9 months since ultron was released and still no comic accurate skin, this is such an L for me

#obviously there are comic elements to their base skin but it's like 70% mcu #let! ultron! wear! speedos!#i don't really like any of the skins besides the base/green ones i'm ngl #the what if skin is... well... it's what if. it's mcu ultron it's fine it looks like what it's supposed to look like but i personally #didn't love what if so i just kinda feel neutral abt it i guess. it's not for me and that's alright #the other two skins (wasteland and x-tron) just don't really read as ultron to me #like they LOOK fine and i guess if what you associate ultron with is their mcu and rivals depictions they probably read as ultron #but TO ME x-tron feels a little reminiscent of what if/infinity ultron and looks a little like just. vision if he was evil sgjsgksd #wasteland is fine... i do like that they kept some of the ultron-y shapes for the face but i still think it could've been made in a way #where it was more obviously ultron #i also just think the skins are a little over designed? idk if that's the right term #i wish they were a bit more minimalist #like in spite of wishing the base skin was *more* 616-y i do like that it looks very sleek #there's not a ton of different colors. they do have some of the mcu-y detailing but it's still fairly simple #i also rather would just straight up want an annihilation conquest utron skin rather than TWO skins with imo clear inspirations taken from #annihilation conquest ultron (those two skins in question being the what if one and x-tron)#a crimson cowl skin would also go so hard imo #obviously i'm a little biased (as is clear from my url) but ultron's 616 debut are some of my favourite 616 ultron comics #it was such a silly but fun storyline and it showcases ultron's personality so well #a skin would be a nice way to encourage some people to read some old ass comics and also i just think it could look really cool #like. with the hood up and then you just see the glowing eyes from underneath? idk i think it'd be cool

i wasn't able to get a super clear image of jupiter like the other night, but i did figure out how to turn the images that i did get into a little animation <3

#this is about 40 minutes of jupiter rotating #if that makes sense #spinning?#idk it's 7am english doesn't make sense to me right now #i was outside for well over 40 minutes though #more like 2 hours #my fingers were NUMB #i also got some pictures/videos of the moon and the orion nebula but i haven't looked at those at all yet #i *did* also manage to get some images of jupiter with the great red spot visible again but by the time jupiter was even visible #from my balcony the great red spot was already like... a little over halfway across jupiter so i didn't get it into the animation sadly #i might be able to catch it tomorrow... but that'll also require me sitting on my balcony at 3am SDJKGJDGS #and it is So cold outside you guys #maybe monday night if the weather holds up #school starts back up the 5th so i need to take advantage of being able to stay up late while i still can i guess sghdkjds

i got the best christmas present ever (a clear night sky for the first time in months)

#and on top of that jupiter's red spot was out!#i know these images look a little crunchy but this is the most detail i've ever gotten out of jupiter #also feels very cool to have gotten an image of jupiter where both the great red spot is visible *and* you can just see #europa's shadow on jupiter as well (the dark spot on the left side of jupiter)

last week before winter break... i Will be writing during the holidays

#perhaps not on ultron but i WILL be writing #i've got a presentation tomorrow nothing wednesday (yay) classes thursday and then NOTHING until january!#i've been trying to make a promo for my other blog that i'm. somewhat active on and it's been a fucking struggle i shan't lie #but a promo will be made eventually and reblogged on here in case anyone might be interested #it's not a muse that's really compatible with marvel/dc but fuck it! i miss u all

so, i watched frankenstein

#and i regret to inform u all... i did not like it #which is surprising to me bc i usually love guillermo's movies and... you know... i've been rping a modern take on frankenstein's monster #(ultron) for a decade now sjgkjsdgs #i liked parts of it but i just found the pacing weird and i don't think it really like... went as in depth with the themes that a story #like frankenstein invites #like it felt very surface level and one note and i kinda wish it had slowed down a little and sat with certain moments for a bit longer #(NOT that i want the runtime to be longer)#to me it felt like it kinda skirted around or only very lightly touched on all these really interesting philosophical topics and themes #and after the 2½ hours were over i just felt kinda... unfulfilled?#like idk why i would watch this movie when i could watch the shape of water or the girl with all the gifts or reanimator #or may or poor things or ex machina #actually there's something funny about oscar isaac essentially playing the same character twice since nathan from ex machina is #basically victor #they should cast him as 616 hank pym next

#you've got all these cool existential themes explored through exponentially evolving technology #but then ultron is also just some guy from new jersey with anger management issues who should be in therapy

it's a little surreal being So obsessed with a character for so long, and then one day just kinda realizing you're not... that invested anymore

#especially because my ultron obsession was still going strong even after the comic RPCs died out #but now the dc/marvel rpcs are active again #and don't get me wrong; I still like ultron as a character and i'm not deleting this blog or anything but i fear my interests have-#-just shifted elsewhere #i enjoy checking in on my dash here and seeing what you're all up to though!#but i can't promise anything in terms of ic writing i'm afraid #that spark just isn't there anymore (not right now for ultron at least)#i feel like this all sounds very doom and gloom SJGSKDGJ and i don't mean it to i swear!#it's just such a weird moment when you had such intense feelings about something for so long. and now you don't anymore!#i read Every Single Comic Issue ultron appeared in. 616 and otherwise! you used to be able to show me a random screenshot of ultron #and i'd be able to tell u which comic and issue it was from #and now i just don't really care anymore #how weird is that!#anyway i hope everyone is doing well <3

ignore that it's b/w, I was having technical difficulties, but saturn and what I think is rhea? (above the rings on the left side of saturn) I couldn't see it through the telescope myself

and this (↓) is just a raw, very overexposed image, but you can clearly see two moons (titan is the bright one far away, the other is tethys)

saturn is a huge planet, obviously, but it's still so hard for me to wrap my mind around the fact that this is an object 1.3 billion kilometers away

#my beautiful girl #and this is my first time seeing her through my good telescope instead of the cheap 2nd hand knockoff one SDGGDFKS #i'm not sure how good my pictures turned out bc i haven't stacked the videos yet (except for this one super quickly) but she was #SO clear through the eyepiece #I could see two of her moons. one was titan for sure and the other was either tethys or rhea #anyway shoutout to that one time ultron almost crashed titan into earth #marvel really didn't like... explore the natural disasters that would arise from earth suddenly getting a second moon and much closer to-#-us than our actual moon

one of my favourite genres of character is , specifically a doctor or scientist who is So deeply evil coded but they're a member of the good guy team & actively helping. & theyre not even a reformed villain theyre just like that. going hehehehehee in their dark scary lab while developing an device that will actually help a lot of people

#west coast avengers would've been so much more compelling to me if ultron acted like this #let her keep her personality!
