Basically sheâs essentially trying to stake claim to owl-inspired creatures and common color schemes, and using it as an excuse to harass other users on the grounds of âart theftâ.
If she finds your character is based on an owl and has a similar color scheme to any of her âtaumsâ (which, ironically, are nothing more than sparkledog versions of DnDâs owlbears), she will steal one of your characters and try to sell it. Â
She recently did this to a user who drew an owl gryphon that had a muted version of a typical cotton candy-esque color scheme (pink, blue, yellow, purple). Happy has a taum with a similar, albeit noticeably brighter (also lacking purple), color scheme. She claimed the gryphonâs creator was ripping off her taums, and proceeded to draw said userâs fursona and attempt to sell it as one of her own characters/designs. (Sadly I do not have the screenshot of this, as it was quickly removed due to backlash and because a specific artist stuck her neck out for the individual who was accused of theft.) When many users told her it was just a coincidence she went off on a rant implying she doesnât believe in coincidences (imgur mirror), therefore it MUST be art theft.
After a large amount of backlash, she backpedaled in the comments, claiming that the buyers are fake and she only means it as a very mean prank. Even IF sheâs telling the truth about it being a prank, both the artist who drew the gryphon and the artist who stood up for her have been receiving harassment from Happyâs watchers. This goes beyond âmean prankâ and into the territory of âway to ensure potentially innocent people get harassed by a hate mobâ.Â
If you have an owl-inspired or owlbear species/character Iâd be very wary when interacting with this artist.Â
