I was thinking about the trope where one person gets possessed or mind controlled and everyone has to try and subdue them, and how usually that persons eyes change colour as a mark of how they're not themselves. So, naturally, Alec getting mind controlled by the Clave and his eyes turning blue. Bonus points if he tries manipulating Magnus when he finally is restrained by pretending to be scared and in pain - it doesn't work bc of his eyes but it is still nightmare fuel for Magnus obviously.

second of all im a fucking whore for this trope actually. i mean usually my fave is "person is controlled and has to watch themself hurt the ones they love and is just screaming desperately, wanting to die" (which I'll always be salty that they used with jace of all ppl) but hmmm this idea is so good too. like of course Magnus would NEVER want to hurt Alec, but he also wouldn’t want to put the world at risk and the whole thing’s just daiouhsiuadha like he’s so torn and aaa
and in the end he ends up binding alec with magic kinda like he did asmodeus, while they try to think of a way to stop the mind control or whatever (kinda imagining magnus just takes him to the loft and puts him in a magical cage or something lmao anyway) (if anyone comes to be horny over this ill sue) and the whole time they’re trying to find a way to figure out how to undo the spell alec is just. there. and hggghhh the pain possibilities
im gonna put the rest under the cut and warn for manipulation, emotional abuse, mentions of hunger/thirst and the usual drama of these kinds of plotlines
first of all yes he’s acting like he’s all scared and in pain and trying to manipulate magnus and magnus can barely stand it - because this is already his worst nightmare, hurting the people he loves, being forced to hurt the people he loves, seeing fear in their eyes when they look at him, thinking of asmodeus, of the things he made him do, of the guilt, thinking that he brings doom to everyone he loves and adsiuhaiudhaihds. but magnus doesn’t yield because he keeps telling himself that this is also how he’s going to keep alexander safe. so he starts laying it in more thick, telling magnus that he’s always known it would come to this, that magnus is just like his father, that poor him, always hurting the people he loves, huh? when will he figure out that he has no choice, that he’ll always end up like this, mercilessly destroying lives, because it’s in his blood-
and magnus keeps a straight face and his chin high but inside he’s absolutely fucking breaking and he has nightmares where it truly is alec and magnus is hurting him and dashdaiuhsdauh
and every time this starts raphael (because of course the whole squad is there to help them figure out how to free alec and give magnus emotional support) just puts his hand on his shoulder all like “come on, magnus, i need to talk to you” but really he just wants to pull magnus away from the disgusting things “alec” is saying, and so he just brings him into a room and is like. “put up your wards and cry. it’s okay” and magnus kind of trembles like “i can’t break down right now” “then don’t, just vent for a while. i’m here” and magnus bites his lip and puts up the wards so no one can hear him and tells raphael that there’s always that voice in his head telling him that whoever is controlling alec is right, and he doesn’t know how to do this
and raphael listens to him and hugs him and holds his hand :) and magnus doesn’t break down because again, he can’t, can’t fall apart, but at least he’s allowing himself to feel a little bit and be taken care of, and you know. baby steps
also picturing that like controlled!alec refuses to eat or drink anything and magnus is terrified that he’s going to die if this stretches on too long, and he’s all noncomitally like “this spell is pretty powerful, you know? i can keep him going even after his body dies, can walk if his limbs break, can force him to go forward through anything. he can feel all the pain, too. he’s thirsty right now.” and magnus almost breaks
(he knows how it feels, thirst and hunger, and being manipulated and used, he knows how much it hurts, and he can’t help thinking that he brought this on alec somehow-)
and he throws himself 300x harder into trying to figure out how to undo this soon, and cat and raphael have to make him eat and drink water and sleep because he’s so focused, and magnus kind of doesn’t want to hear it, and “alec” is all smug like “you don’t want to have it if he can’t either, do you? how cute, you’re both going to wither and die together” and cat loses it and punches him, and he laughs
doashdiuahdisua anyway they solve it eventually and alec kind of blinks and his eyes are hazel again and he’s just like “magnus. magnus, i’m so sorry” (and that’s how magnus knows it him, because of course alec apologizes for being mind controlled) and he hugs magnus and magnus kind of breaks down in his arms, finally, and alec is like “i’m sorry, i’m sorry, i wasn’t hurting, you did the right thing, it’s okay” and then they get a big bear hug with the whole squad (because everyone wants to feel alec too, make sure he’s real, izzy and madzie and even simon)
and they all kind of sleep together bundled up because no one wants to leave the two of them alone after what happened, so they’re in a big cuddle pile :) and magnus gets to cuddle with alec and rapha at the same time for once, and it’s soft. and they’re all alright and daiouhdisudha aaaaaaa i love this
God fuck ff for denying us flamboyant Magnus after s1. Harry was up for it! And sure all of Magnus' outfits are amazing and iconic, but s1 hits different. 😔
yeah i miss the fun flamboyant outfits :( and what makes me the saddest is that it clearly was a sign of how badly he was feeling, how tormented he was
like, the worse things got, the more masculine and edgy Magnus started to dress. his hair went from soft and styled to spiked, he started wearing military-inspired outfits way too often, he started wearing more somber colors, etc. I think he was putting on his armor of powerful and dangerous as a way to feel more protected as the times became more turbulent and violent
a lot of people say that magnus' flamboyant outfits are a sign that he wasn't well or that theyre his armor or whatever because of 2×18, but i think every one of Magnus' outfits is an armor when he isn't well, just of different kinds. we know that Magnus pays a lot of attention to how he's perceived, and that he also uses that to protect himself because he's too fucking kind for this fucked up world. for s2 and s3, he wore more masculine clothing as a way to look and feel more battle-ready, even if subconsciously. even if he was actually only expressing that he felt that he was constantly battling. in 2×18, however, what he was trying to do was look like he wasn't struggling. it was armor, yes, but of another kind. his edgy military looks serve the exact same purpose and are just as indicative that he isnt well (lets not forget that the first time we saw him in a military-inspired, somber colored outfit was the day of Alec and Lydia's wedding) but ppl overlook that because they're cisnormative they only focus on 2×18
so yeah it makes me insanely sad like i guess it makes sense but i wish his life wasnt such a shitstorm and we had gotten to see a happier, better-feeling Magnus
In that sense his final look took my breath away, the best of them no doubt, he looked so beautiful and it was so fun and light. his face was countoured to look softer rather than sharper, he went for a bit on nontraditional drawing, vibrant colors (in 2×18 he was more colorful than usual but they were still kind of dull, like he was trying but it didn't quite deliver), he just looked so fun and in his element, he was being creative (which we know is important to him), he was just enjoying himself. to me it was peak because not only did he look beautiful, he also looked well and happy and hsbsjsbsjshsi im sorry i completely strayed from the topic but i just have so many feelings about Magnus and clothing and how they show his state of mind okay
consider magnus bane teaching trans warlocks glamours so they could feel more at ease. consider him glamouring other trans downworlders and shadowhunters. consider him teaching lgbt+ downworlders subtle ways to signal safety to each other. consider him offering to mediate coming out, offering comfort, offering support. consider him doing everything in his power to keep his community, particularly the kids safe and giving so much to make sure their lives are easier

What do u think is the fondest memory Magnus has in his whole life?
Ooooh okay this is an interesting one. I feel like Magnus has a lot of treasured memories especially of his friends and I don’t feel like they’re big dramatic things either. When you’re a warlock who has all the time and resources to see everything in the world i feel like that all becomes somewhat secondary to him and what’s really important are more simple things like spending time with the people he loves. So some of his most treasured memories are probably just simple things like drinking and laughing with Cat and Ragnor or maybe when Raphael finally started to open up to him/expressed affection to him for the first time. ALSO I bet the wedding (his wedding not the one he crashed lol) is one of his most treasured memories...like walking down the aisle and seeing Alec!!! And I’m sure during that moment Magnus just felt so happy because after all those years this was it! This was the love of his fucking life and now they’re gonna be married!!! God!!!! I’m still not over the wedding if u can’t tell
