Yesterday I was sitting online and Aayla started giggling in her sleep. Sometimes I wish I could get in that little girls head and just see what’s so funny.“
She's probably laughing because she's a happy baby. There's nothing that sounds better than hearing your own baby laugh, I've heard Loyal do it so many times it never gets old.
Maybe he gets it from his Uncle Jack because it’s definitely not from me or Sel. He threw it at me, spit it at me, we basically had a food fight.
He’s got the right idea, then. I don’t blame the poor kid. I would’ve loved to have seen that. I’m surprised a video of it hasn’t made it to YouTube yet. The next time you’re brave enough to feed him bananas again you should give me a call.
He remembered Madison, which shocked Beth, “Yeah, I do. I can’t say if that was it or not, I know you loved her though, I didn’t know if you remembered her.” She spoke softly as she watched him move closer to her, their knees barely touching as he reached for her hand. She took his in her own before nodding, “I promise you Jack, I’m not going anywhere okay?” She smiled up at him, before gently squeezing his hand. “You could take all the time in the world and I would still be standing here waiting for you.” Her eyes moved away for a moment to stare at their son, before she turned back to Jack. “No need to thank me, you’ve done a lot for me, we are kinda just here for each other.” Her heart felt like it was going to beat out of her chest. “I love you too.”
“I do, yeah.. I met her -- or I guess, I got acquainted with her at the hospital after they told me she was stable. She was a little, rocky, I guess you could say?” He said, his eyes lowering to Chance as he couldn’t help but smile at their son. The sensation of her smaller hand around his sent shivers to scale down the male’s already sensitive backside. Goosebumps flooded every bare part of his arms and legs, his hand gently being squeezed by her own. He made sure to return the favour to let her know he understood, as the right words didn’t seem to make it to his lips. “I just feel bad that I was probably a jerk to you. And I know it’s complicated with the new baby and everything, but just know I want to be with you whenever you’re ready.. I don’t want to pressure you into anything.” Jack said, his voice turning rigid as he kept a plausible hold onto Bethany’s hand, his thumb involuntarily scrolling across the back of her palm.
Beth was shocked that she could still speak, since she felt like every other muscle in her body had froze solid. Watching Chance stare up at Jack, she couldn’t help but smile at the baby. It wasn’t the fact that Bethany had moved on, because she hadn’t, Jack was always going to be that person that Beth just couldn’t get over. She shook her head softly, “N-No…I haven’t really, I do still love you.” She admitted shyly, feeling her cheeks heat up as she spoke, her eyes finding his once more. “I mean…before the accident, things were…complicated and different. I’m not sure how to quite explain them. I know it sounds dumb, but you have to believe me. But…you’re the one person in my life Jack that I haven’t been able to get over, and I’m not sure why. Not that I want to get over you, I just…never thought you would love me like I love you.”
“You do? Because, I remember feeling like I did but I don’t know why I couldn’t just tell you. I guess it was Madison..” Jack began to trail, a heavy sigh departing from his lips, his body moving ever so closer to Bethany, his knee lining up with hers. His eyes could do nothing else but feel obligated to be glued to her, giving her his full attention wholeheartedly. His heart began to sink the more that was revealed, and the more guilt started to crumble inside of him. “I might not know why yet, and I know I’m going to sound like a broken record, but you just stay patient with me I think I’ll be able to remember.” He said calmly, his free hand moving from his lap to Bethany’s, reaching for her own to hold. His jaw clenched at the word ‘complicated’, and though that wasn’t what he’d wanted to hear, all the male could do was accept it. ”I’m glad to know that.. You waited for me. You’ve already done enough for me and I don’t know how else to thank you.” He repeated, his fingertips moving to collect fallen pieces of hair that had fallen to tuck behind her ear, his thumb crossing her cheek with light pressure. “I don’t deserve your patience. Thank you.. I love you.”
Beth shook her head, “No you wouldn’t have, I mean, your only responsibility was Chance, because…well he’s yours.” She mumbled, feeling stupid with what she was saying. “The fact that you chose to help meant more than you will ever know.” Her voice had fallen slightly as she swallowed hard, before looking back at him. “Yeah, she loves him, and he loves her, as he’s getting older he’s interacting with her more, and it’s cute to watch her try and teach him certain things.” Her hands clasped in her lap as she listened to him, her heart practically beating out of her chest as she heard the words spill from his mouth. Beth shook her head, “N-No, it’s n-not.” She whispered as she sat up slightly, her eyes moving to Chance before looking back at Jack. “I-I mean…I-I’ve kinda loved you for a while…but I-I know that d-doesn’t help anything.”
Jack couldn’t believe the words that had fallen from his mouth. Peeling back his memory from a few seconds prior to now it all felt blurry, reminding him how it felt to try to recall any distant and close thoughts that could bring him back to reality -- to now. All of the history he’d accumulated had been pent up in a brain that didn’t know how to function, and now more than ever was vital to him piecing back together the feelings he understood were buried inside of him finding a way out. The brunette felt the baby’s eyes staring blankly at him, his hands fitting into his mouth as the confusion on Chance’s face was nearly laughable had Jack not been in utter distraction. His eyes stayed constant on Bethany’s face, memorizing her features that began to click with him, starting with her eyes. Hearing her broken words caused a lump to form in the back of his throat again, this time becoming much harder for him to talk through. “Really? You.. you loved me?” He asked her, his voice beginning to crack, the same warm feeling bubbling in the back of his spine he’d felt that day nearly a month before. “I didn’t want to complicate things.. I don’t want to complicate things. I know it looks like you moved on, and I’m sorry that I was too stupid to see it..”
Beth felt her cheeks heat up as she looked away from Jack before nodding, “Of course, I mean, yeah, no need to thank me.” She promised as she looked up at the pair once more. “Yeah, kinda. I mean, before your accident you helped out a lot more than you think.” Beth bit her lip before swallowing hard, “Yeah, she’s a good little munchkin, it’s been hard on her and she kinda started to act our but she’s been a lot better lately.” The brunette admitted, “Chance has helped a lot lately too, he’s been keeping me afloat, he’s just such a good baby.” She smiled at their son, who was smiling and holding onto Jack tightly. “Yeah, of course, anything.”
“That’s good.. Good. Well, I’m glad you weren’t completely on your own. I wouldn’t have been a good person to do that.” Jack said plainly, rustling his fingers through his hair as he glanced over at the baby monitor close to the coffee table, eyeing the box as he watched his daughter peacefully sleeping. “Does she like Chance? Do they get along?” He asked quietly, his attention focused back on their son as he began brushing his fingertips along his back. A soft chuckle reverberated from his throat as he observed Chance with gentle eyes, a smirk soon resting on the corners of his mouth. “I know it might sound really weird... But when you visited me in the hospital after my accident.. I felt like there was something. I don’t know how to exactly say it, but when you walked into the room I thought I was in love with you." Jack paused, his body feeling the adrenaline that began to flood every vein coursing under his skin. “Is that.. a bad thing?”
Listening to jack, Beth’s eyes never left him as she bit her lip, “I was never going to leave you, jack. I know it was going to be hard, but you needed someone. You always have me and chance.” She admitted with a small smile. Squirming around, she shifted before sighing, “I forgot, uhm, Marin is my niece, she was Brittany’s daughter, Brittany was my sister, but she’s under my care now because my sister passed.” She admitted shyly, before looking down at her hands. “Marin loves you though, she made a drawing she wants to give you, it’s suppose to be a surprise.” She admitted as she nodded. “That means a lot, especially now, its getting….hard.” She whispered the last part as she crossed her arms over her chest. “But , I’m always here for you too okay?”
A suppressed chuckle slipped from Jack’s lips as he nodded to Bethany’s words. The sudden forgetting his past, especially his recent past, made the male feel like he’d let everyone down. The entire situation was his fault, he knew that, and sitting in front of Bethany left him now with so many questions he couldn’t keep them all straight. “Thank you.. I know you didn’t have to stay but you did, and that means more to me than anything else, honestly.” Jack said quietly, rocking the baby back and forth in his arms as gently as he could. An eyebrow crowed at her explanation, nodding in response. “Oh, God. I’m so -- I’m so sorry. And you’ve been doing everything by yourself?” He asked her, shock draining his face as he slowly scooted closer to her, shuffling Chance with him. “She does.. I’m sorry I -- I mean, I’m sure she’s a great kid if she’s related to you.” Blinking in silence for a few passing seconds, Jack cleared his throat rigidly before forming his words again. “Is it okay if I ask you something?”
Beth leaned back against the couch, her arms folding over her bump as she watched the two interact. A small smile played on her lips as she swallowed hard, her eyes moving from Jack to Chance and back as he spoke. “That’s…better right?” She asked, the question sounding stupid. “She’s still little, I don’t think you really have to do anything with her per say, she’s still little I don’t think you really need to entertain her, I’m sure she just likes being held.” She admitted as she sat up slightly. “I’ve been okay, it’s getting slightly harder as I get bigger, but both Chance and Marin are doing great lately, it helps a lot.” Beth nodded in agreement, “I think a family date is definitely in order, we haven’t had one in a long time.”
Nodding at her words, Jack let a slight smile emit from his lips as he turned his attention back to Chance, the baby instantly becoming able to keep the male from wasting much time on the negative effects of the accident. “Much better. I guess it just takes time,” he paused, his eyes soon diverting to Bethany, his complexion softening. “I know it’s still frustrating, but I can’t thank you enough for staying with me..” He continued to speak, swallowing the lump in his throat that started to form easily the more words fell from his vocal chords. Clearing his throat, Jack shook his head for a moment, in an effort to collect his thoughts. “Marin?” He added, his tone filling his mind as it echoed through his voice. “That’s good, yeah.. I’m glad to hear that. Well, you know where I am most of the time. As long as Loyal isn’t having a tiny meltdown -- which thank God she hasn’t -- I’ll be there. Wherever.” Jack stated, his lower lip folding into the bite of his teeth as he slowly picked the baby up onto his lap so he could rest on his chest. “And I’m here if you ever need me. Just know that.” He breathed out quietly, his weak smile staying complacent in his features.
Beth moved to sit on the couch, sitting chance in her lap as she watched jack. “Oh definitely, he gets really smiley when you’re around and when I say dada, he knows.” She nodded as she handed the baby towards jack, “you can hold him.” She stated as she crossed her feet. “How is everything going….since the accident?” It had been weird having to reintroduce herself to the male, and having to get him use to her and their son again. “Whenever you want to see him, you can always text or call me, we generally just hangout at home a lot.”
A wave of relief fell over Jack as he sighed as his response. Sitting up ever so straighter, he gingerly took the baby into his arms. Resting Chance onto his lap, Jack curled his hands into his, as he latched onto his finger. “Hey, little buddy.” He cooed to the baby, the same smile on his face soon growing wider as he became fixated on their son. His eyes flickered up as he slowly rested himself on the back of the couch head. “It’s... getting there.” He responded, a slight shrug passing his shoulders. “It’s a little weird coming home to Loyal and not knowing what the hell to do with her, you know?” Shaking his head, he listened as Bethany spoke, nodding plainly after. “How about you? How’ve you been doing?” He asked calmly, finding himself inching closer to her on the couch. “I’d like that. Maybe we can have a family day some time. Would you like that, little C?” Jack said to the baby, though he had gotten no reply.
Beth nodded as she watched Chance smile at jack before sticking his hand in his mouth. “Okay, we will wait here.” She promised, swaying again to make sure Chance was happy. Her eyes wandered around the house, as she bit her lip, and looked back at Chance, as she kissed his head gently. “You’re being such a good boy, my love.” She whispered as she stayed close to him. Once jack reappeared, she followed him into the living room quietly, “Chance missed you.” She admitted as she swallowed hard, “and I wanted to make sure you were okay.”
Gesturing to Bethany to sit on the couch, Jack splayed his body onto the sofa, his feet long enough to reach the border of the floor as he turned his head toward the female. A slight raise of his eyebrow followed her words as he couldn’t help but keep a smile bubbling from his lips to form. “You think so?” He asked softly, his eyes falling to their son as he watched the baby search the room. It was difficult for Jack to not recall any memories from before the accident, including Chance, though he slowly but surely was able to piece fragments of information together. The male stayed silent for a few lingering moments, his hands rubbing against the fabric of the couch as he parted his gaze away to gather his words together. “Well, I appreciate that. It means a lot to me. I missed him, too.” He paused, positioning himself so he could get a better look at Chance as he drifted his eyes toward him. “Do you think he knows who I am?”
Of course, but it’s not such a good thing when you are on a show where you do all your sunts. It’s going to be really different for the second half of the season. Nice to meet you Jack.
Well, then I think it might be a good idea to start telling people if it means you have to do stunts while pregnant. Your boss should understand, right?
I woke up today with the feeling of happiness, then I realized that training for my show has started and I still haven’t told anyone there I am pregnant. Hello everyone! My name is Emeraude.
That is definitely something to be happy about. I’m Jack, nice to meet you.
