I've gotten into your fics recently, and can I say that they're honestly some of the best RDR2 fics I've ever read? I'm genuinely not even exaggerating when I say that.
I started with your Le Renouveau series, and I fell in LOVE with your depiction of Mary and Arthur. It felt as if I was reading a form of alternative canon tbh, because it was just that good and that in character.
Mary and Arthur are my favourite couple in RDR2, and you did them so much justice that I could've cried. The whole fic series was very cathartic for me, and I loved the ending as well.
I moved on to your other Arthur x reader fics, and was blown away by how good they were. He's so in character in all of them, and you somehow make the reader characters in the fics super interesting and engaging.
"Suffrage" was undoubtedly my favourite one, but I loved reading them all. Something about the reader character in that fic left an impression on me lol.
Apart from rambling about how good your fics are, I wanted to ask what your writing process is like? How do you make your writing quality so good everytime? You're lowkey my writing inspiration cause I'm thinking about writing for RDR as well but I don't know where to start.
Oh my goodness, I can't tell you how incredibly touched and moved I am by all of this! 😭💕 I am SO happy to hear you've been enjoying my humble writings. 🥹 Mary and Arthur are (quite obviously) my favorite couple in rdr2 as well, and once they got their hooks in me last fall, the obsession hasn't abated. Le Renouveau was such a special project to me (being the first fanfic/series I wrote), and the epilogue of A home in endless sundown remains one of my favorite things I've written. I also love that you enjoyed my Arthur x reader fics, too! I have a endless fascination with low honor Arthur, and the reader character in Suffrage. was especially dear to me. I first imagined her opposite Dutch in a different fic I never wrote, but decided to build a story around her and Arthur instead.
As far as my writing process goes, I almost always start with a loose outline. I don't outline meticulously because I enjoy the discovery that happens while writing, but I at least map out every major beat in the story. I try not to be too precious while drafting because I am a heavy editor. I can spend as much time editing a work as I do initially writing it, and I will usually let it sit for a number of days (or longer!) before I even start the editing process. It gives some space for the story to settle before I attempt to refine it, and I always do multiple passes. I am constantly thinking about what I enjoy as a reader (in fanfic and otherwise), and try to craft my prose and my voice around that. In the fanfic world, I'm inspired by the incredibly talented and skillful @honeycoyotes, and in traditional fiction by Emily St. John Mandel.
To get started, I recommend just finding an idea that excites you and diving in! I had never written any fiction before Love is a place I left behind, but was possessed by the idea and felt there was nothing to lose. A simple, but powerful piece of advice I received when I started was: "Just keep writing." It can be especially challenging at first, but you absolutely learn as you go, and it only gets more gratifying. I'm excited for you to start that journey, and I know you can do it!
