Tekina didn't like that so much, but fate had other plans for her.
The priestess walked through the halls, occasionally getting looks and whispers casted towards her by the servants. Of course she'd get attention-she barely came here by her own will.
'Visit me during before the year is over, alright? Otherwise...'
Tekina shook it off as one servant came over to her. "Milady, are you sure about this?" The girl looked over at the woman. "I'll be alright...but if things get rough, tell Sensei, alright?" "Got it...be careful, Lady Tekina."
Tekina watched the servant walk away before looking at the door in front of her. Here goes nothing...
Someone opened the door-a woman with long light blonde hair, pale skin, and dim brown eyes. She wore a simple black robe tied closed with a green sash.
The woman slightly smiled. "Tekina...you really did come." Tekina shakily nodded. "I said I would, didn't I, Maebure?" Maebure nodded. "Of course. You simply COULDN'T refuse me. After all...it would be rude."
Tekina felt a chill. When did I ever think this was a good idea?
The two females walked into the room. It was fairly empty, minus the small shrine in the back. On it were figures of the four guardians, as well as a small box. Tekina quickly glanced at it. What is in there...?
The priestess looked back at Maebure, who had opened the window a bit. "What is it like outside? Out where I can't be?" Tekina knew that voice-a voice that sounded sweet, but was laced with venom.
She knew it all too well.
"It's beautiful. You can see a lot from the mountain..."
"I know that. I'm talking about the areas outside of the places that the Guardians watch over." Tekina looked over.
"Same. It's wonderful...and the castle is enormous. It's...amazing."
Maebure sighed. "Amazing, huh...amazing because I'M away from you? Because that's the one place where I have no hold over you, right?"
Tekina stepped back. "No, that's-"
Maebure walked closer. "I know that's why you go there. To escape. But you can't escape from that BOND we hold."
Maebure held a shattered jar in her hand-the broken part had crashed against Tekina's face, causing it to bleed.
"I only know what happens in the areas the guardians are. I have no control over the rest of Cephiro. And you LIKE that, don't you!? You LIKE that you can escape!"
Tekina said nothing, but her feelings were represented by the look of sheer terror that was on her face.
Maebure held her against the wall. "But you can't escape forever. You always come back to Dralutari's side, and by doing that, you come to my side as well! You can't hide forever, missy! AND YOU KNOW IT!!!"
Some servants suddenly ran in, as well as a man. He had messy brown hair, sand colored skin, and blue eyes. He wore a white suit that would fit a martial artist, with brown hakama over the legs.
The servants held back Maebure, while the man helped the frightened and shaking Tekina stand up. As the man led her out, Maebure screamed, "RUN ALL YOU CAN, DRAGON PRIESTESS! YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO SOON ENOUGH!!!"
The servants in the halls made room for Tekina and the man to walk. Eventually, they had gotten to the infirmary in the main house.
While Tekina was being healed, a young boy came up to the man, who was waiting outside. The boy had neat orange hair, slightly dark skin, and brown eyes. He wore a simple green shirt and brown pants, with bare feet.
"Mister Niht? Is something wrong?"
Niht glanced at the boy. "Everything is fine, Muzai...just a small incident." Muzai frowned. "Was Maebure being mean again?" Niht frowned. "She was, but it'll be alright...Tekina only has a small wound on her face, so she'll be fine."
I'd like to believe that, though...
"Niht? Tekina wants to see you."
Niht smiled once at Muzai before going into the infirmary. Tekina was sitting on a bed, a small strip of cloth on the left side of her face. She was hugging her legs and staring off into space.
When Niht walked over, Tekina looked up. "Sensei..." Niht sat on the side of the bed. "How are you feeling?" "...fine..." Niht knew that she was NOT fine, and she knew he did. The man gently put his hand on her shoulder. "It's alright...everything will be alright..."
Tekina shook. "I...I know..." She couldn't stop a few tears from escaping her eyes. "I-I...I kn..."
Niht frowned before wrapping his other arm around Tekina. The priestess cried as he held her. He didn't say anything.
He knew that, right now, all she needed was comfort.
