"When I look at my day, I realize that most of it is spent cleaning up the damage of the day before. In that life, I have no future."
- Sons of Anarchy
The threat of kicking him out of the apartment left a bad taste in her mouth. She really didn’t like the idea. And she knew she’d never go along with it. He’d come back in a couple weeks, probably bruised and without an explanation. And as much as she’d want to slam that door in his face and telling him to pick his things out of the pool, she wouldn’t. Because as much as she hated to admit it, she’d grown attached to the person she shared an apartment with 2 weeks out of the month. And that was incredibly dangerous for her. Getting attached to people and letting them screw her over was the very reason she was the uptight, jaded, closed off girl that she was. She didn’t think Dean would be any different from anyone else who came into her life, and left. But she couldn’t help but hope that maybe he’d be different, and the universe would show a little mercy to poor little Nicole Farrow. She had turned away, headed back to the bedroom to grab a shirt, seeing that she was still naked. But his voice caused her to stop. It wasn’t his usual voice. This one was gentler. She pretended to be reluctant while turning towards him. His cocky comment caused Nicole to roll her eyes, but she couldn’t necessarily say he was lying. She nodded, arms folding across her chest as she took a step towards him. “Okay. If you’re only going for two days, then you wouldn’t mind a little company, huh? Take me with you. I wanna see what kind of fun you have on your little secret excursions.” She honestly wasn’t too keen on the idea of tagging along with him. But she had to know what took him away from her so often.
Oh, right --if her nudity hadn't been caused by sleeping with some other man, Dean would have been blissfully distracted. Even if she had a sheet wrapped around her or wore a long t-shirt, or even if she had a bra on - he wouldn't have been able to pay much attention to their conversation. However, the jealousy that came with the fact that there had indeed been a strange man in her bed kept him sane, for lack of a better term. It kept his thoughts clear. --He wasn't expecting her next question. His jaw literally dropped halfway through her request, and he looked as if he were about to say something, but he let her finish. And then he stood there, and he stood there, and he stood there in silence. Not a word from him for at least a minute and not a muscle moved, until he turned around so his back faced Nicole. He pushed both hands up into his hair and let out a groan of frustration. While he had been calm and collected before, now he was at a loss for words, and his nonchalant front was shattered like a fragile pane of glass. Everything about him was tense, from the stance of his legs to the set of his jaw and the white-knuckled grip he had on his hair. "I don't even want you to know where I'm going, Nicole." His voice wasn't loud, necessarily, but it had the same tone to it that a shout would. "Why would you ever think I would take you with me?"
"I’m not most people. Names come and go as the people do.”
"I can see that... Still nice to know 'em, don't you think?"
"…— It’s Bonnie. Can’t imagine the importance of knowin’ my name, but there you have it.”
"Most people like to know that kind of thing. --I'm Dean, not that you asked."
“I heard it.” Evie snapped, frowning at the door.
He could have more than one weapon, she knew that, but she could sense how nervous the position made him; he felt vulnerable…
She hesitated for a moment before speaking again.
“Stand back.” She ordered, sliding the chain free and fumbling to get the lock open.
Carefully, Evie curled her hand around the doorknob, cracking the door open a little and standing back, levelling her pistol towards where she caught a flash of blonde hair.
“Come on in.”
Dean stepped back without hesitation and listened to the chain on the door slide out of place and clunk against the frame, and he watched tentatively as the door was pushed open a crack.
Hands still raised with no intention to do anything unless she pulled a move first, he nudged the door open with his boot. Standing in the doorway now, he nodded at her once, then took methodically slow steps into the room.
"How's that? Non-threatening enough for you?"
There’s an old saying; ‘that which doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.’ I don’t believe that. I think the things that try to kill you make you angry.

"Woah, when did you get that?"
"Who did this to you?"
"How many time have I told you to be more careful?"
"You’re saying this was an accident?"
"What a shiner!"
"If you look like this, I’d hate to see the other guy."
"I’m not buying it, you don’t walk into a door and get a bruise like that!"
"Does it hurt when I touch it?"
"Let me kiss it better."
"If you don’t rest, you won’t heal."
"Another fight?"
"What happened to your face?"
"I don’t think your arm is meant to bend like that…"
"Let’s get you to bed."
"Let’s get you to the hospital."
"Why are you so calm about this?"
"You’re bleeding!"
"What are friends for, ey?"
"So, instead of helping you, they ran off the moment they saw what was happening?"
"You need to look where you’re going."
"I’m not accusing anyone, I’m just saying it looks suspicious."
"Do you want to tell me what really happened?"
"Don’t move! You’ll faint!"
"I’ve got some bandages, wait a sec."
"You’re the clumsiest person I know."
"I won’t let you be on your own, not when you’re like this."
"How could you be so careless?"
"I can’t even look at you, you promised not to get into any more fights!"
"H-how many of them were there?"
"I’m a person, not a book — i’m not supposed to be easy to read.”
"I'll give you that. Can I get your name, at least?"
HEADCANON;
Charlie Hunnam always has different hair and a different look, so I'm just throwing it out there that this is my headcanon for Dean's appearance. Beard, hair length, leather - the whole shebang.
"And you think that what you see isn’t what you get? Honey, this is as clear as anything’ll get."
"I'm not really sure what I see; that's the problem. --That's not somethin' nasty, you're just not easy to read."
"Maybe you’re just gullible. Clearly i’m doing just fine."
"That's not clear to me. We just met, after all."
"I guess you can say that i’m an old soul.”
"Are you? I've been told that old souls don't do so well these days."
"And you might be jumping to conclusions there, sweetheart.”
"Sweetheart? Been a while since I've heard that one."
Evie balked a little at his lack of reluctance, frowning slightly at the door.
“You’re smarter than that.” She said, checking that the safety on her gun was off “Or at least I thought you were. I’m going to open the door a little once you’ve unloaded. You’re going to pass me your gun – empty – and if you try anything, I won’t hesitate to shoot you.” The empath ordered.
Better safe than sorry.
“If you try to take me, or you get too close, I’ll shoot myself; and I imagine I’m not worth anything to your boss dead.”
It was a bluff, she needed to stay alive, she needed to decipher whatever it was on that device, but she hoped the man would fall for it.
"Maybe I'm not." He was, but he was also in a state of near-desperation. He needed this to work out in one way or another, and if this was what he had to do to make that happen, then... So be it.
"That won't have to happen," he said, already pulling his gun out and removing the ammo, holding it in his left with his gun in his right hand. The disarming of his weapon made an audible clicking sound, and he asked, "You heard that? It's not loaded."
He took a step back from the door and raised both his hands, his heart beating faster than he'd like to admit. This was frightening for him; making himself so vulnerable to someone he'd been told was dangerous. Still, he had to trust himself to be able to handle things if they went awry.
