Putcha shades on bc life bouta get hella bright! • • • • • After One flew over the cuckoo’s nest (Hi, I’m One), I decided to visit my family in South Carolina and throw myself into a one-week Business of Fashion summer camp. I learned oceans of information from my college mentors, bankers, friends, and colleagues of the applied arts. I also finished the signature jersey for my upcoming show, which I’ll show later. However, I had no idea that I would walk away realizing that I have known who I am my whole life. This week has helped me realize that I am one of thousands of monumentally creative thinkers and doers in my generation. It may sometimes appear that I am not on a straight path with easy steps, but that is because I want to climb the mountain, not go to the lake. Another show idea

Muslin and leather garments hung on dress forms suspended by a meat hook conveyor system. The track would run above a carding, spinning, weaving, and rolling rack that continuously makes 60” wide muslin fabric for the duration of the show.

I already have the collection designed. It’s an incredible concept and the show looks beautiful in my head, but I’ll never have the funding to pay for the production cost.

I have an insane idea for my next show and I need someone to hear it.

The Number: Thirteen

The story of a widowed mother who killed her thirteen perfect little girls; one for every year that her husband didn’t love her enough while he was alive.

Thirteen white->peach colored garments on metal wire frames shaped like coat hooks at the top hanging from an old stretched out oak tree at a plantation. The garments will be made of various types of silks satins, tulles, organzas, laces, muslins, cottons, veg tan leather, and will have clear->peach rhinestone embellishments. Standing on the ground will be models wearing black versions of everything. The bridal piece will be a white ball gown with black highlights.

The idea is that in a fit of rage one night, the mother drunkenly killed all thirteen of her daughters and then herself (I love a good plot and what a twisted-ass story), and now their spirits linger on in the light and the shadows.

I’m absolutely gutted by Jeremy Scott’s design. I’ve been working for months, designing and producing a ball gown made out of chandelier parts. I spent two weeks designing the piece, I’ve sourced every piece of crystal and hardware myself, I have met with several chandelier designers and sheetmetal fabricators, I created an itemized budget and I’ve stuck to it like glue, and I’ve spent countless hours just researching how chandeliers are made from start to finish. I have done every bit of homework while designing and making this piece. I’ve done everything right.

I had a genuinely brilliant and unique idea for a semi-wearable work of art and now I feel like whatever I do, it will only be compared to his work and it crushes me. Don’t get me wrong, I am so inspired by designers like Jeremy Scott and The Blonds, but I thought I really had my hand on something first. And maybe I did! Maybe the idea that’s taking me all year to pay off would only take Moschino 1 month to pay off - that’s understandable.

But it still sucks. I had this beautiful idea that I have been working so hard on, and now that’s all it is - an idea that I worked really hard on. I feel embarrassed.

Watching the news and I’m shook as a book. For FW16, Jeremy Scott created the left look for Moschino. I thought it was poorly executed and underwhelming at best. I knew I could create a more realized version of this skeleton for my show this fall. However, this evening, he brought the right look to the Met Gala. As heart breaking as it is to realize that something I’ve been working on for months is no longer uniquely original, I can’t help but congratulate him on doing it first and doing it so well.
