I should never ever be allowed to pack a suitcase. Seriously. Until we get the technology to shrink everything a la Disney's Sword in the Stone, I should be banned (Merlin shrinks the whole house and puts it in one bag).
The problem is I think I need everything. The other problem is I usually wear/use the vast majority of the stuff I pack. So I don't learn.
In other news, I will bringing home exactly 0 souvenirs because absolutely nothing else will fit.
I think this is going to be my favorite line from Jodi Picoult's book Sing Me Home. Published in 2011, so very prophetic about offenses that could get you disowned...

We have an actual word for what's going on with Trump and Mask
"what did students do before chatgpt?" well one time i forgot i had a history essay due at my 10am class the morning of so over the course of my 30 minute bus ride to school i awkwardly used by backpack as a desk, sped wrote the essay, and got an A on it.
six months later i re-read the essay prior to the final exam, went 'ohhhh yeah i remember this', got a question on that topic, and aced it.
point being that actually doing the work is how you learn the material and internalize it. ChatGPT can give you a short cut but it won't build you the the muscles.
I think of an art teacher I had once who said he used to be terrible at drawing hands until he bought a book with 100 pictures of hands shown from various angles and drew each hand in the book 10 times. Magically, after drawing 1,000 pictures of hands, he wasn't bad at drawing hands anymore.
The reason OP could bullshit a decent essay in a 30 minute bus ride is because OP knew how to write and craft a well-reasoned analysis thanks to a childhood full of writing and critical thinking practice.
Feel like I'm transforming into one of those reddit assholes, but this genuinely is just a "skill issue" and you really do just have to "git gud."

I don't know any German, but whatever insult that is, I am 1000% sure we deserve it. Sorry. Apparently we have to go through a fascist phase...hopefully we can reboot soon...

Wow...how the time flies when you're having fun on this odd blue site...
Definitely didn't have Pope memes on my 2025 Bingo card...
Something thatās awesome about tumblr compared to other sites is that weāre still passing around images and things that people posted on here upwards of 15 years ago like I saw this amazing photo on here earlier with only like a thousand notes and the timestamp on the post was like this time of year in 2010
Everybody is just on here sharing cool stuff that they enjoy and thereās no shelf life on posts here. I love that
Nope no shelf life...I have one post about passover from I don't know when (I checked...March 2021) that gets reblogged every single flipping year.
Dear Germans,
I am sorry my country and its supposed leaders are too stupid to recognize fascism when it appears before them. Keep doing the right thing and, hopefully, things will sort themselves out without too much trouble.
Sincerely,
An Embarrassed American (who actually paid attention to history...)
Okay, this is not a perfect comparison, but because it is the same shirt, the difference is striking.
May 2023
And today, May 2024
I am proud of my hard work (exercise regime adjusted to include more cardio and changing my diet slightly) and happier with my body. Going from your heaviest to your lightest is possible even if you are getting older and your 20s and 30s are behind you.

"This is all I brought with me during the fire drill."

"If I'm gonna die, I'm gonna die in style."
I guess I know what her priorities are...šš
Although I am not sure what the odds are of you dying during a planned fire drill. But I suppose they're not zero.
Happy Passover!
Updated for 2025
āthe arts and sciences are completely separate fields that should be pitted against each otherā the overlap of the arts and sciences make up our entire perceivable reality they r fucking on the couch
Art vs STEM is a lie created to stop us from turning on the real enemy: business and economics
Arts vs STEM is a lie, the computer that put us on the moon was a loom of woven wires, our space suits were made by hand sewing, we need chemistry to mix paint and we need biology to raise the sheep who make the wool we spin into yarn and crochet or knit or weave and the world is beautiful
Reblogging as a science enthusiast and an artist
I got yelled at by a Boomer astronaut (old white dude of course) because I gave a speech about rewriting STEM to STEAM, to include art.
He was so mad, and so wrong, that I just listened to him until he was done.
Then I said, "Well, some of the art I made inspired a scientist who stuck the landing on Mars, so."
I know you're thinking "and then everybody clapped" but it really happened. I just pulled the line from my speech, since it was on my mind.
To his credit, he tried to walk it back. He tried to say that arts and sciences are equally important but separate. While I furiously disagree with that, I let it go, because we both knew I was right.
THAT is when everybody clapped.
itās almost that time of the year :)
