Meet Maureen McRoan, daughter of a selkie

A very talented but extremely shy singer, she long languished in the shadow of her overly assertive best friend, Corinne. Although stubborn in pursuing her dream of performing on stage, Corinne is quite untalented.

They once had a fight because Maureen wanted to participate in a talent show where her friend was also going to perform (Corinne believed Maureen was trying to steal her victory). They later reconciled but didn't cancel their participation. Maureen won first place, and Corinne won the audience award — in the end, everyone was happy.

My idea was that she should never, under any circumstances, take off her sealskin for long, otherwise she could become seriously ill. Luckily, this sealskin can easily be transformed into clothing.

I think it's a huge oversight that, throughout the franchise's existence, we've never seen a selkie in the MH setting. Well, I'll make one myself 💅

P.S. I'm especially proud of her name. Maureen/Murin means "pearl of the sea/born of the sea."

Meet Mary Ann Worthington, Bloody Mary's daughter. I had an idea for a special where my Monster High OCs visited Londoom to attend a charity event to celebrate the conversion of an old mansion into a museum. The event was being curated by Monster High's sister school, Gloom Academy, so they invited several worthy representatives of Monster High.

The owners of the mansion, a married couple of liches, were unaware that a cursed mirror lurked deep within their home, capable of summoning Bloody Mary… or any of her daughters, as in Mary Ann's case.

Personality-wise, Mary Ann is aloof and solitary, she's a people-pleaser, as those who cast spells on the mirror often vanished without a trace after using her powers. Therefore, she tries to be as pleasant as possible to those who summoned her… and falls into terrible grief and rage if they abandon her.

When creating her costume, I was inspired by Edwardian fashion - it's very elegant and seems underrated to me compared to Victorian fashion. I also tried to make her costume more visceral, imagining what vampire outfits might look like in their universe if artists were allowed to use blood, veins, and other such motifs more openly. Her leitmotif is also sharp weapons, knives, and so on - anything that can draw blood.

Meet Jem Voiceteen, a ghost. She's an unusual kind of ghost – normals can't see her, only hear through electronics. Her connection to sound waves makes her highly sensitive to radiation, waves, and vibrations. This makes her highly empathetic; she can sense when someone is down without even looking. This has a downside: she's extremely sensitive to the weather, which is why she loves drinking coffee – to soothe the ringing, aching, and heaviness in her head caused by the slightest change in the weather.

She's the host of the school radio, and thanks to her, this rather old pastime stays afloat. She has excellent musical taste, and her audience adores her for advice segments and interactive features, while Jem herself gets a chance to be heard.

Personally, Jem is a bit of a bimbo. She professes a love of life, even though she's undead—that's the reason why she, unlike other ghosts, refuses to wear dark colors. She's incredibly self-confident, striving to convey this quality to others. She's a bit of an esotericist, trying to better understand her own nature.

When drawing her outfit, I was inspired by the 1950s aesthetics, but I think her style lies more in the overall airiness of her costumes than in following a specific era. Meet Thorn Peyote, son of a monster cactus.

It's hard to live with a spikes inside and out. That's exactly what he is. He has an incredibly bad temper, a fiery, bully-like personality, and is either feared or hated by the entire school. The reason for his terrible behavior is that his dad, Sharp, was sent to prison for a crime in which he was an unwitting accomplice. So Thorn is stuck in a foreign country (I assumed he was born in Hexico), living with his unbearable grandpa, with whom they argue daily and sometimes even hit each other. So, when he comes to school, he's looking for ways to vent his rage and frustration.

When creating his style, I was inspired by punk culture. Personally, I really like the little terrariums with succulents and cacti in his shoes.

P.S. I was recently rewatching Undertale Let's Plays and laughingly thought of Thorn when Papyrus called the player an "emotional cactus." It's doubly funny considering I had Papyrus' son from my crossover dating Thorn later. Thorn, unwittingly, brought out the worst in him, pushing him into lawlessness in his company. He broke up with him before leaving for Hexico, realizing things couldn't go on like this.

Meet Graham Earhart! He's the son of gremlins. The freaky flaw of this type of monsters in the MH universe is that they break any technology they try to interact with. It's unclear whether this is some kind of curse or self-delusion, considering that the younger the gremlin, the more comfortable they are with technology — Graham and his younger brother, Graggy, can actually use smartphones and computers, but their grandmother, it seems, can break even a vintage cash register.

Graham has found ways to cope with his peculiarity—he's an excellent techie and knows how to fix technology. Thanks to this, he earns a part-time job at his aunt Grace's store. He's also interested in programming and has the makings of an excellent future tester of programs and games, as he finds bugs and vulnerabilities in them without even trying.

Personally, Graham is very outgoing and sociable, and is a good friend of the Calaveras family, particularly Tekton (who that is, you'll find out soon enough ;)). He has only one serious flaw: he's extremely jealous and insecure due to the fact that his family neglects him in favor of his younger brother.

I drew inspiration from military style when creating his outfit.

Meet Yukiko Onago, the daughter of Yuki-onna and an exchange student from Jawpan, the monster equivalent of Japan. She's a highly toxic partner, draining the life force from those she dates, cutting them off from friends and family. However, Yukiko never kills – she simply breaks up when she tires of them, leaving them depressed, and often unable to fully regain former energy and cheerfulness. She's very cold and rather arrogant; a sure sign that she's feeding on someone is when she suddenly becomes a genki girl bursting with energy (while her partner is blue all the time).

She's one of my first Monster High OCs, and when I drew her, I didn't expect it to be a full-fledged piece of art – I was simply sketching out a character design for my story, so the lines are a bit sloppy. However, she's so well-designed and colorful that I'd consider Yukiko one of my favorite OCs. When drawing the outfit, I was inspired by Japanese street fashion (at least the slightly gothic kind of it).
