I had a few days off this week, so I tore down our old fire pit and built a new one with the nicer stones we had lying around (old pit was made with regular red bricks). Layla came over to inspect it for me.

The girls went off to a new home yesterday. I’m sad, the hubby is really sad about our one hen Tuffy, they had a really cute relationship. But they’re off to a bigger flock for new adventures and I’m happy for them.
The roosters are getting made into meat at the end of the month.

This is Luna. The pretty boy of the flock that acts like a hen and doesn’t crow but is a rooster. He is a sweetie and is a great mom to our Cochin babies. So I am thinking I have a transsexual and or gay rooster. Which is perfect cause he is a mom with out being bitchy for an hour while laying an egg so he’s perfect!!!!
One of my hens attempted to crow this morning.
I didn’t realize it at the time. No, my immediate assumption was that something was brutally murdering one of my birds. I rushed to the rescue only to find the yard conspicuously empty of threats, but I didn’t relax until that awful rasping caw came again from my right.
Here she is compared to another black bantam I got at the same time as her. Her comb and wattles are huge, but I just kinda disregarded it because those two aren’t the same breed even though they’re similar looking. Shouldn’t have, that comb is almost rooster-sized regardless of breed differences.
Just wanted to share, I figured Tumblr would get a kick out of a non-binary chicken.

This is Bean, the 5-month-old barred rock rooster. He is very beautiful and friendly, lives in Connecticut, and is looking for a new home. He was a surprise (thought he was going to be a hen) and unfortunately his family can’t keep him because he needs to be in a flock with at least 8 hens and the neighbors are bothered by his crowing.
Please, if you or anyone you know lives in the Connecticut area who can house Bean (to live out his natural life, NOT to be killed for food), or if you know of any rehoming resources or places in the area I should look into, message me.
If not, please help me out by reblogging to signal boost this post so I can find him a safe home. Thanks!!
