My favourite part of Castlevania are the sweet fight scenes. I can’t make anything that crazy but I had fun making a little something.

In the same order as Camelids and Bovidae (Artiodactyla) is the family Cervidae. There are two species from the Genus Cervus that look so similar they were thought to be the same species: The Elk and the Red Deer. Both are bred for their meat and hunting. Both are considered invasive species with a negative ecological impact in places like Argentina where their eating habits affect the diversity of trees. Elks tend to be larger with a sharper difference between colours. Some subspecies are twice as heavy as their shorter cousin the Red Deer. Elks live naturally in North America and Eastern Asia, while the Red Deer is more common on Western and Central Asia, Europe and Northwest Africa (its the only African deer) Another key difference is the sounds they make to attract females. Red Deers have a guttural deep sound, like a lion roar. Elks have a high pitched sound that can be heard for several miles called Bugling Male Red deers are Stags and females are Hinds, while male Elks are Bulls and females are Cows. Hope you find this information useful! #deer #stag #illustration #elk #wildlife #hunting #reddeer #animalfacts #digitalart #animals #nature #animallovers #canadawestillustrators https://www.instagram.com/p/BqtoUlvHLB2/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=t3j4fzlow9hv
There is the common misconception that there is a Bison AND an American Buffalo, but that’s just the same big headed animal we’ve all seen in western movies. There are two types of Bison: American Bison and European Bison. The American Bison made a miraculous recovery after been hunted almost to extinction by the English settlers. Now their numbers are kind of stable, although threats like the loss of habitat to make space for cattle or the cross breeding with domesticated Bison still take their toll on the population. European Bison look pretty similar, but they have a smaller shoulder hump, they are taller and slimmer and their head isn’t as hairy. These guys were reintroduced to parts of Europe like Spain, Czech Republic, Denmark and Germany. More than half of the wild population is found in Poland and Belarus. Buffalos are something completely different, same subfamily (Bovinae) but different Genus. There are two wild species of Buffalo. Cape or African Buffalo and the Water Buffalo. The African Buffalo is known to be one of the Big Five, making them desired trophies for game hunters. They are one of the most aggressive animals in Africa and are known lion killers. The Water Buffalo is a calm gentle giant, most of them found in India. There is Wild Water Buffalo and Domesticated Water Buffalo. I kept this infographic short because there are so many differences between them and each species will take a whole post. #illustration #digitalart #canadawestillustrators #animallovers #bison #buffalo #hunting #animals #animalfacts #nature #wildlife #scbwi https://www.instagram.com/p/BqgBHlvnxru/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1xlnf8albznaz
Information will be in comments because there is way too much of it I present you the king of the American continent: The American Crocodile #illustration #digitalart #canadawestillustrators #animallovers #animalfacts #scbwi #nature #crocodiles #florida #america #wildlife #animals #reptiles #ecology https://www.instagram.com/p/Bqac_7ZH6-E/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=ix33qqpj0rnw
Ever wondered what are the differences between Crocodiles, Alligators and Gharials? (Did you even knew about gharials? Because I didn’t) The body is very similar between the three families, but the snouts are the key to identify them. -True Crocodiles (Crocodylidae family) have the biggest crocodilians. - Crocodiles have the highest tolerance to salt water, species like the American Crocodile and the Salt Water Crocodile even prefer waters with higher salinity levels and can swim in the sea -Crocodiles snout tends to be pointier (they have a mean look) and their lower jaw teeth are visible when their mouth is closed (Spooky smile) - Crocodiles tend to have a light grey green skin -Also 3 of the 4 species with most human attacks are from this family. They are grumpy aggressive giants and they don’t like people joking around them. Although attacks rarely happen (it’s not like in movies, don’t worry) -Alligators (alligators vs caimans will be another time) from the family Aligatoridae are not as sensitive to cold as the other two. -Alligators have a cute rounded snout that’s as wide as their head. -Alligators are the most vocal crocodilians -Alligators smile isn’t as scary, only the upper teeth are visible -Alligators skin is a dark deep green that works fantastic as camouflage -Gharials (Gavaloidea Family) have a skinny snout and protuberant eyes -Gharials are specialized hunters of fish -Gharials teeth are all a very similar size and all of them are visible when their mouth is closed Some cool things they all have in common is that they can regrow their teeth up to 50 times!! Another not so cool thing they have in common is the decreasing populations due to over hunting, habitat loss and pollution. Hope this information was helpful. I’ll be making some specific species and genus of each family. They are truly amazing creatures #alligator #gator #crocodile #gharial #reptiles #animals #animallovers #illustration #scbwi #canadawestillustrators #animalfacts #wildlife #biology #nature https://www.instagram.com/p/BqX62atne8r/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1qkvo46v6u15z
After a couple days of real struggle, I finally finished the next series of animal facts! These guys are sooooo hard to draw The Crocodilia Order has 3 different families Crocodylidae (true crocodiles) Alligatoridae (caimans and alligators) Gavialidae (gharial, false gharial) Some of their key physical characteristics are -Stubby limbs (front are not webbed in most cases) - Muscular lizard like body - Flat snouts (the easiest way of differentiating species) -Vertically compressed tail They are close relatives of birds! They have a unidirectional breathing system (just without the airbags) They have a gizzard that helps with digestion. The poor things can’t chew their food so they have to tore it apart or swallow it whole They have a cloaca (pee, poo and sexy fluids all go through the same opening) Their young can talk to each other and their parents before they hatch with little cute cries Crocodilians have a strong maternal instinct! After a month of pregnancy, the female creates a big nest for her young. Depends on the temperature if the young will be male or female. If it’s more than 32 they will be male, less than 31 will be female. The litters can be mixed Do you know the differences between the three families?? #illustration #art #drawing #crocodile #alligator #caiman #animals #biology #animallovers #reptiles #animalfacts #nature #wildlife https://www.instagram.com/p/BqSzexKHC4-/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1rta4g8yo4ng2
The Dromedary Camel and the Bactrian Camel are the two domesticated species of the genus Camelus Here are some key differences! -Dromedaries are originally from North Africa, while Bactrian Camels are from Asia. -Bactrians are bigger and have a thick winter coat -Dromedaries think it’s sexy to stick out their swollen Soft Palate covered in saliva, this is called Dulla. Bactrian Camels are more vanilla and stick to the habit of mating while lying down (like Alpacas and Llamas) -Dromedaries have a three sets eyelids and two sets of eyelashes. They also have hard skin on their limbs to protect them from the hot sand while kneeling. -There are feral Dromedaries in Australia and feral Bactrians in China, but the only truly wild species of the Camelys genus is the Wild Bactrian Camel in the Gobi Desert (with numbers under a 1000, these animals are critically endangered) -Both species can survive without drinking water for a month, but when they finally get to, they can drink up to 50 L at once. -Both are great pack animals, although the Bactrian Camel can carry heavier weight And that’s it for the great and tough family of Camelidae! Hope you enjoyed it :) #camel #dromedary #desert #animallovers #animalfacts #wildlife #nature #art #illustration #digitalart #scbwi #canadawestillustrators #drawing #biology https://www.instagram.com/p/BqHONg7ns3F/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1tyjba2bbl0dp
Took a break from real animals to make this grumpy griffin in honour of my first pet: Tacho. He is the personification of denial. Tacho has broken every single branch he has sat on, admitting his bad eating habits it's not part of his plans Tacho will growl and destroy anything that's prettier than him, which, to be honest, happened a couple times a day Tacho sees himself as a magnificent and agile beast, although his clumsiness already costed him a bruise or two. #illustration #canadawestillustrators #scbwi #drawing #ink #art #characterdesign #creature https://www.instagram.com/p/Bp_U5HnH-ne/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=2c3o5yhec58d
Alpacas and Llamas are more different than I originally thought! They don't even belong to the same genus, Lama is the genus for Llamas and Vicugna for Alpacas. Here are some key differences: -Alpacas are 10 inches (30 cm) shorter and 100 lb (45 kg) lighter than Llamas - Llamas are braver and if they feel threatened they spit, while Alpacas tend to be more timid -Alpacas produce a super soft fleece that's hypoallergenic. Llamas are used more for their meat and as transport (they can carry 1/4 of their weight!) -Alpacas face is rounded and super fluffy, their ears are shorter and pointy. Llamas ears are banana shaped and their face is long and has short hair. Both the Alpaca and Llama had been domesticated for about 5000 years. But do you know they have wild relatives? #llama #alpaca #illustration #animalovers #pets #domesticanimals #animals #nature #wildlife #biology #art #drawing #canadawestillustrators #scbwi https://www.instagram.com/p/Bp-cbT4n8Vw/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=rntcklvnq8kf
Camelids are a Family from de Order Artiodactyl: pair of functional toes Suborder Tylopoda: padded feet Some of the coolest characteristics of camelids are: -Oval blood cells, which keep blood flowing even when it gets really thick. A great way of preventing dehydration! - A stomach composed of 3 parts instead of 4 like ruminants: reticulum, rumen and omasum. Their digestive process uses fermentation and it is mechanical (they regurgitate and chew on the food twice, kind of gross) - They have vestigial tusks and really long limbs and neck Camelids are made to endure dry conditions and move through harsh environments Do you know the wild relatives of alpacas and llamas?? #illustration #canadawestillustrators #llamas #alpacas #animals #animalovers #biology #phylogenetictree #nature #wildlife https://www.instagram.com/p/Bp7wZuHHHiF/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=umx3dwnldf1b
