After playing Cyberpunk 2077 for the first time, I became ENAMORED with the anesthetics of the game. There’s something so sexy about all the neon colors and chrome, and the cyberware implants are all designed in such an intentional, dynamic, and integrated way on the character models. I especially love the gold cyberware on my favorite chaotic king, Kerry Eurodyne.
So! I decided I wanted to make some fully functional pottery that pulled aesthetic and design inspiration from the cyberware in Cyberpunk 2077. I'm still cooking with this concept, but these are feeling like a great starting point.
Cyberware/Tableware. ceramic (porcelain). 2025.

proofing a new print that i drafted and carved yesterday. this was also an experiment with Speedball’s water soluble block printing ink (🤨)
i’m finding that the ink 1) dries faster, and therefore needs replenishing more often (uses up more ink), 2) goes on pretty thick because of needing more ink in the pan (i was using a glass casserole dish as my inked surface), and so the smaller details got a bit mushy. once fully dry, the ink also has a weird gritty texture on the paper that i’m not sure i love. overall, the ink is weird but usable. solid 5/10.
i wanted these to become postcards, but i think i’d need thicker paper for it. i will update yall soon
A small owl (I love this glaze, especially on black).
I don't know who needs to hear this, but
YOU DO NOT NEED TO START A NEW HOBBY!
STEP AWAY FROM THE TEXTILES!
YOU DON'T NEED MORE YARN!
THAT FABRIC IS NOT CALLING TO YOU! LEAVE IT ALONE!
boy it's me the textiles speaking to you inside your head. you need the yarn. you need thread. your soul hungers to participate in the act of creation. you must feed it. you must buy so many beads.

SHE’S FINISHED!!! her name is Biscotti (i named her this before my prof commented that biscotti means “baked twice” which is literally true)
HERE SHE IS ON DISPLAY!!! my baby. my child. she won me Best In Ceramics for this show :33!!!
[Ceramic sheep sculpture by Kenichi Nakaya]
the reduction firing was a SUCCESS! my prof reduced the HELL out of this one so we got crazier differences in glaze
our clear glaze ended up more gray/blue which i looove, and this mysterious green glaze (i literally just forgot which one it is) turned pink?! very unexpected results but very lovely

So many warblers! I carved most of the top two today and just finished the drawing for the bottom left. Hoping to get them done and printed on tote bags for a birding festival this weekend
