On tethers
Since we recently received an ask on the difference between my tethers and traditional bindings, I thought I would clarify for you all. My tethers are essentially the same as most shop’s bindings in that they simply consist of an attachment of both the companion and the spirit’s energy, and I also throw in a small charm to enhance communication.
I personally avoid the term “binding” because of its frequent association with baneful magic, and I want to make is abundantly clear that that is something I would absolutely never do to a spirit. They are designed to tie the two of you together, make communication easier, and serve as a personal little beacon so that no matter where either of you go, you can always reach out to one another. They’re not harmful or restrictive in any way, and while they are designed to break should anything go horribly wrong and there are certain codes of conduct agreed to, they do not “bind” either of you two from doing anything.
They are also entirely optional! If you prefer working with spirits without a vessel, go ahead and let me know in your order notes. In this situation when it comes time for your companion to go home to you, what I will do is have a companion of mine, who has my full trust and has done this before escort them to you to ensure they arrive safely, and then leave immediately.
