this humanitarian crisis is not the result of an earthquake or tsunami or some kind of uncontrollable phenomenon undefeatable by man – it is the direct result of the blockade of Yemen poised by Saudi Arabia and the United States, the entirety of the Arab league and allies like France, Canada and the United Kingdom. 

Not only must Yemenis face famine, but also cholera outbreaks which cause thousands of new cases everyday. Saudi Arabia has been known to purposely target water, sanitation and health facilities which is worsening the outbreak and resulting in even more deaths (x)

Saudi Arabia is fighting to reassert the presidency of their favoured presidential candidate by starving & assaulting Yemen and is using weapons financed by its western allies and Gulf arab states to do so. (x) (x) (x)

The genocide of Yemeni people is occurring for the sake of assuring power and monopoly over the region for Saudi Arabia and the United States. 

The USA and Saudi Arabia said nothing when Al-Qaeda took hold of Yemen, they said nothing when ISIS took hold of Yemen, they said nothing when monthly terrorist attacks would claim yemeni lives – but when the pro-U.S. and pro-Saudi Arabia president was removed from power, they carried out the worst assault in modern history of any nation and are starving millions to regain control of Yemen. 

If that’s not enough, Saudi Arabia & the U.S. have also worked alongside Al-Qaeda, the same terror organization that’s been claiming Yemeni lives for decades, to regain control of the region and starve Yemenis into submission

Marielle Franco: Black lesbian Rio city councillor murdered in targeted shooting

A woman who defied the odds of Rio politics to win the fifth-highest vote count among council members when she was elected in 2016.

“Protests were held across Brazil after a popular Rio city councillor Marielle Franco and her driver, Anderson Pedro Gomes, were shot dead by two men in what appears to have been a targeted assassination. They were returning from an event encouraging black women’s empowerment in central Rio when a car drew alongside hers and nine shots rang out. 

Richard Nunes, Rio’s head of public security, said there would be a “full investigation” into the deaths, which came despite the military taking charge of policing in the city last month after a surge in violence.

Franco was a gay black woman who defied the odds of Rio politics to win the fifth-highest vote count among council members when she was elected in 2016. She was an expert on police violence and had recently accused officers of being overly aggressive in searching residents of gang-controlled shantytowns. A member of the left-wing Socialism and Liberty Party, Franco was also known for her social work in favelas (slums). She was in her first term in office. 

During her almost 15 months in office, she presented 16 bills, two of which became law - one regulating motorcycle taxis, an important means of transportation in Rio’s favelas, and one targeting City Hall contracts with social health organizations, which are often subjects of corruption investigations. Her party also pointed to her vocal disapproval of a particular military police unit, which she called the “battalion of death.“ 

Last month, Franco was named rapporteur of a special commission that was to serve as a watchdog over a controversial federal intervention in Rio’s public security. She was known for criticising police killings. In January, 154 people were killed as a result of police action in Rio state, according to state government figures, a 57% increase from January 2017. One of Franco’s final posts on Twitter called attention to police violence. “Another homicide of a young man that could be credited to the police. Matheus Melo was leaving church when he was killed. How many others will have to die for this war to end?” she wrote.”

Israel will pay regular civilians $9,000 to capture African migrants

An advertisement called for civilians with a bachelor's degree and a valid driver's license to crack down on "illegal aliens"

Israel is offering $9,000 to regular citizens to help capture African migrants so they can be deported.

The UNRA estimates that there are 27,000 Eritreans and 7,700 Sudanese in Israel, with the vast majority of them fleeing fled war, ethnic and religious persecution, and conscription. However, Israeli officials have called them “infiltrators” and a “cancer” who constitute a threat to Israel’s ‘social fabric identity’. As such, only 10 Eritreans and 1 Sudanese have been recognized as refugees in the country according to UNHCR.

Please let that sink in, only 10 out of over 27,000 Eritrean’s have been granted refugee status. That’s less than 0.0004%.

Over 52% of Israeli nationals agreed with racist statements Miri Regev, a member of the current right-wing Israeli ruling party made, calling African migrants “like a cancer in our bodies”:

“We will do everything to ensure the Sudanese don’t live here. We won’t allow this threat to grow like a cancer in our bodies.”

“The infiltrators are a cancer in our society. All the leftists who filed High Court appeals [against deportations] should be ashamed of themselves.”

“We will not let them thwart our attempt to protect ourselves, our children, our women and our work places. We will continue to protest every day until the last of the Sudanese infiltrators returns to his country.”

“We won’t allow the aliens to spread like cancer.“

According to the Israel Democracy Institute (IDI), Over 52% of Israelis agree to the statements made above by the current Minister of Culture and Sport of Israel’s ruling right-wing party. The report also showed that over 30% of Israelis condone and approve of anti-migrant violence.

Jordan Edwards should be alive and celebrating his 16th birthday today.

On April 29, 2017 Roy Oliver, an officer of Balch Springs police department, fatally shot Jordan in the head for no reason as Edwards and his friends were leaving a house party and getting in a vehicle.

Oliver was charged with murder and I truly hope he rots in jail for the rest of his life.

Rest in peace, Jordan. You won’t be forgotten.

Youth Jailed Since April For Alleged $5 Grocery Theft, Found Dead In Jail Cell

A young man was arrested by Portsmouth, Virginia police over a mere $5 in groceries that he stole because he was hungry.

The arrest came on the same day a Portsmouth cop shot and killed an unarmed African American 18-year-old.

But now, Jamycheal Mitchell, 24, has been found dead in his jail cell, after spending four months behind bars with no conviction and no bail.

Mitchell had no muscle mass left by the time he died. As a registered nurse, she said she believes he was starving himself, apparently to pressure the “justice” system to  stop locking him up indefinitely.

Mitchell was accused of stealing a $1 bottle of Mountain Dew, a Snickers bar and a Zebra Cake. Combined, these amounted to a total of $5 he is accused of stealing from a 7-Eleven.

For that, he has been locked up for months, awaiting trail, and it is not even clear that he committed those crimes. There may have, perhaps, been a dispute about payment. Or perhaps he began consuming the food in the store and his credit or debit card was declined. Both of these scenarios could result in the same charges.

Perhaps still, he was poor, hungry, and stole food from time to time. Are we really in the business of locking people in cages for months over stealing food?

Mitchell’s death has not been covered by national, or even local media in Virginia, aside from a brief mention on the 11 o’clock news. Help us SPREAD THE WORD before the police start shaping the narrative of this young man’s death!
