Understanding Blended Learning
I am fairly new to the concept of blended learning. The technological advances and expansions of social media is forcing education to redevelop the way teachers teach. I agree that blending is more than just adding technology. I have struggled with how to successfully design blended content that doesn’t just include technology for the sake of using technology. Beginning the design process with the development of the entire lesson using traditional teaching practices helps identify areas that can be delivered digitally and/or extended or enhanced using technology. Planning as well as flexibility is pivotal in the design process. Creating blended content is time consuming but in a good way because the end results are worth it. I truly believe that incorporating technology within lessons will enhance learning and increase student engagement and motivation.
People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing - that’s why we recommend it daily.

The principal goal of education is to create men who are capable of doing new things, not simply of repeating what other generations have done.

Week 4
Ok. I've been on the web researching educational tech sites. There is so much information out there to process. I have been trying to make connections with teachers who are where I am heading and I think it's progressing. I've also signed up for a few webinars that have been very informative. This is a long journey and need to pace myself.
This is definitely what teachers should strive for when using technology in the classroom.
Today
I had an very productive conversation with my sister and feel very inspired to "take action". I want to build upon my idea of creating my own technology based curriculum.
The greatest danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it.

My Mastery Journey
I began this journey with an interest in integrating technology with education. I understand that the students in this generation are technology savvy. They learned how to use electronics at an early age. I said to myself, “How can I use this in my lessons?” I have toyed around with various technologies in the classroom but to do it more effectively I need to learn the intricate parts of educational media design and link it to different learning styles. I am interested in facilitating a virtual classroom as well. I When my journey ends with Full Sail, I want to be able to develop effective, instructional media that will assist not only myself but other teachers in the field.
