Added the Dragon Timer to my Tumblr. Its set for the Underworld server.
Horrible Fractals PUG = Awesome Drops
Decided to run a Fractals lvl 10 and since most of my guildies were off doing something(just because it was the downtime during the day) I just watched /map for a group. I found one and we were ready to go. I will not say the names of the people's characters in this, its not my style to let everyone know names of people when I have a bad run with a PUG because some people could change and get better. Rather not have people look at them and say "Read about those guys on Curi's GW2 tumblr, not gonna ever party with them."
Anyhow, our group consisted of the following:
Ranger
Guardian
2x Warrior
Thief (myself)
We started off at the Dredge fractal, the Ranger(who seemed to be the only one that knew what to do other than myself) ran up and opened the first gate, the Guardian ran and opened up the middle for us, then the 2 Warriors went in and a sec after they ran in, I went in and waited for the 2 Warriors to get on the switch so I could stealth and operate the switch in the back. I got to the back easy, and I ended up having to wait about 8 seconds for them to both get on the switch. Once they finally did, I threw down Shadow Refuge and started on the back switch. Got about half way through and got attacked but started back up on it...then the Warriors decided to run around their switches which knocked me off the back switch and we ended up wiping because of that.
"Alright no problem, it happens."
Is what I thought to myself and we ran it again, this time same issue but the other guy was able to get in this time and get the mobs off me so I could do the switch. Next we had to bomb open that door. Was gonna start it like I normally do but the two Warriors decided to just keep running so we all just went up and ran to drop a bomb. Me and the Ranger dropped our bombs and ran back to lose agro while the other 3 people decided to stay and fight. Those who stayed to fight trained everything back to us and BAM, another wipe. That's when I knew it was gonna be a hell of a PUG group. After the Ranger told them "please run back and lose agro after bomb drop", we didn't have too much of an issue but those 3 again just liked to fight and almost get their selves killed.
Made it through that and just had to kill off the minecart and the champ there, which was pretty easy since the Ranger LoS'd everything and then we AoE'd the minecarted mobs down. Had no trouble with the champ then.
We finally made it to the end, and we got, the Ice boss. The Guardian wanted to do switches but he didn't say we were going to just do two of the switches instead of going between 2 switches so we all defaulty went to each spot in a clockwise fashion, and then the Guardian started yelling out "OMG circle way is stupid!! Just use two!" but he was even off on his timing with that and ended up doing another wipe. Try two we actually didn't wipe, but it took forever for the Guardian to get into the swing of things and the idiot kept attack from up top and wondered why he was getting adds attack him. After about 15 mins of dealing with that, it was over.
Next Fractal was the Ice fractal, where, of course, during the first part the 3 heavys decided to skip torches and just drop down, and in doing so, those 3 died and me and the Ranger had to ress them. Rest of it went fine til we got to the boss. It wasn't anything too bad but the 3 heavys couldn't figure out to dodge backwards when he did his ice breath so they ran around the room when he did that, getting us all sprayed with his ice breath. Got to be quite annoying and them doing that turned a 3 min fight into a 10 min fight.
Last fractal we got was the Asura fractal(Uncatagorized). Had problems with Old Tom because the Guardian, even after the Ranger clearly said "Wait here while I set up." went running in and using his staff on Tom before we were set up which gave us another wipe. We got through it the second time but it was close because it seemed like only I was watching the crystal area on the right(the Ranger was at the fan like he said he would be) so I had to run back and forth between fighting since I was asked to go close range since I have backstab.
Got to the end of that one to fight the Raving Asura's bots and during the part where we only fought them one at a time, no problem, but when all four came at us, me and the Ranger seemed to be able to focus one down(while upping the other 3 who were constantly going down) and those other 3 decided they were going to each take a different one; Result? You guessed it! WIPE!
The second time we tried him, they all did the same thing but we somehow made it after I told them to dodge into the Asura when he fires his lightning balls.
When we finally got to Solid Ocean, thought we were going to have a huge issue but surprisingly, even with us killing on the way, no one died and no one got downed(until Jade Maw). At Jade Maw, was pretty easy, a few downs and 2 of us got downed at the end but nothing big.
Overall, pain in the butt Fractal but I can't complain too much, that run got me 6 yellows(which turned into 9 ectos), 1 glacial core, 1 exotic armor, and 1 exotic ring. So like the title of this topic said "Horrible Fractals PUG = Awesome Drops".
--To top it all off, the Guardian and two Warriors blame it all on them having a Thief with them, not because of their lack of knowledge or skill when it came to Fractals.--
Floating Rocks :D
Found a funny little oddity in Sorrow's Embrace, Path 3 today. Right before you fight the dredge cart, if you look to the right in that room, you can see some rocks that are floating. They don't even have a mesh object so you can walk right through em but still thought it was cool.
Only other noteable mention is I finally got an exotic offhand dagger for my Thief. Was the Dark Asuran Dagger, which is probably one of the best dagger skins in GW2.
A Few Runs and a good WvW run!
Today was a pretty busy day for me in the land of Tyria. Some of you may think "Awh, whimp, that's nothing..." but it felt like a lot to me at least.
Started off the day by farming in Orr. Nothing says "good morning" like mowing down herds of Orrians and stealing all their Heavy Moldy Bags. Didn't get anything all that great from farming, 2 yellows, 1 ecto salvaged from them, but I ended up making a good 2g for just an hour of farming. Also took that time to get Mith and Ori ores along with some Elderwood logs so I could cap off my Weaponsmithing(since I needed that capped to get Incinerator anyhow). After I did that, I took a short breakfast break.
Once back from my meal, I finally was able to cap Weaponsmithing and start working on getting my Gift of Metal, which is probably gonna be the next part I finish for my legendary. Made up all the Ori ore I had into Ori Ingots and did the same for Mith. Started working on Dark Steel Ingots but ran out so I'll have to start up on collecting a lot of Platinum ore later on(I need about 800).
As I sold off all my stuff, checking guild chat granted me a chance for a quick CoF P1 run, which I was all over(easy Ectos and a chance at Molten Cores/Lodestones please). This run was a full guild run, with a Theif(myself), 2 Guardians(Nex and Rossi), a Warrior(Zorah AKA Raven), and an Engi(Nanas). We all took our time getting there so, of course, we had to try and do the event to unlock CoF again...which we failed at...not because we sucked, but because out of the 20-ish people standing around the door, only me and two of my guildies were actually not AFK there. Sorry, can't 3-man that group event and pass it haha.
So we all went to get at the NPC to start the quest chain to unlock CoF and by that time, all those AFK people suddenly came back to life and helped us along that AND the other event we previously failed trying to 3-man. Then it was time to get our CoF on.
Had really no issue besides one of our members having never run CoF before(shocking right?) and he didn't say anything but in our guild, we kinda have this unspoken mantra,
"If you are willing to learn, we are willing to teach."
Words to live by in my opinion. Anyways, I just told him "let us know next time, better off to say you don't know than to act like you know what your doing ^^;."
As far as drops go, again, nothing spectacular.
From there on, it was a quick level 10 Fractals run; Ended up having to add 2 pugs to the group on gw2lfg.com and within 2 mins of my guildie, Ry, posting that, we got a Warrior and Guardian to fill in for us. And they were actually really decent players. Today's Fractals run consisted of:
Cliffside
Snowblind
Swampland
and Solid Ocean(of course)
Ended up getting a yellow this time around and a few Cores which I'll probably make into lodestones later. Neko(<3) ended up with an account bound exotic and same with Ry. The other two pugs didn't really share what they got but they seemed happy with the run.
Last on the list today was SE P1, P3, and P2(a full run!). Ended up being Ry(Ele), Neko(Ele), Tore(Guardian), Zorah(Warrior), and myself(Thief). We pretty much ran these blind since I never did these ones before(but I'm going to be pretty much every day for Destroyer Cores/Lodestones) and Ry and Tore only ran SE once or twice(never P3 though).
SE P1 and P3, easy as pie, except we had this one NPC that kept screaming "No No No No!" at us(the NPC for the paths). He seemed to get bugged in P1 and that's all he said for all of P1(except the cutscenes). Once we hit P2, which we did last because we knew it was the longest path, it was still pretty easy, just very tedious...Only problem we had was with the last boss since we had to kill those two Golems within 10 seconds of each other, which we figured out after we reset it once. I split us up into two teams based on DPS that is generally output by each class. Team Alpha 1(yeah, we named them after the Golems haha) was Neko and Zorah and Team Alpha 2 was Ry, Tore, and myself. Ry had to do a bit of juggling between Alpha 1 and 2 to keep their HP about even but overall, not too hard.
After all that, we just pretty much chilled the rest of the day til it was time for the Guild WvW Event, which take place in our guild every Friday and lets just say, we kicked some major ass in one of the German server's Borderlands. Think we had a small zerg of 18 people(needed 4 parties for everyone) and we took on 20-30 people at a time and did a great job at keeping them back. They ended up having to 50+ zerg us in their tower to beat us but it we all felt like "Yeah, takes you that many to kill just 18 of us...rofl."
And that was the end of my day in Tyria.
A few days ago, I decided to share the non-linked chat codes I learned on reddit in order to get the Guild Wars 2 reddit community's help on completing the list. What is a non-linked chat code you ask? To put it simply, it works just like a chat code for an item in-game except it does not show sort of description box when you hover your mouse over it. The text that will show up will be the color of whatever chat it happens to be in(i.e. red in map, green in general, ect).
In the picture above is an example of what it looks like. Read the chat box and Spiritshocker, Dehydratedwater, and Kaliq are the ones using the chat codes(credit to tommo243 on reddit for the screenshot).
To my surprise, a little after 24 hours after posting that topic in reddit, it got upvoted to the number one spot on reddit/r/guildwars2 for a while and the list was pretty much completed(all pretty much thanks to ralmante on reddit for compiling a script to get the chat codes)!
Here's where you can see all the info yourself if your curious about it: Guild Wars 2 Non-Linked Chat Codes (reddit)
Tell us about the problem in your own words, Varanos...which I bet will include lots of "oooo" sounds.

Fractals run...and a bit of lag for an unknown reason...
Today was guild Fractals run. We were going to try to do a level 10 Fractal run to get our lower Fractal level guildies up to 10 so they can do the daily but about a half hour before we were going to run Fractals, all the EU servers started having connection and log in issues that were effecting some users more than others(as confirmed by A-net)...so we ended up doing a level 4 Fractal, which we though, "Yeah, level 4, usually takes us maybe 45 mins max to do it, so even if we get lagged by the server acting up, we'll be safe."Boy, this time we were wrong about that.
Our first Fractal was Urban Battlegrounds, aka the Charr Fractal. We had pretty much no issues here but a little bit of lag made our skills lag slightly by about a half second so we had some close calls, but no one died. I ended up getting two rares so it was all good. We tried to find all the chickens but for some reason, that last chicken was not where it should be so after looking for it for 10 mins, we said "Forget it." and just moved on.
Our next Fractal was the Cliffside Fractal, this is where the lag issue seemed to come into play. We killed the Archdiviner at the bottom of the cliff without an issue, but once we picked up the hammer and got to the first seal, the mobs attacking us and the lag that showed up ended up making us get downed quite a few times, and a few of us getting killed because the characters and their attack animations would freeze for a second or two, causing us to take a hefty amount of damage; That combined with stacks from the hammer are not a good combo. The first seal wasn't too bad, and neither was the second seal, but once we got to the hand seals, that's where the issue happened. Since we had that lag, we ended up getting downed at horrible spots and pretty much had to run back and forth between the seals way more times than needed. We were all just sitting in Raidcall going "Damnit!", "Fuckkkk!" and having a laugh about how this was going since we've all done this before with any issues. After we got those hand seals done though, the rest was just easy pickings.
Our third Fractal was the Underground Facility Fractal. We had no issue getting through it(though still quite a bit of lag) until the final boss, which was Ice Elemental this time around. Getting a second of not moving is plenty of time to have Ice Elemental go Mr. Freeze on your arse. After a bit of time, figuring out the delay lag we were having, and trail and error, we ended up getting him down. All the trail and error contributed to 2 or 3 people dying numerous times, not just getting downed, including the guy we were running with that is used to level 15 or higher Fractals.
Last was, of course, Solid Ocean but the lag subsided by then and we were able to whip right through that without an issue.
Overall, was a pain in the butt to get through it because we knew how easy it was to beat, especially on level 4, and the lag we had made it at least five times harder to beat. Hopefully by tomorrow the lag issue will be fixed and we can run Fractals normally :P
Scavenger's Chasm
Just a bit ago, me and a few guildies decided to give one of the jumping puzzles in Malchor's Leap, Scavenger's Chasm a go. It was just three of us going through this.
Now, this puzzle isn't too tricky per say, but at the end of it there are three treasure chests, each one require a number of "orbs"(called "Orrian Energy Sources") found within that jumping puzzle. The first chest requires two "orbs", the second chest requires four "orbs", and the last chest requires five "orbs", but six if you want the achievement. This totals up to twelve "orbs" we needed to find.
After a while, we found five "orbs" and started jumping around, looking for the rest. A couple falls into the water, a few nerve racking jumps, and some good laughs later, one of our little group had to go. So we were down to just two of us, climbing higher into the mysterious Scavenger's Chasm.
A few MORE falls later, my other guildie had to go as well, which just left me, along, to conquer this jumping puzzle. I said my goodbye to 'em and continued onwards and upwards. Eventually I was able to get all the "orbs" except for one bugger of an "orb" hidden underwater. There are two underwater "orbs" in this jumping puzzle, one was easy to notice and the other...well...there was a small hole to find between two pillars for that last one. Just finding that last "orb" in that spot took me forever because I was convinced it was up top somewhere.
Finally I found that last "orb" and went up to claim my prizes.
First chest: a green weapon and a crystal shard.
Second chest: two green weapons and another crystal shard.
Third chest: two green pieces of armor and...wait for it...another crystal shard.
Needless to say, that treasure turn out was a let down but still, I felt very accomplished afterwards.
