In depth about Us
We are a bit of an electric and strange covert system. Basically we present best to the moment we're in. One moment it can be one person and the next it could be another. If you speak with us it'll likely feel like whiplash for a while, which makes it difficult to make and keep friends/jobs/relationships. Because of this, we often share hobbies, but it isnt always the case. Devoid for example couldnt care less about having a partner or doing hypnosis so long as it's all kept relatively safe and ethical.
I suppose I'll start of with one of our stranger things that others pick up themselves fairly frequently;We call others "beans" (which has landed us in a touchy spot a couple times) because human beings can be funnied into human beans, which we eventually just shortened to "beans". If we call someone a bean, that's why.
A few of us deeply enjoy learning and practicing hypnosis. I (Peony) loves imagery, progressive muscle relaxation and sensory exploration. Jade enjoys toying with others perception, sense of self (largely in the form of transformation hypnosis) and obedience training.
We tend towards being very VERY single mindedly obsessive over a few things at a time. Usually rotating out between 2-4 (4 being very overwhelming and unusual) which can include places to go, hobbies to enjoy, shows to watch, games to play, or people to spent time with (and sometimes even obsess over to the point of wanting to wear their blood and mark their body in all kinds of beautiful ways so that others know they're ours and to keep their filthy hands off our treasure <3)
We grew up pretty sheltered and frequently abused (reference our trauma list above for a general overview) so we dont have a great grasp on a lot of pop culture references, games, books and much much more. Now that we're out of a largely hostile and oppressing immediate environment we've been doing a lot for self exploration and getting some really serious medical help for a variety for things.

I say this every time, but people Do Not Realize just how short the timeline has been on gay people in kids’ media. And it’s an ongoing fight, but this was 10 - 15 years ago.
I'm not in the Steven Universe fandom. I don't really even know the show. But the story she's telling here is important to remember. What feels like small snippets of representation took a lot of fighting to get and it wasn't as long ago as you think.

Thank you for the question and, as of Our current understanding, there are roughly 12 of Us. We havent had the opportunity just yet to work with a specialized therapist (actually getting that set up in the next couple weeks here) but we suspect there are others.
Think of it like a color wheel, it's not just hard one individual at all times like you see in Hollywood. Instead, things get blendy and mixed such as how magenta is a red/violet mix or cyan is blueish green. Each part may have overlapping "triggers" to cause Us to present.
For example, Devoid and Jade may present in a high stress situation. Devoid is very rationally and critically minded, but also very socially blunt and pushy. This is great when we need to self regulate. But if we need to do that while actually communicating They arent of much use on their own. In this hypothetical lets say we are talking to a child after a tense situation like they had been attacked or something, Jade is a tender and soothing figure that we never had and cares very emotionally for others. Together the two would be able to manage the situation better than either individually. The drawback is it's hard to tell when that's a separate part all together or if its some mix of presenters.
best case scenario Digital Circus gets remembered in a similar way as Steven Universe: a show that was Really Fucking Good and had nuanced characters and interesting things to say, but the audience wasn't quite ready for it and it imploded into a discourse ball. four years from now I expect to see lesbians drawing Jax like she's a renaissance muse the same way people still draw Pearl or Lapis
so. i just learned that my entirely me-written resume flags as being AI-written by automated HR systems for a few writing quirks and the fact that i followed all the rules of good resume writing, which is apparently a telltale sign of AI use in this fucking hellworld. i've been desperately applying to jobs that i am massively overqualified for for months with no response, not even an interview, and now i find out that at least part of the reason is because some fucking moron decided that following the rules every career advisor has given me for a decade means i cheated and should be disqualified. the ai bubble cannot pop soon enough. what the actual fuck.
