Why is Christina your favorite character in GA ?
Cristina is my favourite character because I find her determination and her ambition something to aspire to.
I admire the way she strives to be the best and how unapologetic she is about this determination.
I also find her one of the most loyal characters on GA, which I think is something that isn’t spoken about that much in relation to Cristina.
She and Izzie were not the closest, they butt heads quite frequently but she couldn’t even care about her solo surgery because she was too worried about Izzie and she fought for Izzie to fight for herself.
When George’s dad was in the hospital she told him that George was the best surgeon and that he raised a good person and despite the cold war between George and Cristina when his dad does die, she’s the only one who knows what to say to him and she comforts him in the way she knows how to.
Burke and eventually Owen would criticize her for her selfishness but she jeopardized her career for Burke and she didn’t give up on Owen even after he choked her.
During the plane crash, she was the one who held everyone together, she was making sure Mark didn’t die, she was keeping the bugs off Arizona, she was telling Meredith to snap out of her spiral of despair. During the hospital shooting, Meredith has to push her out of the way to get to Derek
and then Cristina ends up saving him.
Cristina isn’t warm and fuzzy but she’s affectionate and she takes care of her own and she’s allowed to having complicated feelings about it. She’s allowed to resent Meredith and she’s allowed to not simply be stoic
and she’s allowed to be unyielding in the aspects that make her her
and yet still find herself in positions where she finds herself compromising those aspects because she’s actually quite loving and she wants to make relationships work
And of course she has flaws, she can be mean and she can be overconfident and she can be an elitist but her flaws don’t define her, they nuance her. She’s a character I actually respect.
