“Apologies for my state of absence, I’ve been doing the finishing touches to the nursey as well as being on ‘a few weeks of bed rest orders’. Turns out I don’t do so well being snowed in on the tube whilst pregnant”
dani-mason:
“Oh that sounds wonderful too! You could do all sorts of colors with the bedding and curtains.” She nodded with a wide smile. “How far along are you if you don’t mind my asking?”
“Well let's hope it comes together soon, otherwise she’ll be sleeping in a plain and unfinished room.”
Cristina looked down at her bump, rubbing a gentle hand over it. “I’m almost 5 months now.”
lauriealessi:
“You could always go to Ikea. They’ve got those show rooms and basically do the work for you. Well…other than the building.”
“Congratulations. Do you know if it’s a boy or girl?”
“I never thought of ikea, I may have to give that a try later.”
“Thank you. A girl.”
thomas-serpell:
“I’m creative, reasonably priced, and fun to be around ninety-five per cent of the time,” he said with feigned seriousness. “I frankly can’t think of a good reason why you wouldn’t.”
The woman was clearly in a predicament; it looked as though she was pretty far along to be considering nurseries now, though he wasn’t brave enough to ask how much time she had left until she popped. Humour probably didn’t help, but it was, generally, all he had to offer. “I’m sure you’ll figure it out before she arrives. This stuff is stressful enough without that extra worry hanging over your head. Make your man shoulder the burden of decorating duties.”
“That ‘s then, you’re hired” She smiled.
Cristina rubbed her hands across her bump, ever since she found out she was having a girl reality had truly set in. Oh believe the man certainly will be, and so will my brother. I doubt they’ll even let me lift a fingers other than telling them what to do”
giorgiodrago:
She would probably look like one of the Kardashian offspring. Lorenzo already fathered one of those, we do not need another in the family. The Kylie Jenner lookalike is enough to embarrass me. And you know that I have a very underdeveloped sense of shame.
Money or time is not a problem even if I have to kidnap a painter for you I will. Just pick one and I will make it happen.
Tomorrow I´m all yours. Gucci baby shoes are adorable and I saw a small coat and dress at Burberry that must have a place in my niece´s closet. Shopping therapy will be good for you as well. For the love of all that´s sacred stop reading horror stories, it´s not good for you or my mental sanity.
As long as the baby is healthy we don´t care about that. It was a shock, but not in a bad way. So…you really don´t want to know what happened to your high school boyfriend? Glad we had this conversation, sister.
Come on Gio, I don’t think she’s that bad. At least not as bad as dad that is. It isn’t her fault that he’s a breeder.
Tomorrow it is, don’t forget Chanel they have some amazing shows and dresses. I think I have a pretty good idea what happened, trust me I still remember my prom night crystal clear.
“What ideas are milling about in your head? A book theme, or a character in a story or movie. Classic disney, or a space theme is a good bet.” Hannah chuckled, “As long as you let the kid change the theme to something they want when they are older, you’re fine with whatever. It’s like parents who make a big deal out of kids first birthday. They’re not going to remember so just make it easy and special for you.”
“I really love Peter Rabbit or something to do with the stories that I grew up with but some of the Peter Rabbit stuff looks so boyish.”
“I think I’m going to hit some shops today, see if I can get any kind of inspiration.”
yourstruly-rachael:
“Well, if you would like any help, I have a few hours before I have a prior engagement. I can also show you what I did for my daughter’s nursery, if you are interested.” Rachael gave her a gentle smile, she knew how it could be when most a person’s time was spent with males.
“I am honored to be the first. My name is Rachael, by the way. Rachael Montgomery.” It had slipped her mind, informing the young woman of her identity. “We need to find you some pregnancy friends then!”
“That would be fantastic, but only if you’ve got the time. Seeing someone else’s nursery would certainly give me a better idea. Plus, you can tell me about all the best brands and names.”
“I’m Cristina Draga-Harrison. Nice to finally meet another mama to be.”
giorgiodrago:
Pink is expected and boring. Why not paint a mural? With stars, flowers or animals. That way it won´t be boring, nor only pink and crystals. You have to teach your daughter at a young age or she will have no fashion sense like her father. We mustn´t let that happen, Cristina.
Do not worry, shopping is my second favorite thing. Tomorrow we are going shopping and get some ideas for the nursery. There is still more than time, you don’t need to get stressed, it will be bad for you and my niece.
Niece...I was really expecting a mini-me to dress in suits and teach how to court the ladies. Guess I will have to teach her how to punch little boys instead.
Oh, trust me I’ll be dressing her and if I’m ever not, I’m leaving outfits out for her to wear. I dread to think what he’d dress her in if it was left entirely upto him. A mural sounds good, but that can take months and I really don’t think like we’ve got the time to find someone good enough to do it. Shopping sounds good, I’ve actually got a few cots, car seats and other bits put to one side at stores but I need someone else’s thoughts on them, and to see if they’re safe enough. I’ve been googling and I’ve read some horror stories of badly designed or build cribs.
I think you and Robert are both gutted she’s a girl. Excited for the new arrival but gutted about the lack of baby suites. No punching please, at least not that I know about anyway.
dani-mason:
“What about a light peach color…or a mint green. I think those are lovely colors” She suggested before shaking her head. “But whatever you decide on will be wonderful” She smiled.
“It’s an important decision to make, I don’t blame you at all for taking the time to decide”
“I actually like those suggestions. I’ve also thought of a light grey with colourful decor but I just can’t make my mind up. I have a feeling it’s going to get completed and then two weeks later I’m wanting something else. I’m awful at this sort of thing.”
hannah-wyatt:
“Why don’t you do the pinterest thing, find the photos you like then google image search the photos and find the stores where they come from.” Hannah smiled, closing her eyes, sighing with satisfaction. “That’s how I found my amazing couch.” It was rude to ease drop but she couldn’t help but help the woman, she understood the true want of shopping for aesthetically pleasing things.
“I think I’m going to try that, I would just rather avoid someone creating an exact copy. Just like a mixture of all the things I’ve liked, or ideas I’ve found.”
“I also don’t want to be seen as the mother-to-be from hell, as I can be really pretty, especially when it comes to spending a small fortune. It’s got to be just right.”
lauriealessi:
“Hiring someone is always better than doing it yourself,” Laurie commented, knowing that if he ever bought an actual house, he’d hire an interior decorator immediately.
“How far along are you then?” He asked, gesturing towards her baby bump. He didn’t have a lot of experience with babies or pregnant women, but there was something sort of sweet about the whole thing.
“I just need to find someone who isn’t going to simply try and just shovel their own ideas down my throat, I’m awful at saying no.”
“I’m almost five months now, time is really starting to fly by. It’s going quick”
yourstruly-rachael:
“So then maybe you don’t need someone to totally design the nursery for you. You have an idea about what you want, you just aren’t able to put it down on paper. You just need someone to capture your vision, not theirs.”
Rachael was glad to be talking to another soon to be mother. She felt as if this was an opportunity for her to make a friend in a condition similar to hers. As much as she loved her friends, Rachael knew that none of the fully understood what she was going through in the pregnancy.
“I don’t know if I would say that.” Rachael gave the woman a warm smile. “Trust me, there is no need to panic. Yes, things are going to change, but the love you will feel for your child is unlike anything you have ever experienced. Every parent thinks that they are going to screw up their kids. But here we all are. You just try to do the best you can.”
“I think I’ve also spent too much time with my husband and brother, that my sense of decor has just gone out the window without making something look like a bachelor pad. I need a female's perspective”
Hearing the women talk about motherhood was refreshing, it was nice to hear that things wouldn’t be as bad as she thought, or the fact she isn’t the first soon to be mother to think the worse. “Thank you,” she said, “Honesty, you’re the first pregnant women I’ve met since becoming one myself.”
thomas-serpell:
“Excuse me, but this is 2018. Did you just assume your baby’s gender?”
“…I’m just screwing with you. Couldn’t resist.” Thomas did well to contain a snort of laughter, before forcing his best serious face. Last thing he wanted was a screaming, offended banshee in his face. “Okay, Paris Hilton is bad. Why don’t you just go for something neutral like animals? What kid doesn’t like animals? Giraffes and stuff, you know.” The man paused. “I’m really good at this decorating thing, as you can tell. It’s a natural talent.”
“Well, the scan assumed, and I’m hoping it’s right otherwise I’ll be doing a lot of turns” Cristina could tell that man was joking around, but for a moment she’d figure she’d play along.
“Knowing my luck though she would come out as he.”
“I never thought of Animals, perhaps I should hire you instead of the ones I’ve looked at.”
juliettesullivan:
“One of my friends in the States carries around this giant tube of what’s called Shoe-Goo… The name doesn’t leave much to the imagination, but she swears by it and doesn’t mind carrying a massive red tube in her purse.” Julie smiled, thankful for Cristina’s gesture and tucked the tiny tube of glue into her pocket. She’d fix her shoe once she found the nearest bench. “You know, I wrote one of those once.”
“Shoe-Goo” I may have to look into that “Though since I become pregnant I’ve found wearing heals to be awful, my ankles just aren’t made for the job anymore”
“Oh really. That must have been pretty interesting”
juliettesullivan:
Julie wasn’t terribly dramatic, but in that moment she was fairly certain she’d take a bullet for the woman handing her the small tube of super glue. “You’re my hero,” the brunette replied, wrapping her red painted fingernails around the tiny bottle. “Not just because you’re willing to share, but because you had a tube of super glue at the ready. I owe you one.”
Spotting a nearby bench, Julie hobbled over in order to piece together her shoe for the time being and motioned for Cristina to join her. “I wish,” she sighed. “It makes my life so much more enthralling when there’s a hair raising conversation going on.”
Cristina chuckled, mainly because she was remembering the times her shoes had failed her. “It’s fine, I think I had it in my car from when the arms on my sunglasses broke and I need a quick fix until I got home but I’ve also used it for shoes in the past,” she explained, not that the girl really needed to know parts of her life story.
“I agree. I haven’t heard one in a while though. I guess I’ll just stick to the agony aunt columns in the papers”
yourstruly-rachael:
“The worst is that apparently everyone believes that pink is the only option for female nursery color schemes. If you need any help or any recommendations on products, feel free to ask. This one is my second, so I know a little bit about products and nursery decorations.” Rachael said, motioning for her belly.
“That is exactly my point. I don’t where I found the ones that came over today but I can honestly say neither of them has any imagination than pink.”
Cristina felt a small wave of excitement when the women monitored down to her own stomach, even more, so the second she learnt it wasn’t her first time doing this either.
“I think I’ve just found my own fairy godmother. Any advice would be appreciated. I’ll admit I’m starting to panic now”
lauriealessi:
“Maybe, you should reach out to the Home Channel to see if they’ll come decorate for you,” Laurie suggested with a laugh. “I haven’t got a clue about decorating, especially for a baby.”
“Apparently neither do I,” Cristina admitted in defeat. Never did she think picking a ‘look’ and colour scheme would be such work.
“I think I just need to find my own ideas and then show people what I actually want.”
