Ok so, I’m new to tumblr. My m8 (who’s also on this tumblr) isn’t, and told me as a feminist I should get an account. But I am seriously confused.
What is this #misandry business. I don’t get it. Some men are nasty. Also, some women are nasty. Having a penis doesn’t automatically make you horrible, and having a vagina doesn’t automatically make you nice, nor does it work vice versa. People are people. And if you’re going to say “kill all men”, what about gay men? Agender, but biologically male people? Pangender men? Come to think of it, agender or pangender but biologically female people. Would they count? I mean, they don’t identify as female, so by process of elimination, are they male? What about trans men? I mean wut. Come on, gender is such a fluid thing, you’d need a 100000 page long questionnaire and interview process in order to decide if someone was man enough to qualify for violent death. The queue would be so long, it would get seriously impractical.
How does noticing the blindingly obvious, as stated above, make you not a feminist? Surely, fighting for women’s rights, realising the world is one great big patriarchy and needs sorting out, hating rape jokes etc makes you a feminist. I’m pretty sure there isn’t some massive, centralised Feminist Permit System where you have to go through rigorous tumblr-testing to analyse whether you’re feminist enough. And even if there was, since when has hating every single man been even slightly a criteria? Of course it’s not; stop telling me that it is, some random tumblr people. No, seriously, stop. It’s kind of annoying.
3) If I’m missing something, please correct me. But please, do *not* tell me that anything I’ve said here means I’m not a feminist, because, erm, you’d be wrong, and anyway, you’ll make yourself look kind of stupid.
