What an exceptional article about this family run business. I don't think people realize what a true treasure (and piece of living history) it is to have a business like M&S Schmalberg( Custom Fabric Flowers By M & S Schmalberg)still making flowers in the garment district. To see anything like this you would need to go to Paris. The French understand that it is worth preserving art forms such as the couture industry and have put protections into place. Americans are constantly being accused in the world of having no culture; we do have culture, a very rich if possibly "young" culture (and this is a perfect example) but we make the mistake of not valuing it. Too many people will tell you: Oh I can get something like this cheaper...Cheap isn't everything; you cannot get this quality and artistry for their reasonable prices.
