And the latch hook piece is finished!

When I get back from my holiday this weekend, I'm going to make it into a cushion.

For the Easter weekend, I am leaving the south, the city that apparently gets the warmest weather all year round (sans pollution, like London) - at least according to my old university.

I'm travelling up north, to where people still worship the Old Gods, dress up in wolf fur, where a wall separates the civilised world from the wildlings - Ned Stark's country.

To keep me entertained on the long journey north, with the British train companies who are as likely to delay or cancel their trains as they are to run on time, I'm stitching my brother's birthday present.

"Oh lawd he coming", is all I shall say.

So I'm a third of the way through this latch hook pattern.

Some thoughts. The progress shows much quicker than when cross-stitching, and once the technique is down, doesn't take that long!

5k GIVEAWAY?!

We genuinely can’t believe it. You guys are so amazing and we’re so happy to be on this journey with all of you, absurd blue hellsite and all. The folks who have told us that they rekindled a hobby, or those that have started new, the wild submissions, and the sheer quantity of people who have made the absurd electrical impulses from our brains into a thing you can hold in your hand brings us joy on a daily basis.

So what are we giving away?

1. A pattern commission from us. It will be around our standard size and complexity, in .pdf form

2. A mystery needle minder! Prism has been practicing construction in anticipation of the Nat 20′s we’re going to get in, so she’s got a small array of tests that came out very nicely.

3. A mystery kit! So many mysteries. We’re just getting started creating kits, so you can get your hands on one before they become available.

4. A gorgeous pattern from @mathysphere. If you haven’t taken a look at their patterns, you should! Right here! The entire pride planet series is amazing. We went with the first of the series for our giveaway:

Fun Fact: Mathy was the very first blog that ever followed us. We were mildly intimidated because their stuff is so dang cool.

Does anyone else get to about 80% of the finished piece, and wish they hadn’t started? I’ve done so much, and the thought of stitching a border is really getting to me.

Is it possible to do without the border? Or is there a reward you can give yourself for stitching the border? I am nearly done with my aunt’s present, but the backstitch! So, break time and time for a spring cross stitch and a project where I fight with the letters.

My reward is carefully placing the pattern pages I've finished in their folder, and my mum's excitement when I give it to her, hopefully on mother's day!

Just finished the last detailed gown, so I'm backstitching the last name and then carrying on with the border, I always get a little more motivation when I'm getting to a new section!

I’m stitching, really getting into it as there’s only one colour left and I don’t even have to look at the pattern, so I’m flying through, and all of a sudden I feel claws on my leg and a very indignant meow.

The duchess, nay, queen, of the household is staring up at me, looking rather demonic as the light catches her eyes just right to turn the icy blue into red.

As her willing slave, I put down my hoop and scoop her into my lap.

Alas, this is not what she wants, and she turns her back to me and climbs onto my hoop, giving me a sideways glare.

Her bottom is now on my needle, and she is glaring at me, personally offended that I even have other interests.

The Apocalypse is Coming...

If we don’t use soap!

I had so much fun on this piece! Made this about two years ago. Took maybe three days, can’t remember exactly. I’ve thought about putting it up either in my own bathroom, or at work.

Thank you! It was meant to be a Christmas present for my mother, but hopefully I'll have it finished for Mother's Day at the end of March.

I'm probably more excited to finish it than she is, at this point!
