quick sketch at my desk
More work on the narrative drawing I started this week, tonight I worked a bit on the lighting and some composition ideas.
Blocking out the color tonight, started with really saturated colors but ended up toning them down.
Worked on the line work some more tonight. Refined the face of one of the characters, added damage to his back, tweaked some perspectives and added a few more details on the armors.
Continued linework on the drawing tonight. Made a few perspective corrections. Still need to figure out what the background character is wearing on his head. I also want to show evidence of the sword strike to his back, maybe the jacket is torn up with bits of it trailing from the sword.
Spent this evening working on the linework for last week’s narrative character sketch.
Continued work on the narrative drawing tonight. The last round still didn’t feel right, the attacking character already struck a blow so I lowered his weapon. Made a few tweaks to the other character’s pose as well.
Refining one of the poses from yesterday’s gestures, thinking about the outfits now and figuring out how to use some of the fabric to reinforce motion.
Working on some ideas for a narrative drawing based on Triumph / Defeat.
Worked on more rendering tonight. I repositioned the quiver, worked on the fabric folds, some shading on the boots and hair.
Got some really helpful feedback from @taylor-payton on the gold trim, worked on those details and continued to render. While I was rendering our the right arm bicep it seemed like the proportions were still off so I ended up raising the arms a bit more. I also created masks for the different materials. I think I need to reposition the quiver now it’s off center.
Struggled a bit tonight with the yellow accents and where to go from here with the rendering.
Tonight I continued to render one of the character designs I started last week. I found so many issues to fix I spent most of the night working on perspective and proportions.
Starting to render one of the character drawings from last night.
Tonight I worked on another character design, having fun with asymmetry. If you look closely on the second dude his hair is actually two hands making the peace symbol.
Trying to get faster at these character designs, worked on two more tonight.
Worked on gestures and some anatomy studies for about an hour then worked on more character designs.
