hikes are very good yes but a deluxe hike is when you are accompanied by a freak with niche nature knowledge. they’re like omg stop there’s a horned valerian varmint beetle here and then you both get to crouch down and look at a bug like :)

I start a new job tomorrow and have been coping by exploring cafes in my new town and reading what brought me so much joy in childhood, classic fantasy with Mercedes Lackey’s Magic’s Pawn. My first job since graduating with my Master’s!

Ok like. Imagine life without ads. You wake up, check your messages across a variety of apps, no ads. You get up and put on the tv while you prep your breakfast, no ads. Maybe you drive somewhere and switch on the radio, no ads. Maybe you drive a long distance, yet somehow, not a single billboard on your path. You pick up a newspaper or magazine to pass the time, no advertisements only articles. You turn on your game console, the home screen is just about your games, no ads to buy more. You open a streaming app, you don't pay extra for no ads, there's just no ads ever.
Think about how much of your time is spent looking at ads. "Download ublock" yeah I know, I have. But that doesn't change that the world is covered with endless advertising. Imagine never seeing that again. How much better our lives would be.
washing dishes is evil because you go "oh fuck there's so many dishes this is gonna take foreverrr" and then you enter the dish abyss and emerge with your abdomen somehow covered in water and your hands all wrinky and then you look at the clock and what felt like half an hour was actually 10 minutes

Ō Fellow Romans,
I'm back. Did I vanish as exams began? Yes, I did. I went mildly insane, but now it's summer and I am trying my best to return to keep my sanity.
Despite summer being the worst season and the summer holiday always making me miserable, I'm making sure I have some mental activity. I'm trying to read again, both classics and fiction. I am attempting to teach myself some latin, I can only pray I don't fuck it up too terribly. I'm also drawing and journalling and just doing anything I can to not be on my phone, really.
Will probably bring some updates to keep myself accountable!

My favourite part of my trip to nyc, was entering this bookstore and they were playing old Bollywood music! Got two books by a Turkish author as my little souvenir
