     Caitlyn  stops  herself  before  she  begins  a  flood  of  support  ;  first  instinct  ,  and  while  her  intentions  are  pure  ,  that  is  but  a  bandage  upon  wounded  heart  .  Vi’s  words  are  hissed  ,  tense  ,  as  if  a  sound  too  loud  will  open  a  floodgate  they  cannot  control  .  The  world  has  been  needlessly  cruel  to  all  of  Zaun  :  a  cruelty  she  cannot  ,  even  with  what  she  has  witnessed  ,  begin  to  understand  .

     It  will  all  seem  insincere  .  She  cannot  relate  ,  cannot  entirely  empathize  ,  no  matter  how  deeply  she  wishes  she  could  .  

     “  You  don’t  need  to  hold  back  ,  Vi  .  You  don’t  need  to  keep  it  together  all  the  time  .  That’s  not  fair  to  you  .  You’re  allowed  to  express  that  you’re  hurting  .  “
