She then chuckled at the girl’s other statement. “You could be lazy and still participate, I’m just going the extra mile and putting in a little bit of work. The first time I did it I hadn’t planned prior and though I was sore as hell afterwards, it was still fun.”

Claudia listened intently, nodding her head at appropriate moments. “I’ll think about it, then. I think it could potentially be a lot of fun, but I’ll have to sleep on it.” She liked the idea a lot, yet had no idea if participating was something she wanted to do. “Is that why you’re doing it this year? Because you had fun last year?”

She nodded, looking back at the speeding car one more time before turning to her, blowing out a breath. “A six or a seven if you have it,” Bianca answered as she now looked down at her soaking wet clothes. There was no way in hell she was going to the meeting like this-no way in fuckin’ hell. “Thanks and I’ll return them the next day.”

She rummaged through her bag, pulling out a white blouse and some black slacks. She kneeled after picking them up and checked the tags. “The shirt’s a medium and the pants are a seven,” she informed the other, before standing. “And you don’t have to return them. I was going to give them away.”

Tristan took a breath of relief when she said that, feeling much, much better now. “That is true-and in each store we go to, he thinks he’s supposed to get all of the toys and everything Star Wars for his collection-I even know Target has a aisle dedicated to Star Wars, and of course, Party City does too….and we should hit up those stores right now.”

“Alright, I’m up for going shopping right now. I don’t have any plans today and my son is with his aunt. So I’ll be able to help until seven.” She picked up her purse and placed it over her shoulder. Then, she pulled out her keys. “Do you want to drive? Or do you want me to?”

“Don’t tempt me. I might show up in the middle of the night and bang on your door asking for wine.” she laughed, shaking her head. “When bad things happen, it’s inevitable. Especially in the medical field. You do your best, and some people just can’t be saved.”

“I wouldn’t mind that. I’m usually up late.” Claudia passed a glass to Zoe. “Yeah, which sucks, but that’s life. I used to work as a psychiatrist and some people would never get better. It upset me, but again, that’s just how it is. I think you’re strong, doing such a job.”

“A badass who thought she bombed her interview.” Safiya laughed. “I literally cannot believe they called to offer me the job.”

“Well, you didn’t. So you should pour yourself a wine and have a glass in celebration,” Claudia said excitedly.  “And life is full of surprises. Sometimes we get what we want, sometimes we don’t. In your case, you got what you want, and that’s really great.”

“I know,” she agreed with her, instantly deleting her profile and set her phone down. “Yeah it is a huge city and I’m no matter how hard I look or if he just appears to me the old fashioned way, I’ll be one happy girl then,” Cassidy smiled at that idea, having a feeling that it’s going to be either a long or short road when he finally appears. 

“I think he’ll come into your life eventually,” she said confidently, sitting on the couch with her ankles crossed over the coffee table. “I’d like to think there’s someone out there for everyone, and that, no one’s destined to be alone. I’m actually hoping to find my prince or princesses charming in the near future – sooner rather than later.” She rolled her eyes at herself, finding such a thing coming from her mouth hilarious. But it was true, she’d like to think that the person who was meant for her was somewhere out in the world. Being alone forever sounded so boring.

“So do I!” She said pointing at herself when the other said she had a big mouth which often got her in quite the situations, but she always found her way out of them before it got worse. “It’s not a citywide thing, we’re driving down to Canton for it and the team who finishes in less time gets free drinks afterward from the losers. Most of them, well all of them, are pretty fit and all so I feel like I’m the one putting in all the working out right now,” she laughed a little. “Canton is only about a thirty minute drive, you could always come down and watch it. Maybe even participate?”

Claudia raised both of her eyebrows and then grinned. “It’s good to know I’m not the only one.” She laughed, shaking her head at her own words. The number of times she’s gotten into trouble for speaking when she wasn’t supposed to was ridiculous. “Oh, wow – that’s cool. I think I’ll go to watch. I don’t really see myself wanted to participate because I’ve been really lazy lately,” replied honestly.

“It would be so much better if it was a thing in the medical field.” she laughed. “Instead, I have to go buy my own wine to drown my sorrows in rather than free booze.” Zoe said, shaking her head at the thought. “No, not this week. Thankfully.”

"Well, if you ever want free booze, you're welcome to come to my place whenever you'd like," she said with a smile. She uncorked the bottle of wine and then poured some in one of the glasses. "That's good. I bet that makes your life a lot easier. Seeing pain isn't good on one's psyche."

Bianca turned to the woman then back at the now speeding away car and sighed. “You’re right, he’s not worth it. I hope Karma gets him and bites him hard in the ass,” she said with a shake of her head. “Now I need to change clothes so I can be prepared for the next meeting I have to go to soon.”

Claudia wanted to say something about how she’s always right but decided against it. She was talking to a stranger, after all. This woman wasn’t someone she could joke around with. “It likely will. Karma has a way of catching up with people,” she admitted honestly. She was going to say something else, but at the mention of clothing she took the backpack off her back and began to run her hands through it. “What size do you wear? I have some clothes in my bag that I’m willing to part with.”

Looking up at her, he nodded. ‘I need all the help I can get,” he admitted with a small smile. “I thought kid’s parties would be easy to plan, but I guess not,” Tristan chuckled as he ran a hand through his hair. “I mean, his last couple parties were simple, but this one? It’s starting to get a bit hard to handle.”

“Alrighty, then. I’ll help and be your party fairy godmother,” she teased, clasping her hands together with a half-smile. “Yeah, I think they get harder to plan the older they get since, when they get older, they want more extravagant parties. I think Star Wars is pretty tame, though. Like, so many stores are full of Star Wars shit.”

“I know! Like nobody has time to see a dick pick as soon as you say hey,” she shook her head, not wanting to relive the many dick picks she’d recieved over her dating life. “It is and honestly I’m about to delete my profile from here and do something else and not worry abut it,” Cassidy picked up her phone and instantly deleted her profile off of the dating app. 

“Yeah, nobody at all. If someone wants one, they usually ask. So why go through the trouble of sending one out of nowhere,” Claudia said, rolling her eyes and shaking her head. This was all too familiar to her, which made her a little annoyed. When Cassidy said that she was going to delete her profile, she grinned at her, though. “Sounds like a good idea. It’s a huge city, so who knows – maybe you’ll find someone the old-fashioned way.” She shrugged with one arm out.

“I don’t want to,” she admitted letting out a small chuckle. “I miss pizza, burgers, every fatty food in between but since I’ll be doing this fun challenge course in a couple of weeks with some friends, I want to be in shape for it. My competitive side has been out since we signed up for it.” She chuckled. “No, but you’re right. Have you considered becoming some sort of motivational speaker because you should.” Emma teased, smirking a little. 

Claudia shook her head before laughing. The idea of her being a motivational speaker was hilarious. Anyone who knew her well enough knew that would be an awful idea. “I’ve heard that once before, but honestly, everyone would be much better off if I never went down that path. I have a big mouth and more often than not says things that I shouldn’t.” She rolled her eyes at herself, then her eyes went wide. “Is it a citywide course? Cause I haven’t heard of it and Ilooove, loove, love watching stuff like that.”

“Either way, you get free wine. That alone would make it worth it.” she laughed. “If I got free bottles of wine, it would make dealing with difficult patients easier.” Zoe said as she shook her head. “It is. But it also can be filled with lots of pain.”

Claudia looked away from her kitchen cabinets. “You’ve got a point there. Nurses do more work than I do, so hearing this isn’t a thing in the medical industry is a little disheartening,” she said that with a pout, and then turned away. She had finally seen her bottle of expensive wine and reached up to grab it. “I would assume as much. Nothing too painful has happened all week, has it?”

Claudia raised her eyebrows at this. “I don’t really take it as a sign. I think you should continue your diet if you really want to. Shit happens all the time, and like you said, everything could potentially kill you.” She drank some of her tea as she watched people walk through the park.  “I say live your life the way you want to live it. If that means quitting your diet, then quit it. If not, don’t let a little problem set you back.”
