I do! I must admit I am very proud of my Zonai/Aspect Impa, she was extremely fun to draw! The jade armor went so well with her color palette :D

Rules

How you share your process is up to you, it can be a timelapse video, or various screenshots throughout the process with some commentary, or a tutorial if you like!

Now, I share my process quite often (basically whenever I don't forget to record the timelapse), but I feel like I never really comment on it, so here we go

Step 1: Basic composition

Even if I already have one composition in my mind for a piece, I always try to brainstorm and sketch a few different options. I actually came up with the final one right away, but wanted to try something else before I even sketched it out just in case. I ended up picking it because it shows both the sky islands and the surface, combining the worlds the two boys come from

Step 2: Sketch

A detailed sketch with proper expressions, proportions and perspective (if necessary)

Recently I dropped the lineart stage and started cleaning up the sketches instead. I've mentioned it before, but I've been working on building up my confidence with my lines, and I'm definitely getting there! I still erase/add more weight to the sketch when I'm done with it, but at least it's not as messy as it used to be

Step 3: Values

Values are another thing that I've started working on more. They're the most important part of the image, so if the values are messed up - the whole piece feels off, so instead of frantically fixing them in the end with a shit ton of filter layers, I start with them, blocking out the lightest and the darkest parts and adding some subtle shading

Step 4: Basic color

This step is... different for each piece lol. For this piece specifically I used a gradient map as a first step of coloring, adding some yellow/light green overlays on top, but sometimes I just use an airbrush on layers set to color/overlay/multiply and then merge them all with the values layer.

The palette depends on the mood: my works are mostly very fluffy and cozy, so I use warm colors a lot (yellow... everywhere.... that's my favorite color..) Also, since there's a lot of green and blue in this work, I added the complementary purple and orange in shadows to make the colors pop.

Shading also depends on the mood! Those soft works have very soft, natural lighting, an the more serious ones have a more dramatic lighting, usually with some strong light source for contrast

Step 5: Coloring the characters

This step is always separate because my pieces are always character-centric, so the characters always need more attention (see how masterfully she's denying that she hates painting backgrounds).

The line/sketch is set to Multiply and colored (usually into dark magenta or a cool green color depending on MY mood lol). There's a base color for the characters already, which kinda tricks my brain into picking the colors that look good with it. I always paint skin and hair first.

The most important part of this step is to always check the values! It's very easy to mess them up here, so what I do is 1) create a new layer 2) fill it with white/black/grey 3) set it to the "Color" mode 4) hide and unhide it while you paint. Some details might end up having a different value, but it's important that the whole character is still separate from the background.

Step 6: Render

FINALLY, render. For the characters, I create a new layer, set it to Multiply and just paint those shadows. The color of the shadows depends on the environment, it reflects it: for example, in the outdoor setting shadows are blue because they reflect the blue sky. I also always add some blush (dark red/pink set to Overlay, under the shading layer), and some light to make it all shine (light yellow/orange set to Overlay/Soft light, painted with a soft brush above the lineart). For the hair I add a Color dodge layer and paint the highlights with the same color I use for hair (or a color leaning more into red)

Now, that's the stage where I have the most fun with the background. To make it look interesting you can make the colors buzz by using a special color selector that looks like this:

So, what's the trick? Basically, you have a base color for something, and to make it buzz you need to build it up by adding colors that slightly vary in hue, value or saturation.

Step 7: Details and insanity

Noticed how composition on those WIPs looked.. different from the finished piece? Well, usually when I'm done with some basic rendering I start feeling that something is off. Even if it isn't.

So, I try to fix it by cropping, and recropping, and undoing it, and recropping again, and "oh it looks kinda empty. I need to add flowers", and then adding trees too, and then it looks oversaturated, and that island above draws too much attention, and then-

That's what happens on bad days. On good days I finish everything off by adding some brushstrokes here and there, some shadows/light with an airbrush and a gradient map set to low opacity on top.

it's actually an experiment that I was forced into because I had to spend a day on my second OS, got bored, installed krita on there, didn't have my regular brushes but wanted to paint SO BAD. and here we are (Twilight was also part of the experiment but I don't really like how he turned out so shhhhh)

gonna drop this too, those are exploration sketches originally, but I kinda liked my first attempt so it's more of a ref sheet now.. and now I think that I should make ref sheets for the rest of them cause why does Time always look different, is it just me

YES THE IMPRISONING WAR!!!

The original Imprisoning war is SO Interesting! This is my favorite era in Hyrule! (Still upset that one Hyrule Warriors game took it's name)

What happened was; After Ganon killed the young Hero of Time, he obtained all 3 pieces of the Triforce, but Zelda with the help of the 7 sages was able to seal him in the Sacred Realm, but because of Ganon's evil the Sacred Realm was corrupted and turned into the Dark World. People learned of the Golden Power in the Sacred Realm and started going in never to be seen again, over time people wanted it so bad a war broke out. The 7 wise men were tasked to seal it for good, but they had to be protected by the Knight of Hyrule Clan. (Different from the Knights of Hyrule, think Shieka but Knights) In the battle literally every single one of the Knights were killed, but the mission was a success.

Legend is the last remaining member of the Knights of Hyrule Clan in his era.

(A survivor from the war had kids and eventually Legend was born)

I love this era SO much because there is no Link, no Zelda AND No Ganon! This is a serious event in Hyrule History that didn't have ANY of these three involved in at ALL.

Another view of my Fairy AU designs for Rulie and Legend I made for fun (and probably last one of just these two for now so I can stop procrastinating the rest of the chain's designs).

I'm glad that my first post of what had originally just been a spontaneous idea for a prompt was received so positively, not to mention I love seeing others be as enamored as I am over these guys so thank you!

Aftermath of This Comic

Hoo boy y'all really liked the fireshield earring comic, that thing's gone past 2k notes, I'm flattered! 

Here's what I imagine happened after the prank, as originally written in a reply to a comment:

Sky would roll himself out of the fire before anyone tried any unnecessary heroics and actually got hurt trying to save him. And when his earrings activate and everyone just stares at his unharmed body in shock? He absolutely looses it. Full on deep-to-wheezy laugh until he's gasping for breath, and while some of the others want to scold him for scaring them like that, they just can't stay mad at him and can't help but laugh along. Wild gets several great pictures but is also assigned first watch with Sky as "punishment" when the Chain finds out he was involved. Of course, Sky's been laughing so hard that he can't help but drop into a deep sleep after a few minutes, leaving Wild to do first watch alone. Wild lets it slide. He has funny pictures to keep him up ^u^

Also thank you to the Anon Ask yesterday that said the Sky and Wild prank duo tracks! I wasn't completely comfortable posting the ask as it had an abbreviated swear but I'm so thankful that you liked the fire shenanigans, haha!

Everyone forgets about the fireshield earrings!

Probably a stretch to say they'd canonically prevent at least mild pain in a campfire, but they absolutely do extinguish Sky/Link any time he catches fire in his game. Which is more often than you'd think >u< (for the purposes of the comic this is a completely pain-free prank for Sky lol)

As much as I love people portraying botw link as some feral pyromaniac (because it does have its charm) it makes me sad that we lose so much of his character...

He woke up, and the first thing he does when be steps outside is stop and view the world, the sun, the trees, the beauty of life! He might fumble around a bit as he regains his footing, but he's a incredibly quick learner. He keeps meticulous records and lists (his memories, what plants do, near strangers requests, points of interest he finds)

He's a little impatient, he love jokes and sarcasm, he blushes at compliments, he's to young to drink. When the Rito mistake him for a descendant of a Champion, he doesnt bother correcting them. He's humble, he supports others. He hordes what he can. He has a strong sense of personal responsibility.

He's eager to be alive, to love, to be cared for, to see the beauty of the world!!
