Prompt 2009 - Wild finds himself too confident and overzealous in a battle against a hoard of monsters. Letting it get to his head, Wild accidentally injures himself from his lack of care. Worried for his safety, the others are certainly not proud at his risky behavior. - @5pace-0ut1aw
Now, it's not like Wild is proud of occasional bouts of moderate injury, but the fact is they're a part of life and have not —so far— been a part of death. He did not die from carelessness, he died from fighting guardians for two days straight so if he occasionally gets a bone or eight broken by a minor bomb induced landslide he doesn't really see what the big deal is. That's what potions are for, and this is —after all— his job.
The others disagree.
"What were you thinking, Wild!?" The captain demands.
Nag, nag, nag.
"You could have been killed!"
He hates this, the treating him like a child or an idiot. No one here is his parent or commanding officer.
"If we had to fish your body out—"
Wild cuts him off. "But I wasn't! Here I am, alive," he points to the remnants of the landslide, "there the monsters are, dead."
"Be that as it may…" Time begins. Oh, it's the tag team.
What if he just got up and walked away? Left them to find their own way, just return to his own life of doing this alone. Something twists in his gut at the thought, but going on like this is intolerable too.
"We're just worried about you," Four says softly, sensing his mood.
"Why don't you try to show it without the babying and lectures," Legend chips in.
"We're not," Wars says.
"You were reckless, overconfident" Time, trying to bring the point back around.
"If I wasn't Calamity Ganon would still be here. If I wasn't Zelda would still be fighting instead," Wild stands his ground, he's so tired of this. "It's not your responsibility to rein me in, or wrap me in cotton. I'm not your ward.
"You got hurt," Sky adds softly.
He glares them down. "And I've been hurt before and I'll be hurt again! And so have you! 'Overconfident'. What is the right amount of confidence for someone who saved Hyrule?"
I love your cosplay!! So the hair is your real hair as was stated earlier, but how do you style it? And do you perchance have pictures of it that I could maybe show to my barber..? Have a nice day :]
TYSM!!! Genuinely honored that you're considering getting a similar haircut & wanna use me as inspiration 😭🥺🫶
Your ask also hella inspired me, so I present:

DISCLAIMER: This is my own personal experience with my hair type & I am DEFINITELY not a professional!! You can prob see that I go over my hair several times with the flat iron (NOT ADVISED), & that's bc I'm a perfectionist & my hair is just. Insane. I shampoo/condition it the next day & it's just fine and normal. Idk man. Even after years and years of this, it's just chilling. Anyway, hope you enjoy! :D
𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐘 — how i write warriors, my thoughts on him, and other headcanons and rambles :) (1.9k words)
𝐓𝐀𝐆𝐒 — not reader-insert, war talk, slightly NSFW, talks of sexuality + sleeping around, mentions of PTSD but it's literally just mentions of the disorder itself
𝐀𝐔𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐑'𝐒 𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐄 — our captain! and my personal favorite of the boys. you can tell with how long it is. part 2 of this ask
Warriors is also a leader!! But mainly second in command amongst the group dynamics. He gets a little frustrated when his plans aren't accepted and/or adhered to. He genuinely wants to know why people are disagreeing with him. Is there a factor he hasn't considered or been made aware of? What are the advantages of the other approaches?
His military and fighting experience lowkey gives him a superiority complex(?). He knows how to work in a group; they do not (minus Four, but they don't really know that atm). Please listen to him.
As you can imagine though, this mentality doesn't always pass well with the others. But they can't deny, he acts this way for a reason. Warriors is one of those "I've got an ego and the skills/talent to back it up" people almost. It unfortunately falls through when nobody wants to listen to him. And then it pisses some people off because if things go wrong, they know it's because they didn't listen to him and He Was Right.
His top skill is Knowing How to Lead and Guide a Team, and it doesn't work if said team doesn't want to be entirely lead and guided. But put him back in the military setting with soldiers who follow him, and you'll see the captain in his natural state.
I personally think this thing about him is why he and Legend clash (not in a friendly banter way) sometimes. Legend is described to also be the leader type, but chooses not to be. So he sometimes has a bit of an "I could've done this better" attitude.
I saw (and agreed with) a post talking about how he has this tendency to ask people questions half-seriously, in a casual manner, but he's always expecting an actual answer. It was there with his Guidance Counselor Five-Year-Plan moment with Wild, and again sometime else the post pointed out, but I can't remember when RIP.
Anywho, Warriors is not a fan of people dodging his questions. Be as unserious as you want, as long as you give him a legit answer. He will definitely read into how you phrase your answers though. Lowkey analyzes people a lot.
The war did and didn't affect him in the ways you think. Honestly, I haven't played the game (I don't think many people have tbh), so I don't really know how the fighting was? But I feel that a lot of the war-related PTSD we see in literature these days is heavily influenced by guerrilla and modern warfare. And well, they don't have that. So I'm not really sure how to depict his war PTSD. I don't see too many time-period shows go into it either.
If we go the super super canon route, than it's literally just him being deployed into the battlefield and mowing down enemies in sword fight and whatnot. It's hard to go a super canon route though, because then that makes every other soldier on the damn battlefield the most incompetent person ever. Also, I think traitors/turncoats appear literally like once? in the game. And it's people being mind-controlled.
So no, I don't think he's going to get scared of fireworks (if they exist); they don't have bombs like that, and they certainly don't make the same explosion sounds.
He's used to being alert in the nights because of sudden attacks, but he probably slept more as he rose up in ranks and it became a duty for people of lower rank. Still alert though, and is able to equip everything in less than three minutes.
Seeing his comrades die has given him PTSD. Something he can never forget. I don't think Cia herself has given him much PTSD, because honestly I don't think the two of them directly interacted with each other that much. And the one time they did, I think she tried to kill him?Idk man, didn't play the game. Either way, HW canon isn't real so who cares.
Ok, let's put him in a casual setting now :)
Ooooh he’s a smug bastard. Like yes, of course he;s a gentleman. But he's also a smug bastard. Makes half-hearted jokes about the others; loves to banter (he never loses, only concedes); pokes about their personal life (he's nosy), and you can't get much out of him in return cause he's kinda boring outside of military life. It's just been his life for so long, and he's honestly not that interested in settling down and retiring.
Similar to Time, he's quick to shut down joking and banter in serious situations. The others are young and confident and think they can handle these situations with ease, and they probably can. Individually. They can't when a whole bunch of them think like that and are used to handling things individually. The Not Knowing How to Work in a Team weakness strikes.
Once a situation de-escalates—given that there's no reason to lecture any of the others—he's fine with resuming jokes and stuff; his typical demeanor returns pretty quick.
He's a little touchy with others his age, and also on the younger ones like Wind. Likes to give a smack on the shoulder, ruffle hair, and has slapped Twilight's booty before. Warriors treats Time like the younger ones when it comes to physical affection, cause yeah he's old, but he's also still Mask to him.
He's given Time a noogie before. It didn't end well because the old man put him in a headlock and returned it tenfold. Time is unfortunately much stronger than him now, and he couldn't get out of his grasp, and now his hair is really messed up too.
One of his best/worst traits is that he has a very cute sneeze. It was all over for him the first time it happened in front of the others. More than once, someone has silenced him in playful banter by imitating his sneeze. This is the only way to make him "lose" an argument, so long as he doesn't have leverage against you as well.
To add on to this, I saw a post of somebody saying that when Twilight sneezes, it's a straight-up yell. A howl almost. So put the two of them side-by-side, and it's hilarious. I love it so much.
Warriors knows how to flirt, but he rarely does it cause he's lowkey kinda scared of women and commitment. With how smooth he is with his comebacks and jabs, you'd think he'd have all the ladies over him. And that's honestly like his worst nightmare if he's going out for drinks. It'd be funny to think that some of his supposed "women troubles" comes from him accidentally joking/bantering with them in a way that's typical with other boys, but not women lol.
Also, I headcanon him to be bisexual, but I mention women here ^ because I just don't think he'd really flirt with men that much when he's going out. This is mainly because I'm subconsciously leaning towards a heteronormative society, and I'm just unsure of how dynamics would work if like, everyone was bi.
Make everyone accepting? Sure, easy. Being gay might not be common, but it's whatever; you do you. Make queerness common and whatnot? Great in theory, but I have no idea how that would work/look like.
When it comes to men, Warriors first tries to get the vibe that they might also be into men before trying to make a move. He's not afraid of shooting his shot in general, and it doesn't matter that much either if it's a man. Because either he'll be interested too or it can be interpreted as just bro's talking to each other (in a pretty accepting society). Not too much to lose.
One of his number one fears/reasons for being a bit scared of commitment, is that he doesn't really want to change his life for someone else. Yeah yeah, he's heard that spiel about how there's a lot you'd do for the person you love. But well guess what, he hasn't met anyone like that. I feel like a modern response to that could also be, why couldn't his S/O be like that for him, but given the time period and his status in the military, I think it'd be really hard for someone to do that for him.
Side ramble, I can lowkey see him in his older age, being one of those highly regarded military generals who secretly has a sugar baby. Low commitment, no need to deal with kids and settle, and all the other benefits and things. And I refuse to believe this man won't age well with how well he takes care of his appearance. maybe i should explore this on @pennysrentfee hehe
The only reason Warriors wants kids is because of the sailor. But seeing everyone else's kids, and also lowkey dealing with Mask during the war, has made him also not want kids. They're great from a distance, but not too up-close. And one of the reasons he likes Wind so much is because of Wind's big brother behavior towards him that Warriors is not aware of. "I am a menace, but also acting like little brother because you clearly need it. And that itself is big brother behavior."
There's a lot of stuff around his sexuality, and I honestly never keep it consistent in my thoughts AND writing. Yes, I do see and understand the aroace take on him. But I also have written so much smut about him, and so much more to come.
Going off of his women issues, I'd just say that he's pretty non-committal, but he's open to the general idea of being in a relationship; it'd just be pretty hard to get there given his circumstances.
Warriors is fine being single forever, and doesn't feel the need to get into a relationship. He might want it in general every now and then; the idea of having a special someone is really really nice. But that doesn't mean he's going to go actively seek it out. And it also doesn't make him aromantic; maybe somewhere on the aro-spec, but not entirely aromantic if we really want to get into labels.
I also wouldn't say he's entirely asexual either. He's gotten around, and cause he's in the military, I wouldn't be surprised if he's had more male than female partners. All of his hook-ups have been casual, and he dips when people start wanting to make things more serious and expecting more out of him. Tends to just get horny sometimes, and is looking for a release if he can. But he is a man capable of thought and controlling his actions, so it's not like he's going to go all out of his way to handle it.
If we want to get more time-period accurate, then I'd say it would be a looot more men than women for partners. And it's not only because of the military thing again, but also because there aren't many women to sleep around with. The majority of the "available" women are in the brothels and whorehouses, and he is not going there. It's not a reputation concern or anything; he just thinks there's a 99% chance he's going to catch some terrible disease.
Yeah, I think that's about it. I rambled a lot cause he's my fav :P
And I also like to write fics and jot down fic ideas about him.
