Storyboard for the finale fight between Shadowsan and Carmen!

Analysis / Breakdown of differences under the cut :D (contains gifs/slight flashing imagery, be warned!)
Quick disclaimer: the timing of this storyboard (how long certain shots are held) doesn't mean anything since it was put into video format by me! I'm simply guessing how long each shot was supposed to be held for ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Carmen's flashbacks of Julia, Chase and Gray aren't in the storyboard!
These shots are different but both show Carmen spotting Shadowsan! The version in the storyboard relies on Shadowsan/the moon's reflection in the water, whereas the final version opts for something simpler with no camera movement.
the shot of Carmen looking surprised and the closeup of Shadowsan's face aren't in the final.
Things play out the same till we get to the fight! The entire fight scene is much longer in the storyboard! Shots are in a different order/there are many small changes... I don't have space to talk about every single one, so I'm just covering the ones that stood out to me!
In the storyboard Shadowsan straight up picks Carmen up and THROWS HER- how did he do that. In the final he simply redirects her punch!
This line didn't make it in!
In the storyboard you can see Carmen's heels leave a dent in the pillar! YIKES! In the final version her kick actually lands on Shadowsan and the shot then transitions into the end of their fight, the storyboard however goes on a bit longer;
This shot from above isn't in the final!
This segment of the fight where Shadowsan hides behind the pillar and Carmen either pretends to or temporarily loses track of him (I can't tell which- I think it's just pretend?) isn't in the final either!
Both the board and the final version transition into Shadowsan's defeat after Carmen kicks him, Shadowsan being punched repeatedly until he stumbles back and kneels is the same!
When this line is delivered, a different shot is used in the storyboard, with Carmen looming over Shadowsan and casting a shadow (heh) over him! The final version remains on that shot of Carmen and Shadowsan from the side.
Same as the last point, different shots are used for this line! In the storyboard version Shadowsan's face isn't visible and that shadow is still being cast over him. You can also see he seems to be gripping his chest, which we later learn is him holding the Matryoshka doll!
The "Only losers..." line is more staggered in the storyboard and when Carmen pulls out the crackle rod it focuses solely on her, rather than the final version which shows us Shadowsan's reaction.
This shot of Carmen holding the Crackle rod isn't in the final! That red box that travels from her face to the Crackle rod is for the camera btw! Meaning only what was inside the red box would have been in frame as it panned down!
The reveal of the Matryoshka doll is different, in the storyboard the camera tracks down the barrel of the Crackle rod, focuses on Shadowsan's face and then he reveals it!
I personally prefer the storyboard version here! It makes Shadowsan seem so much cooler and that he is confident this will work, whereas the final version feels less confident- like this was his last resort and he's not too sure it'll work- I suppose it's up to personal preference which one you believe fits the scene better!
The zoom into Carmen's eyes is MUCH more dramatic in the storyboard, in the final version it's just a simple zoom, but here her eye is super detailed and there is a dramatic flash!
The best frame in this entire show!! Cannot believe this was removed!!! The emotion and suspense and artistry on display.... Curse you Netflix..........
Carmen drops the Crackle rod similarly, though we see Shadowsan's reaction to it in the storyboard.
This line is only in the final, not the storyboard!
Carmen doesn't gasp as dramatically in the final, and the shot through the broken window isn't in the final either!
This line didn't make it into the final, in the final Shadowsan simply leaves their conversation at "There is much to explain."
A key thing to note is that he smiles at Carmen here! Which he doesn't do in the final version.
And this is the last change, in the final version of this scene Carmen remains distraught, but in the storyboard Carmen smiles (just slightly) at Shadowsan, :) !!

I can’t believe first time I did her character sheet was 2 years ago!😭✨ it’s been a long time. I didn’t even realize it that it is that long so let’s update a bit.
I been thinking about Rebecca design and want to re design her a bit for a while now. It’s not much change but I feel it better this way. Especially in her older age, I make her look older cause it would make more sense. And the way her hair is when she older.
I make the white of her hair part lower since her hair gonna keep getting longer and she probably didn’t continue to dried her hair so the white part will be lower and I did add grey hair for her.
Some outfit I change it…some I just adapted it a little bit. I try to think of the function on every single one of them for each situation.
VILE Student ( 20 ) : this is her as Vile student. Nothing much.
VILE Operative ( 21 ) : this one is her outfit as an operative. This is the part of her life when she graduates from Vile Academy. I got two versions here : Jacket on & off. This one used to have like..strap{?} over her chest in the old design but I think it unnecessary so I took it off.
VILE Instructor ( 21+ ) : This is her after get baby Carmen to Vile island. After that she stay in Vile island as instructor before soon she will be one of the faculty. Actually it’s more like mission outfit, she still do some missions even she is now instructor.
(Headcanon : Her operative and Instructor outfit are styled by Countess Cleo since they were close back then. Cleo loves to dress up Rebecca. Shadowsan thinks it’s too revealing and know it is not something Rebecca would like but he never said anything since he knows Rebecca can’t say no to anyone.)
VILE Faculty & Instructor ( 30-40+ ) : this first one is more like outfit for mission. Even she is one of the faculty now sometimes she still has to do mission so she got this outfit for that case. And she did develop it from her instructor outfit. Less revealing more functional for her.
VILE Faculty & Instructor | Lab ( 30-40+ ) : as in my AU. Dr. Bellum decided to go work in her own main base that is out of Vile island. She decided to give her position to Rebecca since she knows she can count on Rebecca when it comes to these laboratories and technology stuff. Rebecca is one of the smartest students in their years. So Rebecca step up as faculty and take care of the lab after that. So mostly everyone in academy will see her in this outfit
Formal Outfit : this is for the mission or any situation she need to wear something normal. I didn’t change this one much but the hair.
Black Coat : this outfit gonna be what she wears in Season 3 Episode 5 ( take place in London) & season 4 Episode 8 ( the last episode ) I used to draw this outfit before…way long before Rebecca character sheet and I really need to redo it cause I really love Rebecca in black clothes.
Casual Look 01 : This is what she wears when she is with Team red. I try to make it look very soft not too much since it is just casual. I love Rebs in skirt but since this outfit will be one of her main outfit…means she has to run or jump in it, I need to put her in pants for functionality.
Casual Look 02 : Another casual outfit but this one is more like for disguise so..at least it is not the main one means u can put her in long skirt✨🤍
Costume Party | Katara : This one is just for fun. I just love ATLA and Rebecca did kinda like Katara in some point.
So Her codename is Aroma. I give her that codename because she invented some special perfumes or aroma as her own weapon.(could be something like poison something like that) but she never really use it in the mission (cause it is strong and she doesn’t want to risk anyone life) and as I said in lab outfit part. She is smart person(that’s how she can invent her own perfume or stuff) so I would say she is good at using her brain.( She can also play the role of a decoy well, and her movements are quite graceful. ) I don’t remember if I already mention this long time ago in any of my old post.
Lmao looking back at old content, everything looks like i copied it out of arcane what, not to mention how i made it look like player x blank is canon in my main au what 😭
Anyway here's random facts about cs-blank-au i think i can share, idk i don't rlly like sharing unfinished work back then so i was a massive gatekeeper. not cuz i think ppl are gonna steal or anything but i wanted to be able to post the content chronologically :p
Random Facts about CS-BLANK-AU (from the perspective of someone looking back at old posted content w the long lines of lore i had initially planned still printed in the back of my mind)
Planning to rework a lot of things anyway but this is based off what i've posted.
- Player x Blank isn't canon. Idk maybe at first i did plan it to be canon when i had a crush on Player when i was 14 years old, but ig as time went on i didn't really see them match in terms of lore, Player dating a murderer wtf. I do see them getting closer post-timeskip or post-csbau-return of vile. I didn't really actually plan on implementing the ship posts :/
Also it kinda stopped being fun for me to look at as an adult now considering Blank used to be a self-insert. It felt more predatory looking at them acting like a couple despite both of them having just a 1 year gap. Maybe post-timeskip or something like that but i don't really see it happening
- I still don't know where to draw the line between Blank being an OC or a Self-Insert. Like there are many aspects of Blank that just don't align with my irl sense of character. Sometimes i like to think of it as like "This would be me if i were put in this situation" but honestly it was just me projecting the inner feelings of 14-16 year old me. It feels wrong to just call him an OC but it also feels wrong to call him a Self-Insert. I mean it's an AU anyway (someone pls help me find the right term)
- A lot of the old content was just me projecting about my relationship with people in my personal life. If i recall, it was mostly Carmen, Black Sheep, and Shadowsan that i projected personal relationships towards. Not really like copy paste from irl to au, but rather snippets of my life in my writing. With a clearer mind and a better perspective of things happening in my life, i can say that i REALLY gotta rework a lot of this 😭🙏
- Blank's main inspiration was Catra from SPOP, and S1 Jinx was more of a Raven's view era Inspiration (aka Crow/Young Mob asset Blank). I think it was most obvious when i posted post-timeskip Faculty Blank, but it genuinely looks like i copied off of Commander Caitlyn Kiramman when i had this drafted before Arcane s2 even came out 😭. I kin all 3 characters anyway but the way i portray Blank felt more like a Frankenstein of characters i kin rather than how 14-16 year old me would act. Idk i just wrote whatever made me happy with my work :] It's not like it's gonna kill anyone anyway.
Also, Jinx being a voice claim was just because i couldn't find anything that sounded "just right" to me 😭 Not even Jinx's voice sounded right when i tried to pitch it down. I was looking for a deeper androgynous/feminine voice without it sounding like a "dom fem fatale" or a dark edgelord.
If i had the knowledge i have today and had the choice to choose Blank's Voice claim, i would choose maybe Zooble from TADC? The accuracy is a 5/10 tho, this ain't rlly set in stone
- I changed Carmen's character design in the timeskip of my au. I feel like Carmen would try to be more practical the more experienced she became with field work. I just changed the coat design, her hair style, and made her more lean in a Lara Croft way. Her personality changed a little as well. I made her more of a lady with intense repressed anger than someone who lashes out at a major inconvenience. because who wouldn't be pissed tf off knowing an organization had you controlled to do their bidding for half a year? Idk i feel like mid 20's Carmen would act like that
- Blank is always portrayed similar to how the Golden guard of TOH was. Ofc i always posted my main oc so edgy, bcuz whoever was viewing it was seeing it in a first/third person perspective. Looking back at it, yeah it was cringe but i was happy
Quick run:
- Zari became less obedient of specific orders due to it getting less progress for ACME and it always came at a cost. Gain 5, lose 10 type of situation.
- Shadowsan felt like he had some sense of ease when he came into terms with Blank. Not really in a way that makes him drop his guard (the man wouldn't fully.) But rather it felt less like being burdened by mistakes because they finally mutually acknowledged the facts of what had happened.
- Blank and Paper star are basically Black sheep and Tigress part 2. all 4 have some spectrum of hate against each other anyway
- Crackle plays a bigger part in the post-timeskip because what the fuck was he doing in earlier seasons other than being a plot progress guy.
Eh this is just what i could think of from the back of my head. Csbau content is mostly just portfolio filler anyway

I hope this break will be reflective and progressive for me as an individual very slowly entering adulthood. Revisiting this feels like going through an attic full of things that used to make me happy. I made these in honor of my CS interest when i was around 14 years old and it feels nostalgic returning to look back. I've made a lot of progress since those childhood years, and hopefully there's more to come for me to learn, grow, and create in the future.

Tried Antidepressants for a week, didn't continue cuz it made me more depressed
Thrown a bunch of document work for school at me because ppl apparently needed my knowledge in Microsoft word only to be told "You're full of excuses" when i give factual reasons why everything is delayed
Yeah, that's not even half the reason why i was in Hiatus for almost 2 years
