Honestly if someone told me a year ago that Jon would not only get his powers but also inherit the mantle alongside Jordan by the end of the series, I'd have laughed in their face

The definitely let him out for the finale because it felt more Lana-centric and anti-Jon than the rest of the season.

It 100% did which is definitely how you know he wrote it because the vibe was so weirdly different from most of season 4 so I think his hands were tied during the rest. But they must have filmed the suiting up and flying scenes when his back was turned or he was too busy with the 'Lana's the best' scene to care

Jon getting shot point blank by Luthor just to get him out of the scene was low-key disrespectful. I'm not saying he should have beat him but I getting swatted away like a fly feels very intentional.

Rewatching some s2 episodes make me wish the show paralleled Jon and Jordan with Lucy and Lois a lot more. In episode 5 Jon gets upset with Jordan questioning him and tells him "quit acting like you know everything!" then in episode 6 Lucy tells Lois "Can you go two seconds without acting like you're better than everyone!", which feels very similar to me. Ally going after Jon and trying to turn him against his family, mainly Lois, would have been a really good storyline (or Jon would go to her, on purpose or by accident). She would get in Jon's head and intensify his "I'm broken" thoughts (maybe through Jon-El) until he agrees he wants what's wrong with him to be fixed.

Jon is the Lucy parallel who gets targeted and used by Ally while Jordan is the Lois parallel who eventually finds out what's going on with Jon and tries to get him out of Ally's grasp.

But this would require Helbing to want to write Jon into the main plot instead of just throwing him to the side so we can't have a good story like this which delves into Jon's feelings...

The fact that we didn't get a scene of Jon-El trying to convince Jon into merging by playing on his insecurities and doubts is one of the biggest wasted opportunities on this show.

What if Jon-El escaped from the DoD and started posing as Jon to destroy his reputation? After they went public, they're under a lot more scrutiny from the public and Jon-El uses the opportunity to take revenge.

Like when did the last embers of Clark's powers fade and Jon and Jordan had to formally assume the mantle?

When did the twins get married?

How many years did Clark have to live without Lois?

Did Clark also outlive Krypto or is did one of the twins adopt him after Clark passed?

As we head into the series finale, I want to take a moment to appreciate a show that despite it's many ups and downs, brought the Super-family to life in such a unique and beautiful way that we'd never seen before on-screen.

I will miss seeing Lois and Clark struggle with the trials and tribulations of parenthood and the Super twins growing up together. Here's to all the adventures they've had and all the ones that are yet to come that we may never see.
