A young man in his late teens or early twenties who is deep in thought sitting on his front porch. He seems like he has been sitting there for a few hours and has gotten more sun than he knows yet. He looks relaxed but worried. Maybe he had a date that didn’t show or sad about something he wanted to accomplish but fell threw.

My son Jordan sitting on a small brick wall with our dog Mellow in the middle of a park, in the middle of an open field with many trees surrounding them. He is wearing blue jeans with a dark navy blue zip up sweater and slip on navy shoes.
This child looks out his window with sadness in his eyes, holding up a sign for the world outside that reads “Stay Safe”. The shirt he wears sort of looks like of a prisoner with dark lines going across it and similar to how he feels. His life has been turned upside down and he doesn't fully understand why. Having to follow all these new rules he's never known before. Not able to shake hands give kisses or hugs. Learning that vacations, sports activities, play dates and schools are canceled until further notice. Hearing adults talk about others becoming unwell or they didn't make it. All he can do is hope for the day he can play outside with his friends, go to the theater and watch a movie, visit his grandparents and go to family gatherings.
I decided to photograph my son Jordan because he is the most outgoing, adventurous & cooperating person in our house hold. I chose this setting because it is near a prairie path at a forest preserve only two blocks from our home. Off the prairie path we found this wooden fence next to the river. I instructed Jordan to walk around it and put his head & arms in between the two wooden pieces and look up at me.
This is one of my favorite photos I shot for my Landscape assignment. It reminds me of a winter wonderland. This was taken in the early hazy morning right after it had snowed. Although the snow gives this photo light, the weather was mild with some wind. The snow lies heavy on the tall grass making it lean over toward the dark glossy lake. The bright snow and lightness of the day gives it contrast making the shadows stand out.
The sun beams down reflecting off the lake as it gets ready to set, giving rays of light in the upper right corner of the photo. The lake water is dark and swap like as it flows towards the suns reflection. Dry tall grass and dry branches surround it. Shadows and dark reflections on the left side of this photo where the sunlight is not able to reach.
This is located in a forest preserve to the right of a prairie path. The lake flows up towards the sunset light, past each tree on each of its sides, turning the corner to the right. There are many trees surrounding with dry tall straw like grass.
For my landscape assignment I chose this forest preserve with a lake that goes out to a far distance and has this little water fall that travels under a bridge. On this crisp late afternoon the sun was starting to set and you can see there is more light at a distance that reflects off the water and gives a beautiful glow.
This ordinary spray bottle that is white and of hard plastic lies next to a pond in between dull dry tall grass and warm colored leaves that are crunchy upon touch.
An ordinary object such as this spray bottle lies lost in dry and moist gritty tan colored sand as if it was a found relic.
I used a tree branch to add more nature to go with the leaves dirt and grass. With this assignment I learned that you can give an ordinary object more character and life to the photo by using simple things you find around it.
For my photogrophy class at COD we took pictures of a sewer as an everyday ordinary object that would typically go unnoticed. I added pinecones and captured the fire hydrant in the picture to make it look extraordinary.
