53 Compass Icon Tutorial
In this tutorial I made a simple yet very nice icon. I learned how to make a very nice glass effect by reflecting an image. I created clipping masks by alt-clicking between layers. I also utilized moving pixels and selections require you to make sure you have the marquee icon selected or the move tool selected before using the arrow keys to move. Overall, this tutorial was a good review for tools I haven't used in a while and needed a refresher course on.

48 Designing Mobile User Experiences
I have always wanted to design an app and this reading has given some insight into what I'm going to need to do so. There's a lot to think about and this has definitely opened my eyes on the kinds of things I have to do to work my way up to mobile user experiences. Mobile software is its own world and while there is less space to design in, it doesn't mean it is less complicated. There are similarities between web development and app development. One difference is that to create an app you want considered in the App store, you have to register as a member in the iOS Developer Program that costs $99 per year. Another difference is that you have to think on a smaller scale. You can't just organize all the information you want, you have to pick and choose from all the information you want and only pick what's important. The most important thing to remember is that everything must be more subtle, more minimal, and easier to use.
47 How to Turn a Site into a Remarkable Brand
The key points mentioned in this smashing magazine reading are all to guide website designers to not just build a beautiful and functional website, but to essentially brand your website. The main point I got from what I read was that to be recognizable as a prominent web designer, you have to make sure you know what you're designing for and how you can still be unique while maintaining a consistent style. This has really made me think about how I can stand out as a web designer an integrating myself in the field. It's not just about creating great websites, it's about selling yourself. When you create a website you're taking on a project for a client but I think it's also important to remember that you're also presenting an extension of yourself.
46 HTML/CSS tutorial
This tutorial was a great way to learn simple html and css to build websites. It started with simple relationships and language such as body and headings. It went on to linking up your css to css and other pages so you can create a fully functional website. Some things I'd like to work on are floats, ids, and classes. These are all necessary elements to have an easier workflow environment and set up the layout of your website nicely. Converting a photoshop design into a real website which is part of the end of the tutorial will be my ultimate goal for my final project.
45 Dunkin Donuts App
This is a mockup of an idea for a Dunkin Donuts "Sprinkle Challenge" App. The idea is that customers can scan their receipt, adding up to 10 sprinkles for every 5 dollars spent. The more sprinkles you have, the more rewards such as coupons. The dunkin donut employees can use your unique account login so that they can add discounts off your purchase. Coupons could also be emailed to you to print out.

42 USB Illustration
This tutorial was another useful and fun illustration that was very helpful. I learned a very good way to make reflection using curves with gradients. I also found that when using guides it's very important to note that many times there will be a set of pixels left over that you must delete. This is something I had to do constantly. When creating things at an angle I also realized the importance of making sure everything thereafter is at the same angle. Overall, it was very fun and it got me to get more practice out of things I've been using but hadn't gotten too much of a hold on such as clipping masks and merging selections.
41 Ice Cream Bar Icon
This tutorial was very time consuming but also very fun. I learned a lot and I absolutely loved the result. Some of the things I learned was how the channels layer can be used to apply subtle effects to existing layers. I learned by holding down alt with the move tool selected and by moving your arrows to the left or right you can copy the layer and therefore create depth. I got to play with texture for the stick and the actual bar. I also learned how to make a very realistic shadow.
