﹒When a kind-hearted girl transfers to Night Raven College, the entire school takes notice. With admirers flocking in from every dorm. It seems she's quickly becoming the new "heart" of NRC. But while most are captivated by her charm, Malleus Draconia, the mysterious heir of Briar Valley, remains as a distant figure. Isolated by power, and misunderstood by many. Unlike the rest, she sees past his horns and his "cold" exterior. What begins as a gentle friendship becomes something much deeper. As she takes it upon herself to help Malleus get friends and remove his bad reputation from the world. Slowly, her kindness draws him into the tale of friendship- and perhaps, even love. As the two grow closer, Malleus begins an experience he never had. That filled with laughter and connection. But not everyone is pleased with the growing bond between the two.

It was that time in the season where the roses in Heartslabyul were vibrant and casting their color across the garden. And how the trees at Night Raven College, all looked healthy and grown. But they even paled in comparison when you first arrived. The new transfer student who had, quite literally, enchancted the entire school.
Thanks to being the only girl. Sometimes you'd just wish that the mirror would take you back and save you from the constant attention you would get. People said you looked like a vision, how you looked like you weren't real.
And yet from the moment you walked through the gates of NRC, rumors started gathering around like butterflies. "She's from a foreign royal family." "No, she's a siren in disguise like the sea witch!" "Have you seen how Vil stares at her? She must be the real deal."
You genuinely didn't want to cause a stir. You were just... you. Kind, polite, and smart... and devastatingly beautiful (people said).
Just within days, you'd unintentionally collected a whole sea of admirers like treasure. Ace and Deuce fought over who would be the one to carry your textbooks. Idia would stammer for hours after even accidentally making the slighteset eye contact with you. And yet, even the non-chalant Leona seemed to be more alert when you were around.
But the one who caught your attention, was someone different. Someone always standing just outside of the social circle at NRC, Malleus Draconia.
You first saw him under the dead tree outside of Ramshackle. It was a gloomy evening and the sky was full of dark storm clouds. While other students who have been following you to your dorm (you told them to go away countless times.) You froze in your tracks and your breath was caught as you lingered your eyes on him.
That's when he appeared- the tall, 'scary', fae with curved black horns looked like he was glowing from the rain. He was breathtaking, and was standing by the tree in a cool yet calm way. He looked untouchable.
The Prince of The Briar Valley had no one with him. That's what you first noticed. You walked up the the tree, extending your arm as you tilted your umbrella towards. And he looked at you, puzzled. Then- surprisingly- he smiled.
"Most would run when I appear," he said, his voice sounded smooth and deep. "You're not afraid of me?"
You blinked, then gave him one of your 'famous' radiant smile. "You seemed lonely."
That was the moment where it all began. The moment you unknowingly became the first person to be courageous to ever step towards the 'cold', 'conniving', 'scary', Malleus Draconia.
The more you spoke to Malleus, the more fascinated you've become. He was intelligent, it almost seemed poetic. He would always tell you ancient tales and forgotten magics he've seen. But when it came to other people, he was... distant.
Not by choice, but by habit.
"They avoid me," he admitted to you once, as you walked with him across the courtyard that was covered with moonlight. "I am not unkind. But to them, I am apparently 'a storm they fear will strike if they get too close'."
You stopped in your tracks.
"That's not fair," you said, a little upset. "You're kind, wise, and honestly you're probably the most interesting in this school... how come people don't like you?"
Malleus returned his eyes from you- and glanced down. And for a moment, he looked... shy. You touched his arm gently. "Let me help you, Malleus. I'll show them you're not someone to fear. You're someone worth knowing!"
His emerald eyes flicked up at you, startled. "You... would do that? For me?"
"Of course," you said, with a giant smile that looked like the sunrise. "Everyone deserves friends. Especially you."
It started small.
You brought Malleus to group study sessions. At first, the others tensed like rabbits near a him. Like he was a wolf. But you worked hard and got rid of the tension by cracking jokes, and asking Malleus questions you knew he could answer. Intentionally showcasing his knowledge around others. Hoping it would shine.
Azul Ashengrotto was the first one to notice this. "Your insights into magical theory are impressive, Lord Draconia." He said with a theoretical smile.
Jade Leech nodded in response. A slight smile placing on his face as he spoke. "I believe we could learn much from you."
Malleus, the one who had never felt the warmth of a friend before... paused. All of the centuries of loneliness seemed to be all worth it at this very moment. Malleus blinked, caught off guard. "You wish to... learn from me?"
You smiled from across the table, watching him finally be able to socialize freely. Watching warmth bloom under his words. But some people were easier to get along with him then others. A bridge that would be hard to cross for him, what next came was the unlikelier ones.
You had convinced Leona to spar with Malleus during PE. Hoping that it could clear some misunderstanding between the two. After all, to everyone they seemed like rivals.
"I know you like a challenge!" You whispered to the Savanaclaw "prince", who was laying on the grass at that time. This interaction caused them to both go face-to-face with each other.
Exactly as you thought, the duel between the two was very explosive. It shocked you a little seeing how fast they were moving- and spiked a little bit of worry for you, wondering if you'd have to pay for the scenery outside being tarnished.
Afterward, Leona grunted as he sat down on the grass near the nearby water cooler as he tossed Malleus a water bottle. Your jaw almost flew off your face because of how well this was working in Malleus' favor.
"You're not as stiff as I thought, Lizard," Leona said gruffly, trying to appear as intimidating as possible. When a slight smirk appeared on his face.
"And you're stronger than rumors say," Malleus replied with a smirk on his face and his eyes narrowed slightly.
This was the beginning of something special- almost a respect between two proud rulers of different dorms. Even Vil, as much as the perfectionist he is, commented after a Drama Club rehearsal (that you dragged Malleus into, despite his protests).
"He has pressence," Vil said, his arms crossed. "Rough, but somewhat regal."
Malleus turned to you later that night, as he looked at you with warmth and wonder in his eyes. "They're speaking to me, Y/N. Me. Not because they fear me... but because they see me as a regular." His voice filled with thankfulness, so much that it almost brought to you tears. You were so proud.
You touched his hand, smiling. "I told you so."
After the day was finished, the two of you found yourselves in the courtyard again, beneath the night sky.
"You've changed everything," Malleus said, his voice quieter than usual. "I once believed I needed no one. That solitude was strength. But now, I..."
You turned your face towards him, smiling. You couldn't help but realize your heart beating a little more than usual around him. "You don't have to say anything."
But he did. "You've shown me what it means to bee truly seen. Truly known. And if I am permitted... I wish to remain by your side. Not just as your friend."
Your heart stilled, as your smile slowly morphed into quiet shock. Malleus lifted his hand, placing it on your cheek with warmness that surprised you.
"May I stay with you, Y/N?" he whispered. "As more than... the lonely prince that you helped?"
From that day forward, Malleus walked the halls no longer alone. He was finally laughing with fellow dorm leaders, participated in group activities without worry, and even had a few more people join the Gargoyle Studies Club.
But most of all, he was able to walk right beside you- the girl who had offered him an umbrella, and got rid of his lonely world. And instead gave him love, friendship, and hope.
And whenever Malleus would walk alone, people whispered. Not out of fear. But of admiration. And a little envy.
After all, what could be more legendary than people seeing a dragon spread it's wings for the first time?
