Zatanna didn’t know what she was supposed to do. She didn’t think anyone did in this moment, but she’s at least got the advantage of being able to get herself anywhere- if she didn’t work herself until she passed out from spell exertion, that is- so she magicked herself to the Watchtower, because, well, it seemed as good a place as any and she’s really, genuinely freaking out and needed to see a familiar face before she lost it. “Hello?” Her voice echoed oddly off the walls and her heart hurt and her hands shook unsteadily and when she turned to see Vic, there was nothing she could do to stop the burn of tears at her eyes. “Oh my God- Vic. What the hell just- this isn’t- I can’t… fuck, I’m so glad to see you. I- okay, sorry, do you know if we’re supposed to be doing something right now?”
it was much easier to regain your calm when someone else was standing in front of you, shaking and lost. and while he certainly didn’t know what the fuck he or anyone else was supposed to be doing, being there for zat was a comfort that took his mind off their incredibly devastating failure. “i don’t know what we’re supposed to be doing either...can’t get in touch with anyone. i assume it’s because they’re working to clear surrounding areas. i would be there but bat protocol is someone always has to be here so...feeling useless. but i’m doing my job.” he gave her a small smile, one that was hardly convincing anyone. “—we tried, z.” he gave her a hug, gentle as always, lest she be crushed by his hulking metal frame.
