I believe in prison abolition and restorative justice. I also believe public execution is an acceptable consequence for billionaires and wannabe billionaires who engage in the exploitation and systemic abuse and murder of the people, especially the children, they traffic. Capital Punishment for Capital Crimes. We should have pathways for formerly imprisoned folks to employment, housing, community, etc. It’s also okay if someone who commands a genocide is ripped limb from limb by horses running in opposite directions. I am large. I contain multitudes.
This isn't a contradiction at all.
I oppose drug prohibition and prison. Meanwhile, if a police officer is caught in possession of drugs, I'd fully support them going to prison.
And that's because they were more than happy to support the oppressive system when they were benefitting from it and harming others with it. And they resisted any attempt to destroy the system.
I oppose the system. But as long as the system exists and needs victims, the people who uphold it should be the victims of it. If they don't want to be the victims of it, then they can join the movement to destroy it and hope the movement succeeds.
OF COURSE IT'S A CONTRADICTION to support not having prisons and also support a police officer o anyyone going to prison.
Well, yes.
The point, though, is that people should face consequences of the systems they create and uphold to their benefit. If a cop spends their career punishing drug addicts but participates in the proliferation of drugs into marginalized communities, then the laws they are bound by their duty to uphold should also apply to themselves. Instead, we have a system that largely benefits specific classes of people while punishing other specific classes of people.
If I were part of a collective power that was tasked with creating a system of accountability, it wouldn’t look like prison. But, since prisons exist as institutions that uphold a system I didn’t create then it wouldn’t be fair for a cop to avoid the consequences of criminal actions that their entire job centers around punishing. Yet, this happens over and over. Cops, like billionaires, think that they’re protected from the consequences of their actions.
Conversations around prison abolition must center marginalized people, not people in positions of power that literally perpetuate the prison industrial complex. Otherwise, we’re entering into the paradox of tolerance. We’re tolerating those with power positioning themselves as immune to the consequences they created for other people (prisons), just because we believe prisons are unethical for everyone.
What I was getting at in my original post, though, is that those that orchestrate genocide and the mass exploitation of people - being that they are an active threat to human life and the environment - don’t deserve to live in any system we create.

Can you fucking Harry Potter freaks go one fucking day of your fucking life without comparing real fucking life to Harry fucking Potter for fuck’s sake
A lot of my favorite height difference pairings are just… “Gentle” (Perceived) Giant x A Little Bitch Bastard. The giant is actually a freak underneath it all while the other is approximately 5 complexes in a trench coat. DO NOT recommend me height difference ships if the smaller one is a nice, upstanding citizen. The taller one stands by their cancelled wife (gender neutral), and enjoys their punishment.
It’s so weird how people react to me wearing a mask when I am visibly ill with a sinus infection, coughing and sneezing non-stop. I don’t understand why I’m being interrogated for wearing it WHEN I’m sick. Do y’all want this infection? Like???
Something I really struggle to get people to understand is that like. Sometimes there was no intentional homoerotic subtext, the author was just extremely misogynistic. Sometimes the author wasn't "secretly shipping" those two men, the author literally just hates women so much that they see them as being literally incapable of relationships with depth. Like this is kind of a big thing with misogyny actually. A lot of extremely misogynistic people truly believe that a man can only have meaningful and complex relationships with other men because they literally just think women are so inferior they only exist to birth children and clean the house. It's like when people say along the lines of "no one worships exclusively men quite like straight men do". It's just that phenomenon actually. That happens to be manifesting in a raging misogynist's writing. Writing a man character who literally only puts effort into his friendships with other men while completely ignoring his literal girlfriend or wife is actually an extremely straight thing to write. And that doesn't mean you can't ship those men or that there are no stories with actual intentional homoerotic subtext. I just think it's important to be able to recognize extreme misogyny in writing and acknowledge it without brushing it off and assuming good intentions when literally all evidence is screaming that this was a misogynistic writing choice and not a representing gay men choice.

Imagine being the gays at a pride event in 2004 living their lives when someone grabs the microphone and announces to the room that Ronald Reagan was pronounced dead. Can you even imagine the hype, the celebration, the pure elation
This is the Pride Month that It will happen. I feel it in my gay bones

Btw, most stadiums I’ve been to in America are walkable.
The thing is nobody at pride is evaluating you to determine if you’re queer enough to be there because they’re too busy thinking “it’s so hot out” and “why is this lemonade 12 dollars?”
after seeing that poll about whether usamericans will be celebrating the 250th anniversary of their country, I have to ask: are they aware they are hosting the football world cup this summer
the 2026 football world cup is being hosted by the usa, mexico and canada
usamerican, I knew this
usamerican, I did not know this
not usamerican, I knew this
not usamerican, I did not know this
Are people not from the USA aware that not only has there been excessive online discourse over whether or not you can walk to the MetLife stadium (you can’t - but people not from here keep trying to argue that you can), but they are advertising and selling team USA FIFA merch everywhere including our grocery stores? C’mon now…
its 2026 i cannot handle any more fucking "author A obviously ripped off author B" discourse by people Who Have Only Seen the work of author B and admit themselves that they have no further knowledge of the literary landscape they are moving in. like.
I found out today that there was a (thankfully very ill-fated) attempt to have the entire Wikipedia article on discrimination against transgender men deleted. At first I thought the perpetrator was yet another bargain bin transphobe/TERF act of disruption but apparently not so, she is a trans woman. The user in question had been disputing the use of transandrophobia in the article as being inappropriate, but as other editors pointed out, the way in which it was used was as to be expected (basically saying “hey this term is being used commonly right now in places to describe this phenomena”). When attempts to get the article edited to remove any mention of the term failed, this user instead decided to just nominate the whole article for deletion instead. She even went as far as to say “you will never be a man” to the editors disputing this, though it was quickly deleted. It’s the actions of only a single person, but I find this indicative of how the chronic devaluing and othering of transmasculine people and voices in faux-transfeminist spaces leads to action basically indistinguishable from cis transphobes. Resorting to attempted vandalism of an online resource and blatant transphobia is a symptom of this trend that deserves absolutely no patience at this point.
