Hukka, looking apprehensive about... something.
Business as usual for a Schlorgk Queen.
Sxervian Frogs generally live in forested areas, where they live and hunt in small groups, called brigades that are organized in a simple hierarchy. Sometimes brigades are employed by towns and cities to serve as guards or militia. They breed communally in forest pools, and once they have completed their metamorphosis from their tadpole stage, the emerge from the pool, declare their name and join a brigade. This is know as the “Nomenskoodl.”
Ravenous hunters of Northern Crutonia, Snarlox are pack animals. They live in groups of 6 - 12 adults, with a single male (called a Batahtalee) who is the caretaker of the young. The females (called Connees) do all the hunting and defense of the den.
Field notes from our intrepid explorers. Left to right, Waldemar’s notes on Flapazors, Smok’s “Invintoree” of the missions supplies, Cleus’ notes on some smaller plant species and top right a peek of one of Nersel’s maps.
Meemoo are live in highly regimented tribal societies, typically in steep mountainous regions or sea cliffs. Their tribes are ruled by a tribune of leaders... a matriarch, a seer and a storyteller. The meemoo are highly religious and superstitious. In “Quirk’s Quest - Into the Outlands” our character Zaifer is a meemoo.
These little fellows are Zebedee. They live primarily in the open grasslands of northern Crutonia, taking shelter from various predators in the shade of the sporadic Yyplooee Trees. They have acute senses which together with their ability to run very fast, help keep them safe. Gimil, one of the scouts from “Quirk’s Quest - Into The Outlands” is a Zebedee.
A Portrait of Captain Quenterindy Quirk, prior to his departure on his Royal Commission to chart the outlands of Crutonia. The portrait was painted by the Honorable Merintini Mopp, Court Painter.
Ijnkowump are large herbivorous creatures of Northern Crutonia. They are large and slow moving but fantastically camouflaged to look like the rocky terrain. Although not equipped with particularly good eyesight, they have an excellent sense of smell, using branch like organs on their backs to test the air. This helps them avoid Hooklm, which would otherwise feast on them.
Gyrshwyndr. Aquatic creatures of the Northern Crutonian coastline. They spend their days bobbing and diving for food (One of these has caught a young Krookrpingle, a favorite food). At night they retire to cliff side sea caves.

Over the past year, First Second quickly became one of my favorite publishers. With a slew of absolutely stellar graphic novels like “Rise of Aurora West”, “IRL”, “This One Summer” or “The Wrenchies”, First Second put out a ton of Best Graphic Novel of 2014 contenders...
These creatures are Flapazor. They live in large floating colonies far out to sea where they raise their young. The nests are made of Melikastr fronds (a kelp-like plant) as well as the glowing Froonbels and various bits of flotsam. Each day the Flapazor fly to the mainland to hunt from the cliffs and the shallow waters near the coast.
These little fellows are googapani. The adults live in loose flocks of twenty or so individuals. Here they are shown feasting on germii in the dense Pootnynznx Forest, thought they are common throughout Northeastern Crutonia. The young are aquatic.
The Bsteeri Aggl. These tough little fellow are constantly stealing from each other's nest-gardens... and generally squabbling over squatters rights. Pairs maintain small territories and nest in the underground bulbs of the Agglali Plants (purple).
