Violet’s Weird Neighbour – (Violet/Katya) – Laurel
Merry Christmas and happy holidays to you all, this is a present for @czarina-chachki for the @rpdrficexchange hope you like it! I’ve never written Violet or Katya fics before, so I hope I did them justice for you. I hope I hit just the right amount of weird, crazy fun and cute christmasness! (apologies by the way for posting this a bit late)
SUMMARY: One annoying neighbour bellowing out Christmas carols leads to Violet having her best Christmas yet… and why, yes, there are two very nosey chickens involved.
PROMPT: I would ideally like some kind of fun AU, just really off the walls weird, crazy, fun. I really want Violet to be a main character. I really like her paired with Katya, though I wouldn’t say no to a fun gen fic with Katya or Courtney and anyone else who’d naturally fit with them
“On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me!”
A bellowing voice woke Violet and she groaned rubbing her hands over her eyes.
“Fuck off,” was all her hungover mind could come up with. She quickly decided for added effect to grab one of her stiletto heels from the side of her bed which she had dropped as she all but collapsed into bed the night before and before her hazy mind could stop her, she threw the shoe at the wall which resulted in an echoing bang.
However, the voice simply took a moment to cackle out a laugh in response then proceeded to sing at the top their lungs; “10 pounds of ravioli!”
Violet had never actually met her neighbour before, but she was definitely familiar with them. Her apartment building was old, and the walls were incredibly thin. So as a result, Violet was used to hearing loud singing at all hours of the day and random shouts of “Barbara”.
However, today was Christmas Eve and after a night out with her best friend Courtney, which resulted in said best friend wondering off with a girl she met at the bar, who Violet personally thought looked more like a clown but once Courtney got hearts in her eyes Violet knew she had lost her for the evening. Violet thought she deserved to sleep in and wallow in her loneliness. However, her thoughts were once again interrupted by the screaming laugh of her neighbour, who was yelling something about ‘Barbara’ and ‘Christmas jumper’.
At that moment Violet decided officially she was going to go confront her neighbour, possibly even throw her other shoe at them if they didn’t shut up. With that thought in her mind and her stiletto in her hand, she crawled out of bed and marched herself out of her apartment, slamming her front door behind her.
However, the voice stopped suddenly, most likely hearing the slam of Violet’s door. The silence was a relief to Violet’s ears and so she turned back to her apartment ready to once again collapse into bed and sleep the rest of the day away.
Her hand pushed down on her door handle. Nothing. She tried again.
Well, shit, she thought. Her apartment door was always jamming, but Violet usually kept her keys in her pocket. It was only then that she looked down and realised that in her blurry hungover state, she hadn’t bothered to get dressed before going to confront her neighbour. Thank god, she thought that she at least hadn’t completely stripped nude before going to bed as she sometimes did after a night out, particularly when Courtney’s involved.
She groaned as she realised what she was going to have to do and with a final sigh, she sucked up her pride and knocked on her neighbour’s door.
The door creaked open in front of her and to her shock, she was met by the manic grinning of her neighbour who was surprisingly hot, with a short blonde bob of hair and tinsel wrapped around her neck as a scarf. She opened her mouth to say hello to Violet, however, she was interrupted by the sound of a cluck and the sound of little pattering feet which ran out through the crack of her door.
“Barbara! Get back here!” The neighbour pushed Violet out of the way and ran into the hall after… well… after Barbara.
Violet’s mouth fell open in surprise, she knew her neighbour was weird, but even she didn’t imagine her to have a pet chicken in the apartment.
“Hello!” The neighbour grinned as she approached Violet, with a chicken in her arms. “Sorry about the noise, I’ll try to be quiet,” then she dropped her voice into a whisper, “can’t say the same for Barbara though she’s a bit of a drama queen.”
“Umm thanks,” Violet replied momentarily stunned, “but I got locked out my apartment, can I use your phone to call the landlord?”
“Sure,” Katya said, leading Violet into her apartment and grabbing her phone off the side of the couch. “I’ll give you a minute,” Katya continued and walked into another room, which Violet assumed was her bedroom, chicken still under her left arm.
Violet took a minute to look around as she dialled the landlord’s number, which she had memorised due to the number of problems she had with her shitty apartment. Surprise, surprise, the landlord couldn’t make it as he was out of town for the holidays. Fuck. She threw the phone onto the couch in annoyance, then her eyes widened as she remembered that it wasn’t hers. A bundle shot out from under the couch with a disgruntled squawk making Violet jump. She was sure she saw her neighbour take ‘Barbara’ into the bedroom with her.
“…Neighbour,” she called, realising she still didn’t know the blonde girl’s name, “your… Barbara… got out again.”
The blonde neighbour came running out the bedroom, still with a chicken in her hands and ran up to the other chicken and said in a teasing tone, “Barbara don’t scare the guests its very rude mind your manners!”
“I thought that one was called Barbara,” Violet said gesturing to the one in her neighbour’s arms.
Well, what could Violet reply to that?
“Anyway, I’m Yekaterina Petrovna Zamolodchikova,” she said putting the chicken down and sticking out her hand to Violet, “but you can call me Katya, and you’ve already met the Barbaras.”
“Violet,” she said grabbing Katya’s hand, and before she could stop herself, she just had to ask, “how the fuck do you have two chickens in an eighth-floor apartment?”
Katya laughed in response and the two Barbaras appeared to turn and look at each other as if say ‘well that’s a stupid question’.
Katya reached for her phone and called out to Violet, “any luck with the landlord?”
“Nope, he won’t come out on Christmas Eve.”
“Fuck that sucks, you need to call someone else?”
Violet nodded and took the phone back from Katya and dialled a number she really hoped she memorised correctly.
“Hello,” a deep-voiced, yet surprisingly feminine voice answered.
Fuck it’s not Courtney’s number. “Hi, sorry I was trying to ring my friend Courtney, think I got the wrong numb-”
There were some shuffling noises on the other end of the line when the chipper voice of Courtney replied to her, “hey bitch!”
Before Violet could begin a rant complaining about getting locked out of her apartment to Courtney, Courtney let out a giggle “Bianca stop it I’m on the phone!”.
Some very disturbing noises followed and so Violet quickly hung up the phone. So, staying at Courtney’s one bedroom apartment didn’t appear to be an option right now. She groaned and handed the phone back to Katya who was stifling laughter, apparently hearing Violet’s conversation.
“How did you get locked out anyway?” Katya asked.
“I was trying to sleep in but you,” she stressed the ‘you’ accusatorially, “keep waking me up.”
“Sleep in?” Katya questioned. “bitch its 5 pm.”
The two Barbara’s were now looking at Violet as if to say, ‘you fucking idiot’, well, at least in Violet’s mind they were.
She shot the Barbara’s a glare back.
“Since I woke you up, why don’t you join me for leftover pizza for dinner,” Katya asked, “or breakfast in your case.”
Violet in response sat down on Katya’s couch, one of the few pieces of furniture in the main room of her apartment, “why not?”
Katya left the room and returned a moment later with a pizza box and a bundle of clothes. “Not that I’m not enjoying this view, but I thought you’d like a shirt.”
Violet blushed and pulled the shirt over her head, she had forgotten her state of undress, being distracted by her neighbour and her cocks. Oh God, she wished that was a euphemism, much easier to explain than why her neighbour seems to have two chicken’s, who are for no reason both called Barbara.
Katya sat down beside her and grabbed a slice of pizza then offered the box to Violet.
“Don’t you have a tv or something?” Violet asked once she’d finished chewing a mouthful of pizza.
“No, there’s more room for the Barbara’s to run around,” she said, as though it was a dilemma most people encountered. A TV or more chicken space?
“Ah okay,” Violet replied. Between them they ate the rest of the pizza, the food helping Violet’s hangover-induced headache immensely.
“Fancy a drink?” Katya said, “it is Christmas Eve after all!”
Violet nodded, then Katya reached down and pulled a large bottle of vodka out from under the couch cushion.
“I have to hide it from Barbara, she’s a bad influence on the other Barbara,” she whispered as if revealing a major secret. Then raised her voice and shouted across the room, “Barbara stop eavesdropping it’s very rude.”
After a few swigs of vodka from the bottle, the hours drifted away as the two fell into random conversations, violet’s weird neighbour’s stories leaving her in hysterics. It was only when Violet looked out of the window and noticed the pitch-black sky that she said, “fuck, what even is the time?”
Katya looked down at her almost dead phone, “huh? Would you look at that… merry Christmas Violet.”
“Oh, I didn’t realise it was so late,” Violet said whilst blushing, “I guess… I should find a hotel for the night.”
“You can stay here, I don’t mind,” she said with a smile, “it’s Christmas, you’re supposed to help your neighbours and all that jazz.”
A small smile took over Violet’s face, “you sure?”
“Bitch you can sleep with me, I don’t bite! Actually though, don’t ask my friend Trixie about that,” Katya cackled out a laugh as if remembering something funny, “don’t worry neither do the Barbaras.”
Violet followed Katya into the bedroom and stood awkwardly not knowing what side of the bed to go to, or even if she should just sleep on the floor. Katya climbed into bed and patted the space beside her, beckoning Violet towards her. Even before having vodka goggles on her brain, she had no illusions about how attractive Katya was. Vodka added, and Violet was trying not to over think the situation as she clambered into bed with Katya; it’s just a neighbour helping out a neighbour, nothing more.
It was only as Katya pulled her shirt over her head leaving herself only in her underwear that Violet’s mind went into overdrive because fuck her weird neighbour was hot. She lay her head down on the pillow and tried to calm her breathing, turning to face the wall hoping that blocking her view of Katya would calm down her thoughts. She heard the sound of blankets rustling then stilling, and the warmth of a body lying only inches away from her own.
“Night,” Katya whispered in her ear, sending a shiver down Violet’s spine, as she whispered her own goodnight back. It was only when Katya’s breathing grew heavy and the sound of light snores filled the room that Violet herself managed to fall asleep.
Violet awoke to the sun shining through the window lighting up the room and a warm weight of someone snuggling into her neck. She groggily tried to put together where she was without opening her eyes fully to the bright light of the room. The weight shifted slightly beside her and she reached an arm across the bed to shake awake her companion and said, “Merry Christmas Katya.” However, her arm hit a blank space and she clutched the bed sheets in her hand as a confused expression filtered onto her face.
It was the bellowing laugh coming from the doorway that caused Violet to fully open her eyes. “Barbara! Don’t steal my girl!”
An indignant squawk followed, and a chicken jumped off the bed right in front of Violet’s face. Katya laughed once again and walked across the room with a plate of toast in her hand, “I’m afraid this is as a good a Christmas breakfast I can do.” It wasn’t a big thing that Katya had done for her, but Violet couldn’t help but be filled with affection towards her, and her mind told her to take the plate and say thank you. However, before she could stop herself, she reached up and her lips met Katya’s. It was only a small kiss, one which left both girls blushing, but then Katya leaned down once more capturing Violet in a much more passionate kiss. The two pulled away from each other breathing deeply.
Katya got up off the bed, with Violet’s eyes following her closely.
“Now Barbara,” she said shooing the chicken out the bedroom, “this is not going to be appropriate for chicken eyes.”
The two Barbara’s ran out the bedroom and continued to run around the main room, in the space that would approximately fit a TV, before settling themselves down by the front door next to an abandoned stiletto.
