Animation of the step-by-step process for creating a rectangle out of a triangle, using a compass and a straightedge
Z-tests, a type of inferential hypothesis test, compares a sample mean (with treatment) to a population mean (without treatment). The z-score tells you how many standard deviations a data point is from the mean of a data set.
Use a Z-test under these conditions
Population’s standard deviation is known
Sample size is larger than 30; n>30 (if less then use t-test)
Data should be normally distributed (some variation can be justifiable but if it’s strongly non-normal then don’t use z-test)
Data was collected randomly and are independent
It should be noted that z-tests are rarely used irl because situations where the population variance σ2 is known while the population mean is unknown hardly ever happens. That’s also likely why it isn’t explicitly on SPSS.
Steps to Z-testing
1.State statistical hypothesis
2. Find critical area
-Find the Z-Critical (which is the cut off point for the critical area)
3. Calculate test statistic
4. Make a decision and state APA conclusion
If Zo (Z-observed) is within the critical area then you can reject your null hypothesis because it’s significant. If not then you cannot reject your null hypothesis.
If significant (reject null hypothesis):
“A z-test revealed that [*IV] significantly increased/decreased [*DV] in the sample (M=__, SD=__) from the [IV] reported by the population (μ=__, σ=__), z=__, p<.05″
If not significant (don’t reject null hypothesis):
“A z-test revealed that [sample] (M=__, SD=__) are not significantly different than the general population (μ=__, σ=__), z=__, p>.05″
*IV- Independent Variable *DV- Dependent Variable

feeling a little unmotivated today 😴 i’m procrastinating by studying for linear algebra because it’s way easier than the accounting homework that i urgently need to get done

I just heard about the Notre Dame… Even though I’m not French I’m heartbroken the such a beautiful piece of history has been damaged. (you can tell that I’m a history student can’t you ;)

Describing weather with estar & hacer
Both estar and hacer are used for expressions that describe the weather. Despite the fact that both verbs can mean “it is,” the correct verb must be used with its corresponding noun/expression.
Estar está nublado it is cloudy está lloviendo it is raining está nevando it is snowing está lloviznando is drizzling está lluvioso it is rainy está húmedo it is humid está seco it is dry
Hacer hace (mucho) frió it is (very) cold hace calor it is warm hace sol it is sunny hace viento it is windy hace fresco it is cool hace (muy) bien tiempo it is (very) nice weather hace (muy) mal tiempo it is (very) bad weather

studying for differential equations today!! 💫
life update because long time no see!!!!!! I’ve not been active here lately because life’s been overwhelming so here’s a messy update:
1- I’ve been mainly focusing on my dissertation which is FINALLY FINISHED! I’ve submitted the final version for review and once I get that back I’ll have to fix some things and then upload the final version the first week of june!
2- I’ve also had a ton of projects to work on for all three classes I have this semester and I still have 2 big ones to finish and they’re due in 3 weeks…
3- I’ve been going to the dentist almost every week since the beginning of April and it sucks but at least the dentist guy is cute so
4- I saw endgame two days in a row when it came out and it destroyed me and i’m still not over it so yeah
5- also been watching game of thrones and season 8 is a freaking joke i can’t believe what they’re doing to the characters’ arcs.
6- I still don’t have a clue what I’m gonna do with my life once uni is over lol also wish my family would stop asking me no
7- I’ve reached that level of stress where I’m just kinda calm and it’s scary.
