8pm EST/PST. Get ready for the made up funny you know & love.
So, does this mean you're never going to attend another taping again? Sorry, you had a horrible experience. I'll miss all the tips and snip-its of upcoming episodes you provided. - Brandon
I don't know if I'm allowed, it seemed very deliberate yesterday. I've already had Wayne and Linda tweet me back in support. But I'm afraid for tomorrow. I don't even have my turn away ticket, I went to my work very upset and ranting to my coworkers and left it there. So I probably won't get in on my normal ticket anyway.
So I've been watching the new season, and I am disappointed they didn't allow the Improv-a-Ganza to be a model, and allow for some more quirky pairings (freeze tag would have been AMAZING). Why do you think they're leaving out more classic improv games like that, and using this stupid 'let's lay on the floor' game, or moving people (which, let's be honest, is just making Ryan & Colin look like old pervs)?
I honestly have no idea. Last year they played the same games EVERY taping and still managed to only air the same games leaving a LOT out which was surprising...they could have shown more variety. This time they had more variety per tapings.
I went to first taping of the season and didn't see that problem. They made us cheer and look happy, but that's very normal for live audiences. I'm confused about what you felt.
Yeah they said that to us. But the "instructions" I mentioned were given for the special groups that were brought in to fill the audiences with the right look.
But it's kind of funny but also really nice to know that people who aren't able to attend the tapings can see what they're doing, because I'm so in the middle of it I wonder how much is actually coming across to everyone else.
9/10. Technically didn't get in tonight. Here's why.
tldr; don't even bother trying on Monday if you have tickets. Or next season. Seriously.
I've kept a lot of the bullshit off this tumblr for good reason. But here we go.
I heard last week a couple of people saying that this tumblr said to get there at 3 last week. Which, to be fair, would have been fine had production not been doing what they started doing. Which is why I tried to give people more of a fighting chance by saying 1:30.
You see, the last taping in January my friends and I were put on standby. We were first in line. Production, crew, cast, etc had a bunch of house guests (okay, that's fair, I'm game with that) but they also had a bunch of college kids put on the list as well. They wanted a certain look for their audience as the CW skews younger, and female, and of more varying ethnicities. And that time about 50 fans got in. The studio seats about 250.
Last weekend on Friday there were no problems. Phew, okay, so January was a fluke, right?
On Saturday, we were put on standby again. Some of us got in. Not sure how many, but less than January. But clearly my group and I got in.
On Sunday, 15 seats were specifically set aside for actual fans.
Today, they stuffed the entire audience. My friends and I were front of the line and were put into this side room with a TV where we could watch it. I just left.
One of the days, we overheard some of the college kids reminding each other what they "were told" when they were in the studio.
They were told specifically to cheer and clap and be as loud as possible. This is probably because in January, the groups then were so confused as to what was actually happening and it was clear most were not fans and therefore were not familiar with what was happening. It was visibly making Greg upset.
I can't imagine they will learn from this, or anything at all. If you look at the offical facebook or scroll through any tag on twitter or tumblr you will see how many fans are complaining about the special guests or lack of audience participation like we saw in both Drew's Line and Brit Line. For now the show has become less about the fans and more about the audience having the right look.
I have been to several TV tapings before, as have some of my friends; one I went with last weekend in fact used to do audience coordination and was able to tell us about specific code words that we were getting in the runaround which helped us piece together some of the holes we had. We are not blind, we are not stupid. If you had no idea how things operate, you might be easily fooled by what they are pulling and how they are phrasing it. This has nothing to do with the ticket company, they are only doing what they are told.
With all this in mind, more power to you if you are brave enough to show up Monday. Or try to get tickets for next year. But just know your chance is going to get smaller and smaller, as there is a quota they have and it seems like they haven't reached their desired amount yet whatever that number may be since it's only getting worse each time. My friends were there at 6am and first in line only to be shoved aside to a room with a TV. I don't want to lie to you all and I don't want to scare you and I don't want to give you false hope. Because even though Aisha sent someone into the audience to find me specifically last weekend to make sure I got in, that somehow still wasn't enough to get in today. So I am done.
Hey! I was there at the Jonathan Magnum taping! Was the girl with the socks and chopsticks in her purse for What's In the Bag. Anyways, just wanted to say that it's cool that you have this blog. :D
Ah yay! Weirdo. Thank you :)
I was the one falling asleep in the second row. (Not kidding, had work at 5am that day)
4th seater: Gary Anthony Williams
special guests: Mel B. & Matt Barnes
The best Duet came tonight to Matt Barnes. But they can't and won't air it because they are worried about Joe Jackson suing the show.
Ryan got stuck on his prop so he asked the audience.
When production was going through checking the bags for What's In The Bag I heard one of them say about one "she clearly stuffed this one" and they took it anyway saying "the salt made the bag". So pro tip if you want your bag used: they stopped caring about stuffing. In January I heard them complain about it being stuffed and returned it.
Wayne, during pickups: "Does Wayne Brady have to choke a Brit?" Poor Dan. But after 3 days of pickups I agree.
4th seater: Jeff Davis
special guests: Sheryl Underwood, Robbie Amell
Jeff hurt himself too tonight! Hurt his side when he was rolling on the floor. Definitely not a good time to be a 4th this round.
Some people in the audience were so desperate to get noticed by the cast they kept yelling out suggestions that didn't work or make sense or just random shit whenever they could. Which is a huge no no, so anyone coming please don't. It really screws up with production. Requires more pickups and more laborious editing. The crew actually came to have a talk with me and my group because we were sitting nearby and they thought it was us. BE RESPECTFUL GUYS!
Other than that it was a very high energy and fun taping. Even both guests were having fun playing with the guys.
Since it will probably get out anyway, a Hoedown was done again. But who knows if they will air it. They also had the guys in a different order than usual. Which was weird. No I won't tell you. (questions about this will be deleted, sorry)
I submitted a sentence for 2 Line (or Whose Line, not sure it they were bringing it back or it was a typo) and it was the only thing I have ever submitted and they didn't even play the game....!!!
Ryan usually does this joke during pickups to get the audience to laugh. First time he didn't tell it. And instead he made fun of Dan having sex by essentially mocking the way he kept instructing us to clap for certain things. Apparently Dan got sassy back to Ryan at one point (Ryan abuses him nonstop throughout pickups), but I couldn't hear. But Aisha loved whatever it was he said.
4th seater: Jonathan Mangum
special guests: Wendi McLendon-Covey & Rob Gronkowski
(sorry I didn’t post this last night I was unbelievably tired)
As a (half) joke I tweet Jonathan in the morning before saying it was going to be the best taping. At the show, Aisha said something along those lines. Nailed it.
Was told that they film SFAH for 30 minutes and it was shorter than usual. First time they went through the entire hat as well.
They got us out of there later than normal as well. Really hope that trend doesn’t continue.
Jonathan fell, and the thing the crew cared about was his mic. He was fine, but he made a joke that I don’t think anyone actually heard. (To Aisha: “I’m fine, Drew.”) Ryan said in response to the whole ordeal “it’s not like breaking a light with your head”
