whitsantos going from roommates to reluctantly codependent best friends

whitaker showing up to a shift with his nails painted bright blue and when someone asks about it he just shrugs and says “santos was bored.”

santos quietly climbing into whitaker’s bed after a rough shift to cuddle and neither of them acknowledging it in the morning

santos forcing whitaker to binge gilmore girls because he’s never seen it and immediately starting fights about which of rory’s boyfriends is best

whitaker cooking dinners that are 90% vegetables because that’s how he grew up and santos being forced to eat something that didn’t come in a takeout container for once

santos slowly taking over whitaker’s wardrobe because his taste is terrible and he’s “not allowed to get dressed without supervision” anymore

them getting so comfortable with each other that the concept of personal space quietly stops existing

eventually knowing what the other is about to say or need before they do, which somehow translates into them working perfectly in sync and people at the hospital becoming convinced they have weird twin telepathy powers

McKay is so grounded in a way that really reveals how ungrounded the people around her are. And then she’s compassionate as well, so she isn’t just grounded in herself, she is actively grounding those around her. She is incredibly perceptive and astute.

The way she not only accurately assessed what was going on with Robby, she told him so. And she did so in a way to trigger his own self reflection rather than being overtly confrontational. She knows that ultimately Robby must decide for himself to seek help.

I think about how McKay told that man who assaulted Emma how even a drunk driver who kills someone is still responsible for killing them. His being crossfaded on alcohol and coke does not absolve him from attacking a nurse.

And I honestly think this is something Langdon needs to hear too. He has not taken accountability for his actions or truly acknowledged the way he hurt others while in active addiction. He views the natural consequences of his actions as punishments and does not see the true scope of pain he has inflicted. His apologies are rote. He is crossing off a checklist rather than attempting to repair the harm he caused.

Seeing Santos grab that blade and right after confiding in Whitaker how much Langdon shook her confidence on her very first day as a doctor… I really can’t fathom why anyone would hate her character for actually holding Langdon to account. She was on the verge of tears last episode, being brave and facing someone whose words cut her so deeply she continues to hurt herself over it.

McKay shows us what facing yourself and your demons can look like. McKay has done the work, paid her dues, and most importantly forgiven herself for her mistakes. Because of this she is able to help everyone around her simply by being true to herself and accepting her journey.

trinity and robby exchange words about this concept. robby says “tomato-tomahto,” meaning he conflates loving his fate with remembering his inevitable death. to him, his fate is sealed now, it is fated for him to die soon.

trinity obviously picks up on the meaning of this. she goes through about four different facial expressions before focusing back on the patient. she recognizes that robby is in the state where he is fantasizing about his own death. he has a plan and a timeline.

trinity knows. and robby said that because he wants her to know.
