headcanon that James has the most contagious smile ever, and they are at some point in sixth year when Lily is starting to realize that she likes James. Like, a lot. 

Lily: why are you smiling anyway, Potter?

James: why are you smiling?

Lily: because you are smiling!

James: well, there you go.
