question; anyone have an opinion on whether i should decide on a name for him, or, stick to ambiguity and his titles?
new theme, take a look & let me know what you think. i’m still adjusting some of the colors.

“ Not mineself, personally… ”, he replied, shifting slightly, his eyes settled.
He was silent for a brief moment. Then, the quiet was broken by the sound of his breath— deep, intentional— and it was followed by the soft sound of his footsteps echoing on the marble floors below. He did not come close to his brother. There was, after all, no need; however, he did not want to shout. What he wanted to discuss was, in many ways, sensitive if his brother would even discuss it at all. He would not, in any case, allow the chance for curious ears to overhear.
When he had moved close enough that he could speak barely above a whisper, his continued. His tone was still pointed, sharp. Yet, it was not unkind. There was worry hidden behind it, masked by frustration or, perhaps, some false show of aloofness or uncaring about the situation.
But, of course, he did care. Who among them did not?
“ Consider mineself curious, for more reasons than one, brother… ”, he began. “ Thou hath… heard them speak, yes? Of the Flame? ”
He paused, his voice lowering as the question left him. It was only then that he allowed his gaze to shift, down and away slightly, from the figure before him. He watched him now as he continued out of the corners of his gaze. He stood entirely still as he continued, his voice so soft the question might have been lost to the wind had there been any.
“ What will you do? ”
“ what guile thy mind holds----... ! “ his words left his tongue without thought, sharp like a blade with their intent. he immediately recoiled, yes, feeling the regret of implying that his brother was asking him of such with ill-intent. he was the youngest but, in the heir’s opinion, the least likely to fall to lunacy & betrayal.
a breath was held momentarily, disrupting the usual demeanor demonstrated by his persona. he rose from his seated position, raising his hand to clasp the other’s shoulder ( both a silent apology & request to be followed ), releasing his sibling from the sympathetic grip. making not to avoid any path that may lead to their sister, altering steps & ways hoping to reach the outside world in privacy.
“ hath thou studied our father’s ascension? the tale is of a curious nature---- his flame is bright, most are daft though, believing that any flame burns eternal. “
he grew silent afterwards, his opinions had entered his words. perhaps his sibling had picked up on that, there was little doubt he held a sense of perception beyond many. a cold, bitter chuckle escaped him, “ hear, gwyndolin, art thou worried--- ? “ once again, dodging the topic & shifting it back to his sibling. by now it was a tactic best left behind, though, for him, he must ensure their stance.

10. What energizes and drains them most?
growth & the past. he enjoyed seeing the world expand, grow more knowledgeable, & stronger. on a personal level the mastery of a technique or miracle felt electric. in a universal respect it allowed him to ponder what could come thereafter, his eyes focused forth like a predator in nature. in a betraying irony is his distaste for the past. feeling himself fall further each day with each time the thought of his father’s actions, personal faults, & ultimatums leaving his mind wavering and weakened.
21. What kind of relationships do they tend to intentionally seek out versus actually cultivate? What kind of social contact do they prefer, and why?
the heir, subconsciously, seeks out relationships that can give him definition. he knows who he is & seeing as many do not he will have a tendency to avoid himself. wishing for others to evaluate him without any prior knowledge. when he makes an effort he is quick to cultivate something resembling a mutual understanding & competition. finding those with whom he can compete compelling— something he hasn’t experienced in ages. each challenger sparks this flame but, ultimately, is doomed to fall unless they truly are worth his time.
in his time as first-born he likely had little time for his own emotions. standing at the side of father when he made declarations, public appearances, aided in raising the humans beneath him, and so on. he does well in such things, parties & the like, but only for the sake of the aforementioned— appearances sake. in earnest he much prefers an environment exposed to the elements with only on singular companion, or a select group with whom his trust is infinite.

13. How do they greet the world — what is their typical attitude towards life? How does it differ in different circumstances, or towards different subjects? Why do they take these attitudes, and why do they change? How do these tend to be expressed?
typically he tends to view the world in an existential manner. seeing everyone, human or otherwise, as an individual tasked with living a life in a punishing, cruel, and confusing world. he believes in the person, not in their history just like the world; taking it in on a daily basis, evaluating it, and determining it’s value.
ideally he would be able to distance himself in order to handle this rationally, but in that, he fails. if his decision to abandon his father was ever brought up he would combat any claims, likely stating that his father lacked respect for the beasts & was selfish ( though he himself is as well ). with regards to his sunlight warriors & other family he does have a more optimistic view, placing faith in them which is rarely seen.
perhaps it is his inability to cope with his decisions that he chooses such a view. that he feels regret for leaving behind those close to him, siblings & knights alike, which is why he chooses to believe there is no meaning in the world. or, alternatively, because there is no meaning in the world he deliberately chose to abandon them.
14. What do they care deeply about? What kind of loyalties, commitments, moral codes, life philosophies, passions, callings, or spirituality and faith do they have? How do these tend to be expressed?
family— or, rather, who he views as such. gwyndolin, gwynevere, ornstein, ( theoretically ) artorias, and so on. he respects his father to an extent, yes, but for the aforementioned he’d be more than willing to sacrifice himself for their continuing life. those with whom were tasked to find their own sun, like solaire, he too would care for. educating them with his teachings and own opinions.
he holds a high respect for arms & strength, in general, war. this philosophy likely affected his relationship with gwyn. finding his behaviors and utility of the primordial souls as a simple move, tearing apart the dragons who only used themselves with magic and otherwise underhanded attacks; miasma, incantations, and so on.
following such ideology his command of anor londo & the public had it fallen to him would be vastly different. preaching freedom of choice, faith, and desire. allowing exploration of the taboo so as to grow more as an individual. now, however, the most he can express is waking from a slumber and attempt to commune with his sunlight warriors to evade the thoughts of his family abandoned.

I am someone who did not die when I should have died.
Anne Carson, from Grief Lessons: Four Plays by Euripides (via guiltlxss)
soulfromcinder.
Growth blessed all, and even he, a beast capsuled in human flesh.
Our hollowed deity bestowed a dispassionate demeanor, exclusively to a dragon child’s cavalier philosophy; purposely instinctive. An educated intelligence was bewildering no less, eliminating much built controversy pressed against the airborne reptiles; further implying that they could communicate — for this gargantuan figure’s linguistic prowess did not falter throughout the ages. A charred helm inclined upwards, simple craning methods to attain a stable line of sight, instinctively dictating that fear wouldn’t be a deterrent, if force was a gambit ever to be used.
“ It is as thee’ve heard. The masses fester, rejoice in their festering darkness; hence I am to rekindle my sovereignty. “
Idiosyncratic articulations spewed, intertwining with the most discernible atop. Their serpentine nature, subliminally depicted the variety of rulers within, yet none spoke above Gwyn’s supremacy. An essence that burnt bright, hushing majority, even champions of a past era who linked the flame; albeit with a deteriorated remembrance — he faced this familiar gargantuan whilst many memories have been sunk into oblivion’s blistering belly. Regardless, a coiled blade’s tip connected with the area’s magnificent terrazzo, a sudden descent to discern any means of combat; for if one step was made then an essence would burn. With so many blanks to fill, who precisely was this giant? Was he truly born from a dragon? Raised by a dragon? Educated by one? A series of speculations, all not adequate to be pressed forth, hence our champion’s hazy exhale chanted a cacophony of voices, momentarily speaking indiscernible sentences of malice.
“ State what thee knows, of the hereabouts of the Lord of Hollows, so I may regain what is truthfully mine. “
“ --- give’th them power & they seek it further, as it were. “
if it hadn’t been for the grim nature of the situation he could’ve laughed, much like an almighty would if they were asked their opinion on the plight of man. the worth in the soul’s voice resonated within himself, disturbingly so. without an attempt towards his life the once-heir gave way to the crackling of embers, sharp tones of white & red harnessed around him; a slight change in size, dramatically, yes, but only enough to be of similar height. had the armor of the invader not been so damaged he’d have ended his trial.
“ doth thou heareth it ? from above ? the eternal sky torn asunder by wings ? “ a single hand was raised, index pointed skyward; the once rulers of man, with whom were allied to his cause, were graceful in flight. they thrived, aged, yes, but alive nonetheless. they were pure yet had known only war & arms, much like him prior to the fixation on his “ fall “. the point of his monologue was perhaps lost, though, in earnest, it mattered little. the tension grew considerably as he caught wisps of a voice much unlike his own.
“ the great wyverns are my fiercest loyalist, yet they betray their kings if weakness is’t shown...--- hear, knight, i know not of this hollow--- he hath taken not a single step upon my dominion. “
going to try and knock out some drafts tomorrow after work, feeling incredibly tired but the upside is i at least get to change up my schedule henceforth.
Middle Ages and Ironmen.
Any thoughts on Ornstein and his fondness for you?
“ fondness ? “
“ he—… a knight, he is, & a knight he shalt be. scholars shall inscribe tales of his devotion. t’is not a lie, ourselves being close, but he is mine own first knight.
fate shall do him well, though, perhaps, myself shan’t. “
hi yes hi hello. i haven't looked too much into the lore surrounding the nameless king but. your writing is so stellar and i can't even get over how happy i am to see a nameless king on here. seriously. you put so much into his characterization and headcanons. the beauty (and difficulty) of dark souls characters is that they are so vague that you can put your own spin on them, which you have. i love seeing you on my dash, even though i've only followed for a short amount of time. (:
tell me what you think about my portrayal / accepting.
this is honestly so kind of you, thanks for sending this in! i’m glad you enjoy the stuff i’ve put out and i certainly plan to expand once i figure more stuff out with time. send me something through im’s, maybe we can a thread rolling then, yeah?

Were he to have left some notice of where he was heading, or even a white lie to cover it up at least, the knight’s sudden disappearance would not have aroused suspicion from the royal family. Only his younger brother, the ill prince in his bed, knew of Lorian’s whereabouts, and would remain firmly quiet about the matter until he came home.
There was a long-held rumor of a place that still revered the dragons. Many have attempted to gain entry, and those from the royal guard were no exception—for they were once tamers of drakes themselves. Few had actually made it back—whether the wisdom of the dragons was imparted was anyone’s guess. But he was not here for dragons.
With flame-bound sword resting lightly upon his shoulder and blinding helm removed so that he may see, he turned his head upwards in search of any signs above this peak—the one whose name was long forgotten, whose history was long since erased from the world. The journey had been arduous, and he was sure by now that the kingdom was in an uproar over his absence. There was a reason he undertook this venture alone.
there was momentary pause, he had no connection to the land beyond the peaks though he retained enough of a connection to welcome disciples & cast out the weak. none who could not hold their own were ever wrought upwards. to be grasped by the wind is to be crowned, in some respects--- albeit, with no gold but instead a blade.
even so there was a tinge of familiarity in the presence felt beneath. like a blot of ink being spread across a canvas, it was ill with the blood of something deific. as if the creature walked the singular-- most painful-- fine line between tyranny and justice.
“ what an old soul. “ a trace of humour escaped with his murmur, casting his hand outwards and making a sweeping motion. he had been chosen, his mettle was to be tested & his will to progress either drowned or uplifted.
