Marion: What do you mean by “too?” Don’t lump me in with you.
Victor: That’s not what I meant, though….
[Victor changes out of his lab coat]
Victor: Is something wrong? You’re usually asleep by this time.
Marion: Same as ever….stop acting like you know everything….
Marion: ……He still hasn’t come back.
Victor: You mean Gast?
Marion: Yeah.
Victor: So you were worried and subsequently unable to sleep…..?
[more changing noises]
Marion: N-no way! That’s not……
Marion: You were the one! who told me to keep an eye on him!
Victor: Yes….So that’s why you dutifully stayed up and waited for him to come back?
Marion: ……Ugh, you really are so…….
Victor: Apologies for that.
Marion: ….Huh?
Victor: That was careless on my part. Had I given any thought before requesting you to do that, I should have been able to predict this scenario.
Victor: Feel free to retire for the night. I’ll stay up a little longer to wait for him.
Marion: You…is this your way of trying to be considerate?
Victor: ?
Marion: Stop doing gross things!
Victor: Being considerate, huh…. That wasn’t my intention, but perhaps it was a factor…….
Victor: —No, I don’t think so.
Victor: Rather than being considerate, it might….be more accurate to say I was treating you like a child.
Marion: !?
Victor: If you were my age—a peer like Nova, for example, I don’t think I would have said it the way I did.
Victor: I simply felt that it wasn’t right to force you, who is younger and less experienced than me, to do something too far out of your comfort zone.
Marion: Y-you……
Marion: I accept that I’m younger than you. But I will not accept being called inexperienced—
Victor: That I understand.
Marion: ……?
Victor: I disliked being treated that way, so I understand how you feel.
Victor: You don’t like being treated like a child, right?
Marion: …..Y-yeah. I don’t just dislike it, I really hate it.
Victor: As I suspected…..
Victor: I’ve made a number of mistakes in my responses. Pardon me.
Marion: Wh-what is that? You’re acting weirder than usual today…..
Victor: There is one more thing I know.
Victor: You don’t like being treated like a child, but if it’s by Nova’s hand, you accept it easily, right?
Marion: ……!
Victor: When you’re vulnerable……..no, see, if you’re tired, please go to Nova.
Victor: If it’s him, he’ll always welcome you with open arms.
Marion: ……….
Victor: I tried to say things that would appease you, but did something there bother you?
Marion: ……Not really.
Marion: Hmph….I’d do that without you telling me to.
Victor: Is that so…
[Marion tucks in]
Victor: Are you going to bed? Then, I’ll turn off the lights.
[Room light dims]
Marion: …..Victor.
Victor: Yes?
Marion: I’m leaving him to you….for today….
Marion: Tomorrow, again…. I’ll be the one to look after……
Victor: ……….
Victor: (.....I can hear his breathing. Seems he’s already fallen asleep.)
Marion: He might be in the middle of maintenance? I’m pretty sure he used to do it everyday without fail.
Gast: Where’d he go without his glasses? Won’t he struggle without them?
[Victor walks in]
Marion: Nah, that’s not an issue. They aren't prescription lenses*.
Gast: Eh!? This whole time!?
Victor: What seems to be the matter?
Gast: T-that might be the most surprised I’ve been in a while……
Victor: ?
Marion: Is it alright for you to just leave your glasses here? Wouldn’t it be bad if you lost them?
Victor: Not a problem. Of course, I don’t intend to lose them, but I have installed a GPS into the frame in case the situation does arise.
Gast: A GPS!? In glasses!?
Victor: That aside, Marion. The anniversary of Oswald’s death is approaching again. Are you doing anything this year?
Marion: I suppose so….Could we put those plans on hold for a little longer? Ren’s going through a difficult time right now.
Victor: You say that, though, I’m in a similar situation.
Marion: You wouldn’t miss Oswald’s death anniversary for the world, right?
Marion: I’ll watch over the team, so you can go.
Victor: Is that so? Thank you very much.
Gast: Do you guys all meet up every year for Professor Oswald’s anniversary?
Victor: By, “you guys”, you mean….?
Gast: Aaah, uh, Professor Nova, and Jack and Jacqueline….?
Victor: Essentially, yes. Although, I’m considering inviting Cathy to join us this year.
Gast: I see. She was also around Oswald a lot huh. I know Professor Nova’s left a stronger impression, but he was also like a father to you right, Marion?
Marion: Well, in the sense of being my creator**, yes.
Marion: Of course I do have memories of him, but we didn’t spend much time together. I personally think Nova’s had a much stronger influence on me.
Victor: In fact, it was Nova who looked after Marion as a child, though I also helped out sometimes.
Victor: Oswald was busier back then than Nova is now, and he was bedridden with illness in his later years.
Marion: I don’t remember you taking care of me.
Victor: What you think of my contributions is none of my concern, but please don’t forget Oswald’s.
Victor: He didn’t have much time, but it’s true he was always thinking about you.
Marion: Like I said, I do remember him.
Gast: What kind of memories did you have of Professor Oswald?
Marion: Hmm… Looking back, I may have more memories of spending time with him outside of the lab.
Gast: Really? What kinda places did you go to?
Marion: Yes, Though they were all close by, we went to parks and botanical gardens, he taught me about flowers and plants, and also took me to the zoo.
Victor: Oswald’s main expertise lay in Substance Engineering, but he was also a respected figure in biology.
Victor: He grew up in an area surrounded by a lot of nature, so he was knowledgeable on plants and living things, and he taught us a lot about them in turn.
Gast: Huuh~, seems like it’d be nice to have an adult like that around.
Marion: Well….he’d suddenly appear and take me outside, so I remember always being a little nervous around him.
Victor: On a side note, he’d take you out without telling anyone, which caused a commotion quite a few times.
Gast: Ah, haha…. I guess so-called geniuses like that all have a carefree side to them huh.
Victor: By the way, Gast. When was Colonel Adler scheduled to leave the tower?
Gast: Aah, it was supposed to be tonight. The police are probably picking him up right around now?
Victor: Are you alright with not seeing him off?
Gast: A—....In my case, I don’t really care either way. Though Hannah said she’d see him off.
Gast: I still don’t know what kind of face I should make when I see him, and we’re not that close anyways.
Victor: I see.
Marion: Wasn’t there a time when your relationship was better?
Gast: Eh….
Marion: When you were a kid, you said you went on family vacations every year, right?***
Marion: I don’t know what those trips were like ….but were there moments where it was fun?
Gast: That’s…..
Gast: I guess. Most of the memories of those family vacations were fun.
Marion: ….So wouldn’t it be better to see him off then?
Victor: It won’t be a final farewell by any means, but it will be much harder to see him again from hereon out.
Gast: Hannah seemed like she wanted me to come with her….I guess I’ll just accompany her.
Marion & Victor: …….
Gast: I think I have just enough time if I hurry. I’ll head off.
Marion: Yeah, go ahead.
[Gast runs off]
Victor: I hope he makes it on time.
Marion: ….I suppose I should also make time for it.
Victor: What are you referring to?
Marion: I should visit Oswald properly this year too.
Marion: I only have a few memories of our time together, but I’m sure it was fun…. And every view Oswald showed me was fresh and beautiful.
Victor: I see.
Victor: This is just speculation, but I think Oswald may have wanted to leave you with as many of those things as possible.
Marion: ….I hope so.
Victor: Come to think of it, I don’t think we’ve had many opportunities to discuss Oswald.
Victor: If you’d like to know more, should I tell you?
Marion: Eh……
Victor [getting closer menacingly]: If you’re interested, it wouldn’t hurt to learn more—
Marion: ….T-that’s enough! I don’t want to know!
Marion: No, it’s not that I don’t want to learn….but I don’t want to hear it from you!
Victor: Maybe in a few years, this conversation will become a fond memory.

Nova: Yeah, sometimes he cries so much his voice goes hoarse….
Victor: I’ve already changed and fed him. If he was just sleepy, I thought holding him like this he’d fall asleep right away, but…..
Victor: I really can’t parse the cause for this. For his own sake, would it be better if we used the power of science to get him to stop crying?
Nova: W-what are you planning to do with the power of science~? Compared to other kids, Marion’s just a little more of a crybaby.

Nova: Is it really all that great? Dad was all like “Don’t get ahead of yourself~”, while laughing.
Victor: He can only say that because he’s Oswald. Being around a genius like him all the time has numbed your senses. You’re already a prodigy.
Nova: U~hm…. Though if you ask me, Vic’s more of a prodigy.

Victor: Are you planning to make the new AI robot call you “Papa” too?
Nova: Eh
Victor: That was the way you configured it, right? I was wondering if there was some kind of intention behind it.
Nova: I didn’t set that up. Before I knew it, Jacqueline just kinda started calling me “Papa”….
Victor: Is that even possible? You made that robot yourself.
Nova: It’s possible it was dad’s doing…..but he said he didn’t know anything about it when I asked him.
Jacqueline: Papa is Papa, so I call him Papa! Is that weird….?
Nova: See, when you say it like that now it makes me think twice about rewriting the code~
