they had fought for their love from day one. Stefan had risked his life time and time again to protect elena, and elena knew without a doubt that stefan was the one for her. the only one that could make her feel alive, she breathed life again because of him, because of the love mutually felt between the human and vampire. it was enough to know, but to sense it right down to her core, right down to her bones. this was earned, their love was the one thing that made absolute sense. her hands would shake, her heart would skip numerous beats, her eyes would mirror light, that of a woman most definitely in love with the boy who thinks he has to bear everything on his shoulders alone, as if to say you’re my home. without the words leaving her lips. it’s not unusual for hours to go by unnoticed, the comfortable and cozy setting allowing their guards to be placed aside for the moment, especially in the open confines of her bedroom. she feels safe, absolute, like nothing can hurt her with stefan by her side. a peaceful moment of bliss enters her system, the night coming to a close, fingers trail over his hair, in a soft and gentle manner, Stefan’s face nuzzled in Elena’s neck, and she couldn’t be more at home with her surroundings. she hums, emotions easy to capture the girl. she cranes her neck slightly, not anything to fracture the current position they were in, to place a few pecks on his forehead, a soft smile grows against her lips simultaneously. ❝ did i ever thank you? for saving my life? for giving me hope again when i…wasn’t sure I’d ever get it back? i was afraid that I’d never feel like myself again, that i would never feel whole again…not completely, and meeting you changed all that for me. ❞ one of her hands rub his back soothingly, matched to the rhythm in her chest.
THE WARMTH OF HER FRAME AGAINST HIS BODY felt like he was living in a dream that he refused to let himself wake up from. The obstacles that continuously reached the surface for them to face at times left him feeling hopeless — that his love for Elena wouldn’t be enough, wondering if she’d stray as far away as she possibly could, but she was always there throughout it all. No matter what submerged to the surface, she never took the easy way out by giving up. Stefan would never be able to repay her for that. It didn't matter how many times he let how grateful he was part from his lips, not a single word could fulfill all that she had done for him. His fingers softly brushed across the material of the shirt that covered her side, delicately rubbing in circular motions as he let his lips brush gently over her neck, a soft peck every so often. His hues drifted shut, basking in what happiness felt like when it seemed so rare to come by. Elena had managed to bring out a side of him that had been buried since the day he turned, utterly lost and a mere distant memory, forgotten and tossed away while never once coming forth again. He felt alive, that in these moments he could let the fact that he was a vampire disintegrate and live in a fantasy where none of that mattered, he didn’t have to think twice about it. His lips curved upwards into a smile at the soft touch of her lips against his forehead, [ how was he so lucky ] his hand reached forward to let his fingers mindlessly run through her dark colored hair that felt like silk to the touch. ❝ You might have mentioned it before. ❞ He teases, a faint laugh exhaling from his lips, but it all seemed to come to a halt in a matter of seconds. Forest green hues softening, taking in every word that left her soft breath, while he leaned back slightly, while glancing towards her. ❝ You never have to thank me for anything — to hear you say that, Elena. I spent so long wondering if I shouldn’t have been selfish with you - if you would have been better off if we’ve never met and to see that you’re happy and so full of hope. It’s all I could ever want for you. You deserve to feel every ounce of that hopefulness and love, bliss, every part. Of. It. And I promise I will always be here no matter what happens because you’re everything to me. ❞
