Frodo turned and saw Strider, and yet not Strider; for the weatherworn Ranger was no longer there. In the stern sat Aragorn son of Arathorn, proud and erect, guiding the boat with skillful strokes; his hood was cast back, and his dark hair was blowing in the wind, a light was in his eyes: a king returning from exile to his own land.

Under the Rain || Aragorn and Eowyn
She had honestly hopped he would say he had felt what she described before. Even if it was only once. Although his explanation was supposed to make her feel better she did not feel better in the least. She ended up thinking that she was trying to destroy her happiness , that she was going to do that ‘bad’ thing which was needed to balance things. The weather outside only helped to add in her gloomy feeling. Smiling slightly she simply nodded, shaking her thoughts away.
”Would you like something to drink or eat too?” She asked, getting up and fixing her dress, which had already dried up a little bit, around her back and chest. ”Well then since you believe you can find something interesting for us to discuss I’ll leave it up to you. The last few hours have been anything but interesting to me and I think I have lost all ideas for a conversation.” She said, walking slowly towards the counter were she asked for a room when she first got in, waiting for Aragorn to follow her and ignoring most of the looks she was getting from the men she passed next to. This truly wasn’t one of the best places she had been to. ”Maybe. Or maybe I just started earlier than you did?” She commented laughing. “Or maybe not. Are you feeling a little old lately?” She asked playfully, joking too, just wanting to make their mood merrier.
He was somewhat concerned by her expression, but it was not his place to help her with her feelings. In truth, he wasn't even sure what it is he would say about them to help her, so he left the subject with a simple, "I am probably the only one who has not felt that though."
"Some beer would certainly not be amiss." He inclined his head and smiled, glad of the company on a trip that had so far been rather dull.
"That is a challenge I hope I shall not fail, though I do not have much hope. My journey has also been less than thought-provoking, though perhaps discussing them together will take up some time?" At the moment, that was his only idea. Usually when he'd been sitting quietly in an inn, he stayed quiet. Nobody liked to talk to the Rangers, even though they were good people.
"That would explain it." He grinned back as they walked to the bar, glad to see her smiling. "Though I do not know what you mean by old. Have you met my wife lately?" He joked back, "How about you though, maybe it was your young years allowing you to speed along."
There is nothing for you here.

Glittering skies || Arwen and Aragorn
Seeing Aragorn so at peace made Arwen’s heart glad. She ran her hand through his hair, smiling as he leaned towards her. Just being with him was so much better than all the ages of the world she’d seen before meeting him. What her life would be like without him, she did not wish to even fathom. They had been destined from the beginning, like her great-grandparents Luthien and Beren. “Ar’ lle caela amin.” She told him softly, kissing his bearded cheek as they walked.
“Yes, not all will be foolish to turn aside your outstretched hand. Most will see your caring and come to you without even being called.” She replied, stopping just outside the hall and considered his question, smiling. “The balcony that overlooks the gardens and waterfall would be a good place. I will meet you there as soon as I can get away without being rude.” She sealed her promise with a kiss on his lips, reluctantly letting go of his hand when they parted and going inside.
Aragorn just smiled softly in reply, glad to accept her love, even though he knew all that she would give up if they could ever be together. He had hoped for it since the moment he had seen her, and now he had it. He could not bring himself to be so selfless as to have her go to the undying lands where he would never see Arwen Undomiel again.
"I should hope so, or my path will be even more difficult. Though I do think the people of these lands wish to find their king somehow." He smiled again at her suggestion and nodded. "I will see you soon." He watched her go inside, then, with the feeling of her lips still on his own, turned to make his way through this place he knew so well. He was so wrapped up in thoughts of Arwen he almost missed the balcony she had mentioned, but he did realize where he was at the last minute. Now all he had to do was wait.
¬ Aragorn in LoTR: The Fellowship of the Ring
“Why do you fear the past? You are Isildur’s heir, not Isildur himself. You are not bound to his fate. Your time will come. You will face the same evil, and you will defeat it.”
Under the Rain || Aragorn and Eowyn
A rosy flush crept over her cheeks at the mention of Faramir and she run her tongue over her lips involuntarily, feeling them dry. “No, he… he is very good company and I’d be lying if I ever said the opposite. But still, we all need some time on our own. Haven’t you ever felt that way too?” She asked. Maybe it was one of those time, that everything felt to be going great. That great that it felt wrong. Like something bad had to happen for balance. Yet, she didn’t want anything bad to happen and was probably worried for no reason. Not wanting to get further into the conversation about her brother sending her alone in danger she completely avoided saying another word about it and simply nodded when Aragorn spoke.
”Some beer would be fine.” She answered smiling, looking at him, ready to get up off her chair too.
”Then, awake we are going to stay the whole night because, like I said before I can’t accept to take your room. Let’s just hope time passes by as quickly and pleasant as possible.” The idea of them sharing a room got out of her mind the same way it got there. It was simply impossible. Not only because of what others might think of her, but also because Faramir would hate it once he heard about it.
While talking about Imladris, Aragorns’ face seemed like glowing. She smiled back at him, unable to hold back at the sight, unlit she was brought back to reality, by his question. ” A big part of it yes, but not all of it.” She answered simply, not caring much about how tired her feet felt. She would have to sit down for the whole night anyway and that was enough time to rest.
He smiled wryly and shook his head. "No, I cannot say I have ever felt that way. Though perhaps that is because I have often traveled alone, and being with no one for so long makes it much easier to be often with Arwen. I could not be with her until I was crowned king." In fact, he was still a little shocked to wake up and see her every day. It was like a good dream that never had to end, but he was always expecting it to. His love was finally with him, and Middle Earth was at peace. "Though I do not say it is wrong to feel that way." He didn't want to seem pretentious, he could not honestly say he understood.
"Then beer it is." He stood, somewhat resigned to the fact that she would go too. Aragorn set his pipe down and gestured for her to lead the way.
"If you are sure, then I suppose we will have to make these chairs seem more comfortable, though I do think we can find something of interest to talk about. After all, stimulating conversation often makes the time go by swiftly, even in such places." He had been in much worse places to spend the night, and this actually did not seem so terrible. It was better than Moria and some of the swamps he'd had to trek through before, at least.
He frowned, but shrugged it off. "That is very impressive, especially for you to be able to catch up with me. Perhaps I am not so fast as I thought." He grinned jokingly, knowing he was faster than Eowyn, on foot at least.

New encounters || Estel and Kili
After the surprise of seeing a child instead of what he had expected had passed, Kili couldn't help but smile. Children were quite precious things. Especially as one as adorable as this one seemed to be. Thankfully the young boy switched to a language Kili could understand as he introduced himself and welcomed Kili to Rivendell, then quickly apologized for the food still in his mouth. Perhaps to other races that was considered rude, but to Kili who was a dwarf, that was common place.
He laughed far more energetically this time when he spoke. "Hello Estel, I'm Kili! There's no reason to apologize, I talk with my mouth full all the time!" Seeing the child shift around nervously after asking if he could ask a question was endearing. And the irony of the question didn't skip Kili. He never understood why one would have to ask to ask a question. He just blurted out whatever questions came to his mind. Though sometimes that earned him a disapproving look from Thorin. So maybe there was a reason for doing so. "Of course you can ask me a question, go ahead ask me anything."
As an afterthought he realized they were still standing in the doorway and added, "Would you like to come in?"
Estel smiled brightly back and thought how nice Kili was. Surely he was a good something, right? And he was okay with talking while eating! "Elrond tells me not to." The little boy blushed a bit and shrugged slightly. He was always being told how to act and how to not act. It was never fun to have lessons, but he did usually try to do as he was instructed on how to be respectful. He did hesitate before asking his question, hoping he didn't sound too silly. Maybe it was a silly question, but he genuinely wanted to know. "What are you? I've never met anyone like you, since you're not an Elf or a Man. And you certainly don't look like any of the pictures of orcs." He shook his head a bit and frowned at the thought.
"Alright!" He smiled up at Kili and bounced right past him into the room, completely comfortable with himself. "I like to explore these rooms when they're empty. This one is my second favorite." Estel said as though he were an authority on the guest rooms in Imladris. "The one a little further down has a bigger window."
