WARNING: LONG ASS TEXT JUSTIFYING MY RATING (also sorry for bad english)
I found a mucha lucha character tier list and I decided to rate them over their costume designs.
French Twist and Snow pea are very overrated in the (almost inexistent) fandom, but I think they deserve top 1 and 2.
Pierre del fuego's costume kinda looks like bullshit by itself but it's design is symbiotic with zero kelvin's, zero kelvin's costume design looks ten times better but Pierre's make zero's look even better and vice versa. If I were to rate them individually kelvin would be in great costume design and Pierre would be in ok. But they both get mogged by the woman they fight in that one one episode, I don't remember her name.
Realistically, the flea should be on the absolute bottom because he's costume reeks and it's actually white even tho he's supposed to be a flea, but that whole thing fits with he's luchador theme so it's alr.
Both Penny plutonium and El Gundamo look cool asf and they would be on the top if it wasn't because of their names and themes. The only thing in Penny's costume design that mildly suggests that her theme is science is the little atom symbol she has on her vest (that's why her father is upper on the list), the first that comes to mind isn't scientific genius or quimestry, its robots, which isn't actually that bad because I think she's kinda meant to be like a product of her fathers experiments or smth, but another reason why she's a little bit lower is because her costume doesn't look "luchador" It looks more like a superhero suit.
Jet again, the whole thing of the Gundamo is robots, but he's designs says kaiju, he looks more like a godzilla-ish creature, ofc, because of copyright and stuff he couldn't actually look like a Gundam, but there's absolutely nothing in he's design that may mean robots at all, I guess he's theme it's supposed to be Japanese media as whole but for someone who sees him fight for the first time he's luchador name and he's costume just don't correlate.
Private Reinhard's theme is really cool but the same thing that happens to Penny happens to him, he doesn't look like a luchador at all, just a regular soldier, the mask is insuperable but he should have done more than a wife-beater and some army attire.
I know that it is dumb to think about stupid ideas when we are talking about an absurdist show that consists of crazy looking characters transforming into random bs. But having a big ass ball of glass in your head as your mask for a sport in which you are supposed to throw hands has to be the worst idea ever, Megawatt's costume design is charismatic and all but it's just too illogical.
I have a lot more to say but I'm going to leave it at that because I'm lazy, and if anyone has a question about my reasoning on some other characters they are totally free to ask and I will answer, I would also love to read everyone's opinions. Bye.
