You take another look around. Maybe there’s something in that chest.

...well
you may be above damaging books, but you’re not above stealing them.
No! Books are sacred!!
Also what good would paper do? You need something to wrap it with.
DRAWER 2:
Dusty old books, some more candles, a strange rosary,
and...
what seems to be a holy book.
Regardless, no bandages here, either. You better keep looking.
DRAWER 1:
Some more candles, a pack of incense, and an old song book.
No dice.
Let's see if we can find anything else, and not destroy the couch cloth.
FOR NOW.
You look around.
From the look of things, this seems to be a storage room.
Enough with this nostalgic twaddle.
Let's get down to business.
Hundreds of years old. Somewhere around 750, you imagine. Older than the city, or anyone living inside it. Even what it's depicting is foreign to you. If the date is correct, it comes from a time completely different from everything we know now. Back when the skies were ours, before the fall.
You ponder that the artist could never have lived to the fall, however. The event marker was likely placed by someone else.
...For a moment, you're lost in the images swimming through your head of a time long since past.
You notice there's some writing in the corner of the painting. Examining it closer, it appears to be the artist's signiture and date.
"Lewis. 406, BtF."
By the rattleback's bones. This painting is older than you are. Much, much older. In fact,
it's ancient.
You turn around to look, and you discern that no, it is not a map.
It's a painting.
What kinda scum throws innocent chairs at somewhat innocent paintings. And didn't you say TO KEEP IT ON THE DOWNLOW?
....Despite your chastizing, the dirty urge to throw that perfectly sweet, pure chair at that similarly naive painting grows.
................Maybe later.
THIS ISN'T HELPING
Unfortunately, none of those names sound familiar. In fact, nothing really comes to mind at all. ...Your head hurts and you can't remember much.
The pain in your wing isn't really helping. There's quite a bit of blood still flowing. What should you do?
