Some pictures from my last bag inspired by daggers!
Prototyping the next bag. Origami style! Who's lining up for these? #tw #bagdesign #origami
Shaping the bag. It's almost done! :)
Look! My salt shaker goes perfect with this #bag! ;) wanna finish the last three stitches for me? #tw #jonathanadler #devil #handmade
Hollow bag, new fashion trend? :) #tw #leather #handmade #crafts #fashion
Playing silly with straps that I’m making. Happy Sunday all! ;) #tw #handmade #handbag #devilstail #leather
Who would think of pairing my own handmade bag with #paul smith netting top? Maybe just me? Or anyone else?
Week 3: Kim Bag, It's coming along, I chose to do two pockets inserts this time and also the zipper pocket on the other side. I was also able to put to front-base-back together.
Pounding away with the pricker at the flap, prepping for sewing.
Week 2! Kim Bag. I'm just going to go by her last name since I'm making it for her. :) It's coming along! I just sewn the front leather panel accents on... Cut the flap and the strap in correct shape.
Gusset in or out… I think in! Well this picture shows out. I think "in" because I want to keep the bag shape accentuated and not distracted by the bulge that the gusset made. @ateralas, what do you think!?
So it's time for me to make something for others since I have been so selfish! First off, I'm making this for Riki Kim, a best friend of mine. This bag is a structured bag like a Birkin bag. I designed it inspired by daggers and arches, a little vampiry but modern! :) This is only my first week of doing this, Bea has been hands off but I know if she doesn't like it, she would say something. I only was able to cut all the pattern and do a couple design variation and pick colors of the bag today.
Fun Fact: if you want one of these, maybe we can go on a trip to Europe for a month like what Riki and I did together. If you pass that, maybe I will give you one! :) Who's in?
Do you know what "skiving" is? Hell!
Well let's try that again: It is when you use a knife to slowly shave off leather to reduce the edge down to nothing, well almost!
What follows is a series of frustration and natural cursing why I decided to come to this class in the first place! AND! my wrist is now numb, I can't even feel it. Well that lasted me for a day, like I said patience will get you there. Now give me a piece of leather, I will reduce it to nothing like magic!
Point is: this cube is not even worth talking about.
A TOTE! It seems like I'm in the intermediate class now. I want to bring in asymmetrical design but still simple and play with color but not too color-blocky either. I chose taupe/blue/brown, just my colors, well because this is for me! This bag will have a zippered pocket and phone pocket on the inside.
The bag will fit my iPad and letter size document with a little peekaboo effect at the top, hopefully this will catch eyes of many pickpocketers who want to steal my boring document.
Point is my documents are not boring! :)
Shall I call this project a torture? while it looks nice.... it took so long. It fits 8 cards...has a zipper pocket to put money in it and the locking straps on I learn so much from Bea working on this project, again this is her pattern so don't copy it! :) I think this project is a true test of patience. Both sides of the wallet looks exactly the same. so DOUBLE TIME!
I think I could give this to my mom, we will see if any of my friends from Thailand come to visit me in the next few months.
Point is don't have 8 credit cards! :)
This tray is not for food. :)
This cute little simple man purse came out so great! I'm so happy with it! Making 3-sided gusset for the first time. Thank you Bea! She's so thorough in her explanation. I'm sure she will have to tell me again next time we do this!
