PSA: to anyone following @crypticw00rm, DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES REPLY TO ANY POSTS OR DMS SENT TO YOU IF I FOLLOW YOU OR WE ARE MUTUALS. I FELL FOR A *REALLY* BAD SCAM BECAUSE I WASN’T PARANOID ENOUGH. PLEASE DO NOT MAKE MY MISTAKE.
Some pointers:
1. If you are dm’ed by a mutual saying that they accidentally reported you for scamming, and that you will be permanently-banned within 14 or-so hours, DO NOT ENGAGE
2. After sending at least 2-3 messages about how you can fix your situation, the scammer will direct you to a “member” or tumblr support named Samuel York. Initiating any sort of communication with him will lead you to discord, where you will then get on a call and share personal information (I fell for this because I had never seen a scam so elaborate before).
3. You will be asked to verify that you were falsely reported and will have to give a stipon of $350-$500. I gave $500 in my case. To be honest I should’ve disengaged right then and there but I didn’t.
In summary, don’t be a dumbass like I was, and do some background checks before proceeding any further. I doubt tumblr would just wait for some random to dm you about your account getting deleted anyhow.
